living in Wyoming, where this grass is all youll see, ive been more successful toning the grass more towards orange rather than hi-liter yellow

I personally love the stark beauty of the windy tundras and rolling hills we have, dont get me wrong i love the Tetons and Yellowstone, but EVERYONE has seen/been there. Not much have seen the actual part of Wyoming where everyone else lives, its harsh, windy, unforgiving, but its unique here, in Wyoming, you can actually go to places where no other man has ever set foot
id say, if you want to go /out/ then go check out the following places:
>Boxelder, near Glenrock
>Thunder Basin
>Esterbrook (this one i recommend the highest, it is where pic related was taken, i have more if youd like to see them)
>Medicine Bow
>Elk Mountain
that in my opinion are the best places for forest /out/ing, if you want tundra and grass lands, then basically go anywhere else, its %75 of wyoming.

i personally love living here, its probably one of the cheapest states to live in when it comes to housing/apartments
the people who live in the cities are just like any other group of people you'd see, but the people who run farms and live out int he prairie are hard, callused, private and proud, and i love the hell out of them.
as for jobs, it depends which you are applying for, if it has anything to do with the arts, then just give up, this is one hell of a blue collar state, the people who thrive here are oil workers and diesel mechanics, which should give you a hint of the type of work you should see alot

Got a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 yesterday and was messing around with it with my cat.
I love the depth of field it can produce, but I've found getting the focus perfect at such a low aperture is a challenge. Totally worth it if you can get it right though (I know it's not perfect in this photo).

It was my first DSLR, not to say it was a "bad" camera, but the best way to put it is that I grew out of it. I absolutely despised the puny viewfinder and prices of lenses. I bought a 50 1.8D (which I still use on my film camera) for it but it was way too tight as I was getting 75ish mm (35mm eq), with no, fucking, AF, and dear lord manual focus for anything but portraits is hell with that viewfinder (no I wasn't only shooting at 1.8). I'd always (okay, mostly) miss the focus with the 50mm and the kit lenses 18-55 and 55-200 were dog shit compared to what I have now especially that 55-200, I really didn't like that lens at all. I wasn't going to spend money on DX lenses like 50 and 35 G ones, because that demon-spawned viewfinder was something I couldn't put up with. Honestly man, imagine the viewfinder you have now, and double that size, go check out a camera with a larger viewfinder, I can't say it'll be your tipping point but it was mine. Plus, now if I do buy more lenses, it'll be for a full frame, cheaper in price and actually worth the money I spend on it. Like if you go and buy a 35mm f1.8 G lens on your D5100 (which will give you 52mm not 35mm because crop sensor), you CAN mount it later on on an FX camera but you'll get heavy vignetting. You can get the FX 35mm lens but that $400 more. So, we've gone over the viewfinder and lack of AF motor..
It is still a great camera, tilt screen is wow and dat sensor is great, like for astro photos, heck even the 18-55 produces great images for astro. If you have themoney for DX lenses and will probably stick to DX, like D7XXX and all, keep this and buy those G lenses. If you plan to go fool-frame or are unsure, stick with the kit lens for now.

Like I said, I just got the lens and was messing around. I don't normally take photos of my cat because he's a pain in the ass to photograph. I especially wouldn't normally try it at such a low aperture. I was just super happy with the depth of field I can get on the lens.
