Anyone reckon it would be worth using the built-in digital camera unit on some of the petrographic microscopes I use in the lab to get nicer pictures of rock thin sections? Not entirely sure how good the camera actually is, but it's good enough to project an image on a board and still look decent. Would anyone find that interesting enough to warrant me bothering to post it? Maybe I'm just being overly enthusiastic, but what you can see with microscopy is fascinating to me

oh it works great for making diagrams, but the circular shape is a bit of an inconvenient format. Only a couple of the microscopes have the camera unit on them and you need to rig it up with all the cables and stuff, not sure whether it's worth bothering with
They have a scanning electron microscope and I'd love to have a play around with that but I'm only a first year so I doubt I'll be able to until second or third year

Slightly tighter crop might be nice, but I like how the winding road leads to the big crooked tower. The bikes going there too help to lead the eye. The tilted frames give me a vague sense of vertigo or dizziness which I think really works. There's almost a menace about it.
There's something slightly off about the processing that I can't quite figure out. Weirdly sharpened or something maybe. Or compression artefacts when I look at the women's hair on the bike.
On it's own it's good but not great, I'd always suggest thinking in terms of a series. A few photos along a similar theme (whether it's a visual theme, the same location, etc.). Much more impact that way.

My eyes were drawn very quickly from the bigger building down and right to BELIEVE. The buildings stacked against eachother is great but I feel like if you managed to leave out that building on the very right and straighten the verticals a bit it would be amazing

Pretentious snapshit in the room. There is nothing wrong with shooting still life - and it's all cool to spice it up with the human element - but the composition, lighting and technical execution are so uninteresting it leaves little to look at (other than her saggy tit / legs).
Experiment with perspectives and various light setups, make your shots into studies of shapes and light and go with it. A lower wide angle shot closer to her from the direction of her toes with would be interesting for example.
If you become stronger technically this cloth/knife/flower weirdness could become interesting actually.

Too much going on. Nude, towel over head, flowers in the legs, knife in one hand, glass in the other. What is supposed to be going on? It seems like you are trying so hard to create a mysterious feel that you threw everything you could at the viewer, and it makes the image feel disjointed and without any purpose. It's just edgy shit in a picture with nothing to tie all of it together. It seems like you are trying to overcome a lack of clear concept but putting a lot of props in the frame.
And why is the chair in front of a door, it doesn't make sense. It makes for an odd combination which is more distracting rather than intriguing.

Haven't much experience with metering so I shot this at 0ev and -1ev iirc. not really sure if that's even close to the correct solution (which probably is switching metering methods and doing some postprocessing correction in RAW) but made the light showing through its wings

Think about how the eye perceives an image - seeks an anchor point - the butterfly and naturally would follow it - in this case clearly this guy is probably engaged in somethiing in front of him outside the frame - then it hits the left frame of the image and bounces back to the blurred out right side of the image which is complete emptiness.
