Ive decided to throw up some more, the colours look straight up wrong on my laptop so im using photoshops auto colour feature as a bit of a temporary crutch. They seem ok on my phone now.

New thread cos the last is about to 300

I woke up before sunrise to view a hindu pilgrimage and get out of the ridiculous contrast of the daylight. Some of the content aware fill needs doing properly, but a combination of weak laptop and touchpad just sucks.

Strong start!

Let's see where it goes.
>>
india is wild, you been on one beach and seen 3 different colours of sand
>>
Why the Hell did you spend time processing these just to put some Auto Colour on it?

>>2729762
Green Sand, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't green when it left Lightroom judging by how hard you desaturated green and blue while boosting red and orange.
>>
>>2729777
The sun is green.

I can't tell if you started this thread with photos of peoples' backs just to troll, or not.

You might want to get that monitor of yours calibrated, it's clearly worse than my colour shifting pos screen AND my red/green colourblindness combined.

Or you're just the most visually illiterate person on the board. As you can see here, the sand is on the orange side of yellow and i actually pulled the reds and oranges.

>>2729776
Surely you meant to say i saw sand under 2 different light temperatures and some red clay ;)

>>2729786
There was indeed a mild element of troll. People seem to be more keen to jump on things that can be instantly dismissed with the colour inspector and basic knowledge of light though. Its like you guys dont even try any more :(

I'm not the one that fails to understand green vs magenta tone.

Here, I added even more green and it's still "on the orange side of yellow" so that should tell you, immediately, that there's more to colour balance than you know.

Would've been stronger had you not cropped the weighty side of the clouds. Compositional issue. Figures could also stand to be either vertically or horizontally centered, or if you're going to offset, a further offset.

>>2729762
Obvious "squareness to avoid untoward elements" takes away a lot from this. Too many distractions for a central square composition. Could have probably gotten closer and more head-on, more compression would improve this because, frankly, no ones cares about anything in this scene other than dude and his utensils.

>>2729763
Terrible execution. Great missed opportunity for a central square, unlike the last show. If you'd gotten low, it looks like you could have even done a tricolor stripe. Shame, dag.

>>2729880
This is a computer monitor, a terrible photograph.

>>2729884
Another decent shot that could have been great if you weren't afraid of getting low or close to things. Another missed opportunity, geometrically.

>>2729887
Poorly processed, poorly handled potential foreground object with whatever the stick is in the sand. Killed the clouds with your crop again.

>>2729892
Lmao your Samyang is busted as fuck and so is this photo.
Just the four figures to the right, more breathing room next to dudes eat, and this could have been a powerful repetition. Shame.

>>2729975
Decent, another missed opportunity for a central square. Getting lower and cutting out some of that blank expanse of green would improve this, as would getting lower and closer to get rid of the sand that you shit in.

>>2730014
Strong-ish, but still hamfisted in your attention to headroom for the clouds. Getting a little lower, yet again, could have helped you get a little more sky in above them. Another benefit of doing so would be to get the beach as the horizon, rather than the far-off water with irrelevant waves. This would also allow your sky-mirror come closer to kissing the sky in the right-central point.

Tighten up your autism.

You might have worked out by now that i think central horizons look jank.

Also on a couple of the shots were you said i should be lower, they were on my tripod at its lowest. Setting of about 1'. Theres a steep drop from the sand to the sea as you approach it, if you had left flatabama at any point you might know more about the variables of coastal geography, Bigger Waves make for a steeper shore.

My main enemy was the rising sun though. From 30 second exposures to half a second took no more than 30 mins. And once the sun is up everythings back to janky contrast.

>this is a computer monitor, terrible photograph

And yeh, i have my 35mm shift lens with me, need an excuse to give it a go for a panorama! Im really looking forward to getting out of these tourist bubble towns.

>>
>>2730140
>Have you been to kerala, is there anywhere a bit off the normal tourist path you would recommended?

I haven't been to Kerala sorry. And no no no no no. Do not go anywhere alone that's not touristy. You don't speak Hindi or maliyali (Kerala language), you're white and you have a shiny camera. Although people are better in the south, there are lots and lots of thieves and potentially kidnappers. Make a friend and take him with if you want to go anywhere less populated. Honestly you could just hit up any village and talk to the locals, they'll most likely give you a feed and tell you places to go that you'd like. You can however pay for one of those dingy rides through the calm lakes in the forests/swamps, you'll be alone there, ask the fella to drop you off somewhere lone and not artificial. There are rather beautiful ponds and waterfalls in forests in Kerala.

But remember, do not go alone to anywhere that's too isolated, I can't emphasise this enough. Oh and carry some sort of anti-venom if you can for the jungle areas.
>>
>>2730150
Yeah, villages is the kind of remote i want, not middle of fuck nowhere! Good to hear that just rocking up and talking to locals can be done.

I usually have my tripod with hefty 3 way mount slung over my shoulder, it feels fairly confident as a self defense tool, but I'm super down with finding locals and going on day trips with them. The tour guides here want crazy amounts of cash, i aint giving a standard months wages for some dude to show me a couple of boring temples in a day.
>>
>>2730151
Definitely, villages are great. Villagers are great. Just have a translator (just in case they don't speak English. Google translate should do fine if you don't find a person to help (hopefully you have mobile data). Anyway, the rickshaw or taxi driver should be help out too actually. Ask if the driver speaks English first, be a little generous with the money, not too much, 100 rupees extra will do them good. Also, don't show how much money you have, keep how many notes you need for the ride and a bit for when they help out, be implicit with money.

• try get fixed fare rides not on meter.
• stay handy with all your belongings.

Are you going anywhere aside from South India? South India is famous for spicy food and forest areas. So try get some food photography in there too. Dosa, sambhar, idli and whatnot.

wont have internet for a day or two far from home and NZ roads are dangerous and I'm driving.

You stay safe, good luck, have fun. Keep posting and try get those panoramas in too

>>
>>2730192
He says he used auto colour in the OP. White balance is a skill you learn over time, and calibrating your monitor will help a lot. There are things that you remember the colour of, like a banana or a red apple, or sand, and can use that to judge when something's temperature or tone is off.

Until that happens you can Google images of something in a photo and compare.
>>
>>2730038
>You might have worked out by now that i think central horizons look jank.

Please tell me more about how all rocks are the same colour in every light. Lol.

>compare to things off google
You mean, learn how to set white balance based on what the dominant light source you want to use is falling on.
Like the white linen clothing they are wearing...

Dude just stop, its embarrassing.

>>2730264
If you knew my photos you would know that i quite often have central compositions. But to me a central horizon makes an image lack weight. I have a couple in my collection that use it to emphasize the symmetry in reflections, but they are very rare for me

Isi even suggested that if i went lower and had a central horizon that i could get a tricolor effect with the sky, sea and ground. Low to the ground, pointed straight out, off the top of a cliff, how much sea would you see? I even have a version of that shot with a central horizon, i felt it was much weaker.

Being an experienced photographer is about knowing when to break the rules, not to force it. Thanks for your comments though.

Y'all need as much chill as this doggo.

You make it sound like there are only 3 positions a tripod can be in; on the ground, in the middle, or up top.

How does that indicate she fails to grasp physics?

Isi's problem is that she can't _take_ advice.

Yeah, the only difference being moopco can actually take decent shots, whereas isi posts 100+ photos in a thread and not a single fucking one is any good. Her advice doesn't mean shit if she can't even execute it herself.
>>
>>2730328
I wouldn't say there's really much difference between the quality of their shots, but at least moop doesn't act like his are masterpieces.

Are we talking about the same two people? isi refers to half of what she posts as snapshits, while moop argues with people about white balance.

>And orange and green are pretty opposite on the spectrum.

waaaaaat
>>
>>2729975
>orange and green are pretty opposite on the spectrum

1. That makes no God damn sense.

2. Blue and yellow / orange are actually opposite colours and yet, we use them to tell if an image is too cold or too warm in white balance. So what's your point? Colour is more than a one-dimensional transition, hue is just one metric in one model, which is currently doing you absolutely no good.
>>
>>2730380
I've seen her admit to posting extremely varying qualities of work many times.
She knows how to take a technically excellent photo, she just doesn't seem to care about always doing it.

I'm not sure why people struggle to wrap their head around "mid-20s girl shoots artistic landscapes, and snapshoots her lifestyle"

It's like expecting a chef to never eat fast food.

You don't have to be a pro to critique. That's a fallacious if you think so. Judges can be shit at whatever they judge but their tips can be 10/10.

Not in this case though. isi was just being retarded there
>>
>>2730237
I just realized isi is the new carlos.
>>
>>2730395
>She knows how to take a technically excellent photo

That's just the thing. When she thinks she's taken a good photo but people don't like it, instead of actually listening to what they have to say she tries to prove their taste wrong with technical knowledge she's googled.
>>
>>2730426
I've never seen this happen, just you saying this over and over.
I do remember her using a histogram to prove she didn't block her shadows or blow her highlights when someone claimed she did. She was obviously right.

She obviously doesn't come to /p/ for feedback, because she's one of the best at giving it out. What's she supposed to learn from some newfag that thinks centering the horizon is the devil?
>>
>>2730426
Your opinion about the photos she takes does not come close to mattering how she should take her photos. Saying "I don't like what you've done" is not a court mandate for her to change or acknowledge what you've said. If you point out a detail that is factually sound, or relevant, she takes it into account, and works to correct it. The problem that people seem to have with isi is that she is taking the photos that she wants to take, and she's taking them to the exact level that she wants to be taking them. Telling her how you think she should do them differently doesn't affect her. She wants the subjects she takes, she is thoughtful in her approach to her scene, she has reasons for doing the things she does, and she's capable of backing her photos up.

She isn't listening to what you have to say because you're not saying anything worth hearing.
>>
>>2730430
>If you point out a detail that is factually sound, or relevant, she takes it into account, and works to correct it
Is that why she has 100 pictures of the same piece of wood in the ocean?
>>
>>2730421
You don't have to be a pro to critique. Judges for diving or gymnastics may not be better than the people they're judging. but they are, undeniably, experts in the field, knowing what to watch for, how to judge, and how to grade people based on a clearly stated goal.

Someone willing to give critique should, for instance, know that a photo can have far too much green in it, without it being green.

Someone who is looking to receive critique should, for instance, acknowledge that, if there is a whole spectrum of color he has never ever seen in his live, and if he is looking at his photos on a self professed poorly calibrated display, maybe the dozen or so people who CAN see color, on their properly calibrated screens, may be saying something correct, and go "oh, thanks for the heads up guys. I can't see those colors, so it's useful to hear. How is this version? Any better?"

But that's not how it goes with moop. If he did a thing, it is the best thing, and anyone who doesn't like it is "visually illiterate" despite the fact that, in stead of having reasons for doing what he did, he in stead has excuses for why it isn't better, assuming that those excuses improve the photo and that we should all like his mediocre tourist shots more, knowing that he purposefully didn't put any effort in.

No I agree but it shouldn't be treated as a photo shoot. Isi and other anon are going at it like he's joeyL. A bit too serious. A bit too obsessive.
>>
>>2730492
All that matters is the photos. If he wants to blog about it, he should do it on reddit, or facebook. His photos are okay. There is room for improvement. /p/ is now, and has always been, a place to get told why your photos suck, so that you can either improve, or get mad and leave.

>>
>>2730703
She means if you pointed your camera lower dumbass.
>>
I'm afraid I'll disagree with some of isi's statements.

>>2729763
I don't think OP lost any opportunity here. The photograph looks well composed for me. The "tricolor stripe" scheme seems disposable for the sake of what OP achieved here: the large space occupied by the sky makes the scene somewhat synthetic, which works well with the strong shapes that those guys gave him -- specially the guy in the middle. There's a quality in the fact that these strong shapes, being in the bottom portion of the scene, give the image some kind of stability. I'm not telling isi's idea is bad. I just think it would be a different, not necessarily better photograph.

>>2729884
Same thing here, to some degree.

The sky only seems "unnecessary" here: >>2729975

But here... >>2730014
I think I'd do exactly as OP did. If I'm understanding the ground in this scene correctly, getting lower, as isi says, would break the almost straight line between the sand and the sea. The ground doesn't seems to be as plain as it looks in this photograph; it has some little hills, I think. By getting lower, OP would have these hills agains the sky, which would be somewhat distractive from what matters -- the shape of the water between the sand. I see no problem with the sea in the distance. I think the sea merges well with the sky...

The only critic I'd have for OP is that his work seems a bit inconsistent for me sometimes.

>>2729762
This isn't as good as the photos I quoted above. Get closer!

By virtue of the fact that, if you hate her, you can filter her out, she wins. Anyone who doesn't like isi doens't ever have to read a single word she says, or look at a single photo she takes. You can completely erase her from your life if you want. But the issue with people who hate isi isn't isi. It's the fact that she won't do what you tell her, and so you can't filter her, because then she'd be free to do what makes her happy, rather than what you want.

Then we have Moop, who spreads terrible suggestions, straight up wrong information, and a vomit on turtle shit attitude, and there's nothing you can do about it. The reason that you were banned is not just because you're a cunt asshole to me specifically, but that you behave that way to almost everyone. Furthermore, even though I strive to avoid drama-stoking by never posting in any of your threads for any reason, you seem to thrive on drama and seek it out. The evidence is in your own actions: you always bring me up, spread a truckload of false information, even if it has nothing to with what's presently being discussed.

Now normally, we would tolerate that shit for an eternity before taking any action, but in yours, I lost my temper and my patience. Still, except in a few exceptional cases, these bans are temporary and you are in fact unbanned. Welcome back!

Your continued acceptance is not without conditions: we ask you to stop doing a couple of things.

1. Don't stoke drama
2. Don't spread falsehoods
3. Don't accuse people of things that you have no evidence for
4. Don't use sockpuppets
5. Don't present demonstrably wrong information as factual
6. And this is not a strict requirement, but how about ending your practise about lying to make yourself look better? We can see right through that shit.

Otherwise you'll find yourself quickly re-banned for reasons that I hope you can understand.

Yours sincerely,
agno

The best bit is the 5 or so people that idle 24/7 and never say a word. So weird, so desperate for a human connection. Or how isi has removed all the contact details from her website and changed her facebook so its harder to find her and her family, I'm glad i dont fuck people off to the point of living in fear and jeopardising any chance of a business website.
>>
>>2731156
Is this what the world looks like through your psychosis? I don't think anyone's believing you man... Do they not have your meds at pharmacies in India? You should have brought some with you.

I've had isi on facebook for abt 2 years and I've never been able to see her friends list.

lmaooooo you fucking cuck, look at you, shooting in the dark, also i dont think you know what "psychosis" means, so maybe first educate yourself before spouting shit around like an ignorant retard

>>
>>2731167
Not that guy, but:

>i dont think you know what "psychosis" means, so maybe first educate yourself before spouting shit around like an ignorant retard

Psychosis refers to an abnormal condition of the mind described as involving a "loss of contact with reality"

Seems pretty dead on accurate to me.

If that did indeed happen, it would be you that did it, (especially after a comment like: "isi has removed all the contact details from her website and changed her facebook so its harder to find her and her family") then it would be exactly the opposite... if she were taking that down, it would be because of you "fucking people off to the point of living in fear" no?

this thread is fucked. Sorry moopco, less photos and more argument about random shit kills the mood. Good luck, have fun and stay safe. I'm out.

She trips. What you seem incapable of understanding is that it is entirely possible that with your abrasive attitude and shitty personal skills, there is far more than one person who dislikes you. You can pretend that every single person in this thread is one girl you seem pretty obsessed with, but it's very obviously not true. I'm sorry if your ego cannot take that fact, but it does not change the truth.

Apologies guys, this is why i dropped my trip originally. The irc nerds couldnt take any banter and have gone full retard for a good couple of years now. Irc is where all the people that p reject go to form a hugbox and to coordinate bullying attacks, hence why ricky got swatted, between isi and agno they've written more words than war and peace in a year.

No, they're just all from irc hating because it's funny to hate, not anything related to actual photos, or behavior. (Ignore the fact that IRC only has about 10 active posters, many of which are also anti isi)
>>
>>2731619
To be fair, that goes the other way too.

They're both as bad as each other.
>>
>>2731950
I like to give the board the benefit of the doubt, to assume that there is only one person as disconnected from reality as moopco. He's also slipped up in his samefagging enough times to make it a valid assumption.

not this shit again. Last time I saw this happen I recommended that mentally disabled guy to go fcking out and do something. So he went to india and decided to call her crazy ex on /p/.
>>
>>2731951
True but isi assumes anybody who doesn't fawn over her both as a person and a photographer must be him and that's almost as crazy.
I think I speak for most of the board when I say I would prefer them to keep their bitching in the IRC channel and just post pics here but that's not going to happen.
>>
>>2732007
>True but isi assumes anybody who doesn't fawn over her both as a person and a photographer must be him and that's almost as crazy.
This is untrue. Moop is pretty easily identifiable, because he brings up shit from the past that you can spot if you've been subjected to his insanity for long enough. He has a very particular way of talking, which is pretty easy to pick up on too. He stays calm, in a way that is supposed to make you feel and look stupid for disagreeing with him. She may miss the mark here and there, but the people who follow her around the most viciously are very small in number, and are generally easy to pick out of the lot.

Also, if you give her thoughtful critique related to art, or photography, she'll happily converse with you, and discuss technique, or intent. If you attack her for being isi, she trolls you. It happens all the time, and it's fun to watch.
>>
>>2732012
My only interaction with her has been telling her I liked some of her pics and being called an idiot by her in return.
She loves conflict and will do anything to stoke it. I don't care if you agree though.
Nice thread.
>>
>>2732069
That definitely sounds true. Link to the interaction Feel free to look into the archives.
>>
>>2732071
I really don't care enough about this to go through the last several isi threads to find a comment saying something like "I really like this one"

i'll have to disagree. "onto" is for moving on top of things or for describing being aware of something, such as "i moved onto the steps" or "i'm onto your scheme". "on to" is for when "on" is part of the verb, like in "move on".

http://data.grammarbook.com/blog/definitions/on-to-vs-onto/

moopco was just plain wrong, unfortunately. the sooner we accept it, the sooner he can get used to the idea.
>>
>>2733774
No it is in fact, 'on to' in this case. "Onto" is be upon something. Unless you're talking about her literally jumping on medications and essentially stomping them. In which case you'd be correct.
