Why would you not be grateful for someone who is doing something for you for free, who has not overshot any budget or timeline? But no, merely pointing out that, if he is not employed by you, in contract with you, or over-deadline with you, you have no right to be upset with him. You don't have to be grateful if you don't want, but if you remember, last year's book took a while to. Calm down.
