Which is the best film Leica for street photography? For me its the m6...
>>2747586
lol do you even have a m6?
m2 for sure. its got those full and pure .72 35mm lines without a stupid pairing or unnecessary meter like leica did starting with the m4.
Whichever one you point at interesting stuff and click at the right moment.

m240 because Digital is better for posting to Instagram than film.

M4-P, I like the no meter and I use 28mm a lot so that pretty much narrows it down.
Gonna get a new M-A as soon as they release it A La Carte / in black paint. If there's confirmation they wont, suppose I'll get an MP instead.

I would love an m6 if I could find one with the 0.85 finder.
otherwise I'll just stick to the m3.

This could answer 99% of stupid questions on /p/
M7. AE is great for street photography.
>>2748060
I find the exact opposite.
In street photography, you never know exactly what your subject will be until it's right there in front of you, and you need to get the shot as quickly as possible.
With an AE camera, it might chose an exposure biased to background highlights, or the colour of someone's shirt, that's wrong for the scene.
Whereas if you have a manual exposure already preset that's correct for the ambient light, that's not a problem.
Can be moderately challenging to switch between bright light and shade constantly as you move around, but knowing your exposure's going to be correct before you bring the camera to your face makes getting the shot that much faster and easier.

speaking exclusively of film cameras
the electronic shutter also bothers me. The M7 in my mind is the most un-Leica body in the M lineup. Even the unwieldy M5 can be excused for it's ambition, but the M7 feels like they realized Japan had beaten them in technology, so here is a half hearted attempt at a "modern" camera. By contrast, the M5 was a honest attempt at a modern camera, perhaps too ahead of it's time and shunned by purists.
Digital M bodies are a whole different story. I feel like they are marketed to the rich idiot in order to keep lens production going for the few film enthusiasts and collectors with too much money. That said, I shoot Leica and got into Leica during the 2 years I was earning a 6 figure salary. now I'm back to regular pleb and selling my shit. boom and bust, that's how it goes, at least I have tasted $300 a bottle wine.

Not to mention with their price, you could get a used digital Hassy for easily under half as much as a digital Leica

cont.
this might go for cameras too but $300 wine doesn't taste much different than a $30 wine
the best photo's I have taken have been shot on a Nikon FE because i put the greatest number of rolls through it of any camera I have owned. my AE1 is tied with my M3, though I have put more rolls through the AE1, it was my first SLR and I made a lot of mistakes. Relatively the M3 is new to me

maybe if you have the pallet of a toddler.

>pallet of a toddler
And most people with 6 figure salaries can keep them if they don't have the vocabulary of a toddler too.

>a toddler would have far great hurr durr
no, he wouldn't. varietal exposure and smell are worth much more than a "clean" palette. this is why we trust people who have tried thousand of wine pairings -and also maybe smoke or drink coffee- over those who haven't.
>>2750409
eh ... my experience is that we trust people who claim to be experts, even more so when others trust their expertise. people also tend to think that age equates to wisdom.

why all the empty space?
