>Is this the quality of Magnum Photographers nowadays?

directly from the normiebook comments section

MAGNUM BFTO

now, D'Agata is no photojournalist at all, but still, quite a crap photo for a Magnum pro

who
gives
a
shit
>>
The photographer was pretty much in a war zone, in the dark. The photo was most likely immediately rushed to the editors for publication without any editing. It's a shit, rushed photo, but that's what you'd expect from an event like this.

i give a shit about photo quality. you keep giving it about latest canikon releases.

>>2704362
film era photos were way better. be it warzone, crime scene, accidents, guys were ruthless and bold. i have yet to see a current day event photo that isnt some forgettable crap that also looks shit.

also i expected some raw emotion from d'agata, thats his thing. not a literal snapshit a kid could do.

>>2704364
its because the world has changed, not because the medium has changed
the world was much safer to journalists just 20 years ago
>>
>cellphones will replace real cameras in journalism
Not according to this photo
>>
>>2704356
he's probably scared shitless of the gunfire.
>>
>>2704364
You are just a jealous shit talker. If you think it can be done better, go do it.
>>
>>2704364
Holy shit you're a dumbass if you think film journalism was any better than it is now. You're probably cherrypicking the best of that era to the worst photos of today.

lol

off the top of my head, what are the best of current days? that photo of two faggots from russia hugging? such bravery wow. how about the hamfisted pic of the boston bombing crip in a jesus position? such symbolism, very award

film era journalists had balls.
>>
>>2704401
No.
Film era journalists had fewer terrorists explicitly targetting them.
It was a time of innocence where most "bad guys" would just as soon show off to the camera in hopes of their side of the story being heard.

In the modern era, people are wary of cameras. We're post-internet, post-widespread images.

You're an idiot.
>>

>the world was much safer to journalists just 20 years ago
>le world has become darker after 9/11 meme

listen, faglord, the world has been a hellhole since forever. maybe youre just a young millenial who thinks hes living the worst of recorded history, but thats clearly dumb.
>>
>>2704406
Maybe people would take you seriously if you learned to articulate yourself, faggot.
>>
>>2704394
>no less than 3 photographers, everybody else is playing dead, and some dude in the back ground looks like he's laughing
>>
>>2704406
the world as a whole isnt darker
the prospects of being beheaded as a photojournalist are much more real though

if you think thats a meme youre just a fucking idiot.

You have absolutely no idea what it's like to be in a situation like that. You're just shitposting your opinion with a closed mind on 4chan all day. Go look at some photo essays from recent years. They're amazing. Look at the work being done in Iraq, Syria, Ukraine and even the coverage of race riots in the United States. It's amazing.
>>

>D'Agata is no photojournalist

So why blame him?
>>
>>2704420
Then can we agree with the initial point that magnum has gone to shit? Clearly other contemporary photographers are able to produce good work.
>>
>Photojournalism

Sorry, I fell asleep for a minute there.
>>
>>2704405

Are you fucking daft? The first two magnum heads were killed covering shit. Robert Capa almost got fucking killed constantly. You think in veitnam or WW2 that the 'bad guys' gave a shit about the other sides photographers? They had their own fucking guys.
>>
>>2704498
Getting hit by being in a firefight IA very different than getting kidnapped and beheaded
>>
>>2704501

Oh okay. Robert Capa is lucky then!

Fucking idiot. Bonus points for not mentioning the time he almost got sniped.
>>
>>2704502
The only idiot here is the guy comparing global war events to kidnapping.
Journalists as casualties is different than targets.
>>
>>2704458
And what are you, an 'artistic' photographer?
>>
>>2704425
No, because the initial image is just a snapshot rushed to the press because the world needs up to the second news updates on everything. The better images will come in when they're ready.
>>
>>2704531
>the initial image is just a snapshot rushed to the press because the world needs up to the second news updates on everything.
>The better images will come in when they're ready
That same world that needs up to the second news updates on everything is also the world that has wifi transfer and even mobile editors.
Remember, get it right in the camera and style your PP after :^)
