Why is the horizon in the center? It would have a stronger feel to it if either the sky or water had dominance in the frame. Equal weight only confuses the eye here, and the barrel distortion isn't helping.

because the mirroring improves the photo in this case.

It would be more traditional, but not stronger. There is nothing notable about the sky or the water that would make the image better, having given more of the frame to that part. What makes the image is the symmetry.

The power of a wonderful Fuji sensor. You can pull out tons of information from shadows and really even out exposures. Also, notice the style of light, and the direction she shoots in, because these help as well.

Max Ernst born 1891 was a key figure in the Dada and Surrealist movements.
