And the last one.

I recently (a week ago) started to try night sky photography, so far I myself am quite pleased with the results.

You guys are probably not though, so rip me apart if you want. IF you do, explain why my work is shit please.

all mostly uninteresting
a lot of people think stars=instant 10/10
>>2719134
this one is awkward

why are you shooting at 6400?
>>
>>2719130
you could've framed there a bit tighter to the sky. The artificial lights seem messy and ruin th ephoto
>>
>>2719190
>>why are you shooting at 6400?
he probably has to. 18mm f/3.5
get a Samyang 16/2 or something
>>
>>2719344
i didnt stop to think that 3.5 might be as wide as he could go
>>
>>2719190
Couple of reasons
1: Because I am about 700 meters away from some towns and a bigger city. There isn't really a place near me I can reach by bicycle that does not have light pollution, so I need to ETTR to get somee nice stars.
2: I only have the kit lens. So 18mm f/3.5 is the fastest I can go, which means higher ISO.
>>
>>2719134
Bring out that peaceful young man more in post.
>>
>>2719430
I'll actually give this a shot. I tried it before but it kind of made it look fake. I was kind of radical when it came to the exposure though.

>>2719254
Hmm, maybe I can crop it a little from the right side, that would make the mast go a little to the right as well, further to the 2/3rd line.
I tried to compose it so the feet of the mast would still be in the frame, and I'd like too keep that, so I can't crop away too much.
>>
its electrcisingly shocking
>>
Lacking visual interest
Interesting subject! = interesting photo
Worse still, stars aren't a subject or interesting, they can make for a pretty backdrop though.

When taking night shots, consider if the composition would be good and interesting in the day time. If the answer is no, let it go.
>>
>>2719442
>lacking visual interest
I agree with this actually, but in the area I live in there isn't anything that does appeal to the eye in terms of visual interest. All there is, are pastures and the occasional ditch here and there. Since I don't have a drivers license yet there isn't really a way of me to go to a more interesting location.

>>2719439
clever.
>>
>>2719472
Bullshit.

Everyone thinks ther home town is boring.

Photography is about shape, colour, contrast and texture. These things are literally everywhere. You just haven't got your eye in yet, practice more.
>>
>>2719472
So you don't have any dead trees or old barns or windmills or rock formations or an old tractor or anything else that you are guaranteed to find in farm paddocks/pastures?
>>
>>2719476
Hmm, I guess I'll have to train that then yeah. Any directions in terms of what you would be looking for in these kinds of situations?

>>2719477
Dead trees might be the only option here. Since it's winter, no farmer is doing anything outside. All their cows are inside and don't come out and the grass doesn't grow so the tractors stay inside too.
Windwills sadly are on the other side of the Netherlands.
I actually know where to find a really nice dead tree though! That might be a good option. If I go there, I'm hoping for a little mist on the ground too... That would be great!
>>
>>2719487
I could advise things I shoot, but what's the point in that, look through your catalogue, find what works for you, expand on it. If you've got less than 5'000 shots, just go crazy, don't be afraid to go wild with the crop tool to find things that catch your eye.
>>
>>2719488
I'm wasn't really looking for the subjects themselves, mainly for a pointer in a general direction so I can expand from there. Not that that really makes a differance.

Thanks for the tips anyway!
>>
>>2719476
>photography is about shape colour contrast and texture

Genuinely curious, are you the one who posted >>2719442

Because if so, you seriously just contradicted yourself.

Doesn't look like you're focusing at infinity properly, your stars look pretty blurry.
