What's a good focal length for portraits? Is a 35mm on a crop censor good for full body shots without fucking up the face?
pic unrelated

ya, not as good as 50mm, but not bad.

depends on the quality of lens, how much context you want to be shown and whether you shoot studio, indoors or outside. Show me a pic you want to do and I'll tell you what would be the perfect focal lenght
Not OP, but what's people's opinion on 50mm for aps-c for portraits and in general?
I hear eerything from "it's an awkward focal length that's not really good for anything" to "it's the bestest fun way to walk around and an excellent budget portrait lens"

50mm on crop is perfect for wider portraits. There is no argument against it.

35mm is an ideal walk around focal length for APS-C
60mm is an ideal wide portrait focal length for APS-C.
50 is only slightly wider than 60, and some (not the $99) 50mm lenses double as 1:1 macro lenses. pretty good stuff.

maybe if you live in a dojo, sempai. No way to shoot a full body shot in a normal size room with a 50 mm lens.

Uh, 50mm is still pretty wide lmao
