I think you nailed it. It's hard to check sharpness at this resolution but it looks fine. The second/third plane of building behind the face of the skyline are all slightly more out-of-focus which gives the skyline a feeling of depth. Opening it up a bit more would give more of this but you'd also lose a bit of sharpness.

I can see it. The innocent look of the child, looking up at the soldier who arrived with his mates to a small village, a woman behind him looking stressed and afraid. She is not sure what she is supposed to do and will happen next. She is standing close to the child and thinking about picking her up and run as soon as soldiers walk away little further. The facial expression of the soldier is calm and stern, shit is probably about to go down. The blur accentuates the movement and the fast pace of the scene.
And I'm serious about this, don't think I'm ironic asshole trying to troll you like a lot of the guys here are. I very often see something good in every work, and I see it here too. To be honest, photo as a photo is maybe not compositionally perfect and I don't think it works the best with blur here, but as a part of the motion picture and as a pure idea, I can see a potential here.

Hey big thank you for that feedback, exactly what I'm looking for, either positive or negative, it's much appreciated. I'm just in the process of finding my own style and knowing how people without a direct connection to the picture see or experience some pictures (if that happens at all) helps a lot. The blur wasn't really intended which means that I have to get much more trained in using the camera to capture spontaneous scenes where I only have one shot. In that case an army checkpoint in Colombia where they hadn't been the biggest fan of the camera :D

look at old paintings and imagine them with bland natural colours and levels you'd expect if you just took a normal photograph of the same scene. pay attention to the colours of shadows, of highlights, how far things stray from pure red / green / blue.
googling colour theory should get you some beginner's guides, maybe some stuff on colour grading
photoshop has a tool called the kuler panel somewhere under windows -> tools i think which will help you create colour palettes using standard colour relationships which can help you decide which hues to push your image to. like you've got a real nice yellow thing, and you've got a blue thing, but a better relationship would be that yellow and a cyan, then you can adjust the blue to be cyan to match the palette you created. kuler panel is pretty annoying in cc though since it's an online-only tool and it just loads a fucking web page in a little photoshop tool window and is rather slow for myself, so you might as well use an online tool in a normal browser like paletton.com

there are lots of tools for manipulating colour and curves gets a lot of groundswell (and is definitely worth getting used to) but there's nothing wrong with more direct manipulations, such as the hue and saturation adjustment which you can use to hone in on specific hue ranges and push / pull them to other hue ranges and saturations and values. camera raw / lightroom has a whole panel for pushing and pulling reds, oranges, yellows, etc.
selective colour is also good, kind of like an expanded white balance for individual colour ranges, including blacks, greys, and whites.
a good tip for curves is to use the finger icon in the curves window. this allows you to click on the image and drag the value up and down, and you can adjust the colour with this by selecting only one of the channels in the dropdown menu in curves that says RGB, or Luminosity if you're in LAB instead of the default RGB mode. if you use the finger, go up to the top of the photoshop window where it shows you options for brushes and other tools and increase the sampling radius to average out a little area to avoid noise messing with the value selection.

Thanks mate. Yeah, I know some color theory but I'm bad at color grading. I'm already using adobe kuler, ocasionally palleton too and visit few websites, like the one you mentioned. Great advice on the old pictures part, I think that will definitely help.

There is a difference between taking a photo because you think it's neat, and presenting a photo to an audience. Before sharing a photo, you should ask yourself "Does this photo have anything to offer, that my viewers will be interested in?"
You don't have to treat /p/ like an art gallery, but it's you sharing your photos with other photographers, and there should be something motivating you to share that particular photo.
When one of the most dramatic problems facing photography in the digital age is the sheer volume of photos, there is just so much extraneous noise that great photos get completely drowned out, and potentially great photographers are losing respect by associating with "photographers" who are just 14 year old girls with a D3000 taking photos of grass in the back yard. The best thing you can do for the art, and for your own happiness, is to filter your work into "For me, because I've always wanted to take a photo like this" and "This photo has something to offer the community" and only present photos from the latter.

This is very very incorrect. With a snowy scene, your meter assumes your scene is over-exposed, and will under expose by between one and two stops. You need to add + EV comp to correct it.
-1 EV Comp will further under expose the photo.

You misunderstood my attitude, I come here as an amateur with the hope for criticism which helps me to become better. I like the picture and I think it's shareable, I used the flash to black out the background (it was in my garden) I like the faded colours and the drops and where the focus is, still I know there are plenty of pictures like that out there. Which is most possible true for as good as every motive here. I won't just randomly pick any picture from my hard drive but I will pick some where I hope for helpful input. Crossroads, landscape, dogs, flowers, sunsets... You can find endless perfect pictures from these, which would make it obsolete to post any new ones. So you can either be positive about it and judge every picture by itself or you can be negative just compare it to the quadrillions of pictures out there and judge it as unnecessary but then you wouldn't have any real reason to be here...

Just because a photo has been taken before doesn't mean that it doesn't have something to offer. A good approach at a new sunset, done correctly, can be a nice photo to look at. Portraits can have different emotions, different ligting, etc.
But there are certain "just got a camera" milestones that we ALL go through, that don't create anything worth viewing. One of these is the bokeh flower. Another is a cluttered sunset. Then there's pet photos, and the phase were you want to take photos of everything, which produces asphalt, bushes, piles of shoes, photos of your desk, half-assed action figure scenes, etc.
These are photos that each and every one of us has taken, and they're rights of passage. When you get your first fast prime, you shoot EVERYTHING at f/1.8 and think it looks amazing. You'll shoot fence posts, and christmas lights, and you'll have a couple of "portraits" of your friend Kev where nothing is in focus because you shot it in his basement and your camera missed his eye with the focus, etc.
If you want critique, ask for critique. But know that unless the photo has something to offer, or shows promise, you aren't going to get much attention at all, other than insults and trolling. The photo you posted isn't a photo of a flower. It's EVERY photo of a flower. It's done poorly, processed poorly, lit poorly, framed poorly, and has no content worth looking at for anyone who's passed through the "bokeh flower" phase.

It's mostly under exposed (the flower itself, not just the image) and the light is direct, hard, and unpleasant, coming from the on-board flash. This means there are no shadows or wrapping gradations to make it look pleasant. Framing and composition are tight, and heavily left weighted, with no benefit coming from the negative space to the right. The thin depth of field doesn't make sense, because why would you want a thin slice of the flower to be in focus, and the rest is out? There's no benefit, and it's a "first week with a DSLR" red flag. The processing could save a bit of the under-exposure, and the colors are very "digital" looking, meaning that they're very flat and sterile. Processing could warm the tones a bit, and unify the colors to make it more artistic and less clinical. Having a totally black background makes it seem as if this flower is lost and alone in space, in the dark. That's a really negative unpleasant almost creepy feeling, that doesn't mesh well with the idea of a beautiful bloom.

Big thanks for that feedback! I only took two other flower pictures but if I'll do it again I will think about your input.
So for the flash, I didn't knew any other way to black out the background other than underexpose the picture and then light up the flower with a turned down flash. I took some with different dephts but to me they looked too clean, might indeed be that's because I just got the lense. With the colours I even put a bit warmth in because the flower itself was even paler, but I didn't want it to be too colourfull. Framing I indeed should experiment more, there I'm really sticking to much with the subject beeing in the left.
I didn't want to achieve a beautifull flower in it's bloom, but one which was fading away which fit the upcoming winter.
