Hello /p/
I want to equip my bedroom with one or two always-on cameras. But there's so many choices out there... webcams, surveillance cameras, etc.
All I want is crisp and smooth 1080p at 30 fps and a sensor that has no IR flter. So I'll also need to have a hidden but fairly strong IR light source in the room.
Ideally, the video would be saved straight to the server I have in the guest room, and only save the last 3 days of footage.
Does any of you have a set-up like this in your home? Or anything similar?

Well you're either perverted (/s/) or paranoid (/k/) so good luck.

I am a pervert, and I have my significant other's blessing. The need for covertness is merely for the sake of guests.

But anyway, you can get most cameras modified for full spectrum or ir only conversion

Protip: just don't tell them it's for filming yourself raping your guests while they're sleeping.

I solved the IR light issue, and then realised the Raspberry Pi camera board wouldn't be good enough.

Ended up ordering a Raspberry Pi Noir camera, a Samsung SmartCam HD Pro, and a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920. Will attempt removing the IR filter from the Logitech camera. So I'll have two angles in poor light, three in good light. :)
you're fucking stupid OP
also just get a simplicam shit works for me; i can login from anywhere and check up on my puppers; software is neat does 720p; has built in ir for low light shit works. service doesn't cost anything.

There is no hyphen in "déjà vu". It is French and literally means "already" (déjà) "seen" (vu), as in:
"Je l'ai déjà vu." (I have already seen it.)
It is the opposite of "jamais vu", which is used in English to refer to familiar situations that are not recognized by someone, but just means "never seen".
Also related is "presque vu" ("almost seen"), which is also called the tip-of-the-tongue phenomenon, or "avoir le mot sur le bout de la langue" in French (Having the word on the tip of the tongue).

/p/photo/g/rapher here, can't really call myself a /g/entooman anymore since I hardly ever go there now, but I digress
What kind of server so you have and what kind of storage? are you willing to pay for software? What's your budget? Do you really need 1080p? What is your intention?

I have an HP Microserver with 12 terabytes of storage which runs Ubuntu. Ethernet wiring throughout the apartment with 2 to 4 jacks in each room, and 802.11ac wifi too.
My intention is to record our nocturnal activities. We've done that loads in the past, but whenever we actively get cameras involved (D750, D3200 or smartphones), it kills the mood a bit. So to effortlessly record *always* without compromising video quality too much would be ideal.
Budget's perhaps 400 EUR (I'm a poor student after all), but I tend to get carried away if I'm not satisfied.
