You can get a very wide rectilinear image with very straight lines, but the camera's output is only 6.4MP. (I think the new Theta has better resolution.)
I just generated this rectilinear image with Pano2VR from an equirectangular image, it's FoV is 131*. You'd get fewer stretchmarks at the edges if you used a more reasonable FoV.
