So I am looking for some constructive criticism. Photography is new to me but I've been into craft beer for a long time. I decided to start photographing my beer. I'm going to post a few of my shots, some have just a bit of editing using snapseed. I'm shooting with a Nikon D3300 with a kit 55mm lense.

Can gets lost in the background

I don't expect the subject to intrigue anyone that isn't already into beer. I do a bit of writing and reviews along with it.

I didn't even think of that. Thank you.

If you're reviewing beers then yep I can understand that the first two photos have their place, but the third stands out as a more creative photo that would look good as the "attention grabber" at the top of the review or in a thumbnail format on your blog or website.

Thanks for your input.
I'm rather fond of this one too.

Any recommendations? Brands of lighting or DIY stuff? Or even a website to learn more about lighting? The more I shoot the more important realizing how important lighting is.

I typed like a fucking retard there, sorry about that.

Don't cut off the glass, or the bottle, it looks weird. Also have a sexy lady pose with the beer, that is the key. Have her pouring it down her throat in a manner not dissimilar to how they do it in a pornography film, where she swallows a glass of sexual fluids. This is a way of engaging with the viewer and giving them a hard on for your beer.
Thank you.

It feels weird to have the top of the bottles cut off.
I think you need more visual separation on your bottles and background. The bottles are dark, the background is dark. It looks like the bottles are part of the background. If you go look up 'beer bottle ads' on google images you'll see how the pros separate the bottles from the background -- Bright bottle, dark background. Bright bottle with dark edges, light background. Dark Bottle, light background. Also notice that the ads try to pick up a color from the bottle or the label to use as a background color.

I like the idea, but it's way too blue overall, and you don't have background separation. Also the background is all blocky jpeg.
I think you would be better off moving back a bit, none of these look right because you've cut the top and bottom off everything.

I appreciate the tips everyone!
So I took your suggestions and grabbed a beer and I'm digging the results.

Looks much better. One last though on this, your horizontals & verticals aren't perfect. If you get those right it looks more professional. You're close so you can just use photoshop to fix (filter> camera raw filter> lens corrections > manual> "A").

Here's it fixed.

The things I'd never even think about.

He's right about cutting off the glass, composition for inanimate objects is important, I would ignore the pornographic elements- guy's clearly a pervert.
