I have never seen a Magic Lantern thread, so here is a Magic Lantern thread.
Things you want, find useful etc.
I use Magic on a 550D, great for video.

Best shit around for video.
Has some good photo features as well which should be default in canon firmware IMO.

Read the link.

I went from being like "what's the point of ML" to "how the fuck do you not just have ML on all your memory cards" in about 2 weeks

So what are the chances of ML completely fucking up my camera?
>>

Pretty low, as long as you follow the instructions. It doesn't install anything to your camera. It's more like a firmware patch that runs directly off your SD card. When you take the card you installed ML onto out of the camera it should go back to default.

I didn't really care at first because I don't shoot a lot of video, but there are some good photo features too, like focus peaking.
Dual iso is also especially useful because it expands the dynamic range of the camera significantly

ML doesn't actually change anything on your camera, so chances are next to impossible.

Wrong, at least a boot flag is set and of course ML controls the camera by changing settings which can lead to start-up errors if invalid values are written.
In order to reassure, almost entirely this will just happen to developers and code-reviewers/code-testers and the camera is not bricked since this can be reversed. I never had problems and I'm not following instructions which just works fine too.

>I'm not following instructions
I.e. I don't factory reset my camera to install ML and I do copy ML settings from old versions to new ones.

The only thing that ever happened to me is crashing from tweaking bit rates and such. Just required me to take the battery out for a few seconds.
