Why are the works of this photographer so elusive and expensive? Why does he not mass produce any works and sell them for 3 digit figures instead of only printing once and selling for 4-5 digit figures?

you make 100 copies of a given photo. start a reasonable price, when they get scarcier, they get more expensive, progressively. this creates a sense of urgency. combine that with serious marketing and shilling and you get loads of cash from subpar work.
