So I went in China 4 months ago.
Asking for C&C

Nice motive, shot would benefit from a tighter framing to get rid of the "void" dark parts where nothing is happening.
>>2715613
What were you trying to show us? A couple sitting on a bench? Then why shove them into the corner of the photo? Did you want to show the alley? Then why focus on the couple?
>>2715615
Should've moved a little to the left to not have the lamp block the guy's appearance.
>>2715620
Would've been an amazing shot if focus was on the woman on the right. And again, tighter framing.
>>2715621
Looks like a quick shot done without much thought while passing that stand.
>>2715623
Doesn't do anything for me, however you have a good color contrast going on there.
As a frequent China traveller myself (mainly guangdong area): where have you been?
>>2715631
Qingdao, Beijing, Huangshan, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Xi'an
Thanks for the feedback
>>2715633
>Qingdao
Aaaah. Glorious beer comes from that location.
>>2715634
Well, currently living in Europe, I wouldn't say that.
But their seafood is great!
>>2715643
Jesus, this is why I want to visit China.
We're halfway there.
I'll be posting more after diner.
>>2715631
Most of the shots where quickly done. I was traveling with some friends and did not want to be a burden, asking to stop for taking pictures every 5 seconds.
This + manual focussing (i'm using old manual lenses) resulted in a lot of failures.
For example this one, that is sadly out of focus.
I'm globally pretty new to this, this travel being the occasion to start being into photography.

Likewise, there's no consistency between the post-processing of a lot of pics. I went a bit hard sometimes, like in the blue caps shot.
I guess I was generally more attracted to colors than to shapes / structure.
I realized it was hard for me to "see" a good composition while walking, without resting still to analize it fully. Things always seem to look better while in motion I guess.

especially by night
I've put a tad more pics on flickr to share them more easily with relatives and friends.

Don't hesitate to C&C on those as well, they are not necessarily highlights.
next goes Shanghai
It was a shame I ad no tripod.
I wouldn't really have had time to stop, though, as I was never by myself.
We went on top of a building that looked like a bottle opener.

There is a big muslim community in Xi'an.
... and done.
That's all, folks.
>>2715727
I hope you stopped at the Shanghai Museum. It is my favorite museum in the world.
>>2715767
Holly Molly, no I didn't.
I did the National museum in Beijing which was pretty cool yet sobber I'd say.
I'll probably go to the museum of natural history of Paris next week. Looking forward to it.

OP here, I basically used filters aimed at reproducing the look of film photography.
I am personally using Capture One along filters bought on http://captureonestyles.com/.
I guess the most popular plugins of the sort are made by VSCO, but they are hella expensive for what they are.
I also think you could very much reproduce those looks with no plugins, using standard tools in Capture One or Lightroom (curves, color adjustments ...).
have to say i love the street pics OP
I am not a fan of all the photos you have posted, OP, but the night shots sure look nifty as fuck. Great colors; totally in love with the slight cyan-ish hue in some of the midtones/shadows.
Nice pics OP but did you get to put penis in vagina of some poor local qt gf who thought you would marry her and save her from poverty?
What gear OP?
>>2715778
by taking your fucking ISO off auto so that you can actually control the exposure of the image. OR shoot in aperture priority and use exposure compensation which is probably a better thing to do. you absolute nigger.
>>2718184
A7 with 28mm and 50mm Minolta MC lenses
>>2718183
We stayed in big cities,si the qts weren't as poor as you'd expect
>>2718195
OP here, the A7 exposure is utter crap with older manual lenses. I was most of the time in manual exposure.

There is some nice stuff there, also some that seems rather aimless but maybe it just lacks some kind of context

Then remember most of your photos will need some sort of explanation as to where and what it is it is. This may be in the form of a caption or a piece of text that introduces your subject.
