I just figured out why. It brings all the little details to the forefront and gets rid of the crooked looking cabinets in the bottom half of the photo.
finally got a rabal after a year of almost exclusively shooting film+phone
really impressed by the ef 50mm/1.8 and 18-55 STM and 50/1.8 II. the 700d body I got feels like a toy and has a tiny viewfinder window compared to my AE1P but otherwise works fine and produces great raws

Less than 1000 people live there and there is absolutely nothing around except for some wind turbines, fields and woods.

As a guitarist and photographer the first one, way better, not that it's good.
Reasons:
There's an area of interest framed in the picture, the second one only has the bridge pick up being there completely uninteresting.
DoF is greater in the first one, this makes the instrument stand out more, in the second one again, it's just the bridge pick up and nothing else... strings don't stand out, bridge could have been part of it but isn't, pickguard looks meh, the neck is sitting there but it's blurry and the bokeh isn't anything special.
If the finish of the first guitar is nice, I'd make it brighter, if it's just a chinese whatever then it's ok to mask a shitty wood layer.
Is it a filter or natural vignette? I'd go against filter and use a nicer background and lighting instead.
