So this photograph of my city is apparently going viral. What does /p/ think?
Composition and subjects are pretty great to be fair.

It looks staged. Lighting is strange.
>>2733835
It's not staged its a press photograph from New Years Eve
>>2733837
I think what he's saying is that it's getting popular because of the staged-look it as. There's multiple scenes going on here, like a renaissance painting.

There's some really nice color contrast, although it is indeed too saturated. Due to the bright coolors, as my eyes dart around the image, they lead to the subjects of the photo, which tell a story of sorts. There's a clash of humor (the old man on the road) and also the macabre buy being held down by the police.
The angle and composition is quite nice. It's not overly wide so there is not much to clutter/distract you, and it's well framed.
I give it an 8/10
Subject is interesting but photo looks like shitty hdr
>Composition and subjects are pretty great to be fair.
I would say they're good but it just seems to be missing something. It looks nice but that's all I can say about it really.
There's depth to the image and contrast but there doesn't seem to be anything really holding my attention anywhere in the frame

always nice to see a fellow mancunian 'round here. i love the shot, though the composition could be better, it took me a while to notice the guy lying on the floor. As far as nightlife photography goes though I still hold Maciej Dakowicz's Cardiff After Dark series right up there with the best of them

It's just showing typical British degeneracy. What's so special about it?
The classical composition struck me immediately. Another anon says it looks staged, and it really does; the positioning and poses are so balanced and evocative. This guy Goodman is some combination of incredibly lucky and incredibly talented.

I'm not a /p/ anon, but I just saw this image on the front page and have to ask, what needs to be going on in each of the frames of that damn spiral? I don't understand this whole "It looks like a Renaissance painting" bit.
>>2733972
It's called the golden ratio and it's based on the Fibonacci numbers. It's the way the compostion is split up into aesthetically pleasing sections. Can you not see how the vertical is aligned perfectly with that wall and the end of spiral meets with the focal point?
>>2733981
>It's called the golden ratio and it's based on the Fibonacci numbers.
stop listening to Tool and grow up.
>>2734054
What?
>>2734063
The golden ratio is total bullshit with about as much credibility as numerology. It's a textbook example of overfitting.
>>2733924
looks like the right light level.
>>2733965
Oh, that's just gorgeous.
>>2734119
7 stops under exposed.
This is perfect. Even a greggs and the arndale in the background
some of this guys photos are fantastic.
the ones from 2014/15 are great too.
anyone know his name?
>>2734617
Joel Goodman it's on OPs image.
>>2733880
a) that's utterly shit
b) tripcodes are for subhuman scum
this picture was probably taken with a crop sensor camera or maybe even with a phone. A full-frame camera with a huge lens probably wouldn't have had everything in focus like that.
>>2734645
>buy EOS 5D mk3
>low light image so noisy someone thinks it was taken with a phone

These are the people giving advice on /p/

These are the people that should be killing themselves in irl
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our friends on /pol/

The composition of OPs photograph is on par with Renaissance art.
