I really want to buy a high quality digital camera. I've always wanted a DSLR camera, but I've never had the funds.
If I could get an affordable/best bang for your buck camera thread that would be nice. Used/refurbed DSLRs are okay with me.
just fyi I'm a HS senior and looking for something at an affordable price around $200-400.

Nikon D3300 with 18-55mm Kit lens. Buy it used if you want to save some money.

sony a6000
I've seen the t5 for pretty cheap lately.

This. Nikon gives you a way more competent camera for the money. (24mp, great at high isos, superior lens selection).
You can get one with kit lens for like 500 bucks now.
Want me to take the hard decision out of the situation?
>Canon 600D (aka Rebel T3i)
I got mine for $500AUD new with 18-55mm lens
It's just over the line of "Buying a camera that's better than your phone camera" while things like to 1200D are under or on that line
>>2776553
This. You can get cheap entry level DSLRs from Nikon for next to nothing and they're perfect for learning with.

Honestly just get the 550D.
Literally same specs except gay flip screen and some "creative" filters.
Ofc if your buying new than it will have to be 600D, but you can get nice second hand bodies cheap.
Pentax, best bang for the buck brand out there.

>600D
>$500 dollarydoos
When did you get yours? Hopefully 4 years ago. If not, then you have paid WAY too much.

lol what? Shit, I know phone cameras have gotten pretty decent, but even a 10 year old DSLR or an early m43 camera shits all over them, not just in sensor but in terms of lenses and creative control. The cheapest current production DSLR and kit lens are still worlds better than even the best phone camera. (Maybe the Lumix CM1 can compete with a cheap DSLR and kit lens set to the same focal length as the CM1's fixed lens, but the DSLR has a nearly infinite array of options in addition to that single setting.)

The specs are nearly identical, the build quality is not. Having shot with both cams I can tell you the body/button on the 550D feel like a calculator in comparison.
(The 600D feels like a calculator in comparison to an A72 but that's a different question)
T5 isn't a bad choice I got mine from b&h it's 499 but you get 2 lens and a bag and b&g throw in some extra stuff like a filter kit and sd card
Nikon D3300
Canon Rebel T5,Canon Rebel Sl1
or buy a used camera off eBay.

>superior lens selection
? such as...?
What's everybody's opinion of the Canon Powershot G11? I bought it for $140, and I have gotten some shots that look a bit better than my iPhone. Not sure if it was a bad investment.

if you want to buy a camera, make sure it at least have a 1" sensor.
olympus ep1 is pretty cheap.

I'd like to upgrade a more serious camera soon. I do a lot of landscape/hiking photos. Any suggestions?

you won't need anything else
everything is meme tier

a6000.
eos m1 or 3 + 22mm.

5DmkII. Body goes for about $800 used if you look hard enough.
D3300 (body only, if you can find it) with a 50/1.8G will do a lot. That was my primary setup for a good 8 months.
Canon SL1 would be a decent option also, as would an A6000.

A good wide angle lens is what you need. Not a new body

Why not a k-5 and a kit for about $350
For price, keep a lookout on manufacturers websites in the refurbished area.
>>2779719
Well, since the K-30 is pretty much identical specs wise except for the design that could very well be the best bang for the buck if you're looking at the used market.
A cheap camera between 150 and 250€?

The 50/1.8 is not weather sealed. If you want weather seal, leave the kit lens on or get the slower HD and WR zooms.

I picked up a d3300 w/ the kit 18-55mm and a 55-200 for a little less than 500 usd. If I were to do it again I might go for the 35mm instead of one of those lenses. I think it is a pretty good camera for the money.
