You have a lot of potential, at least by /p/ standards. Be sure to read more photography books. Keep your processing/cropping consistent throughout a set of pictures. Look for a moment in a scene, not just pictures of people walking away from across the street. Shoot more, lots more, there is no replacement for that.

Down't know about the X-E1, but you generally don't want to use Adobe products with Fuji cameras. I only hear bad things about that combo.

Lightroom will do just fine with Fuji files for raising and lowering exposure. If you're having trouble with skin tones or fine details, you'll want to try Capture One.

Because Fuji uses a unique type of color array (X-Tans) that gives it some unique abilities (Sharper photos without an anti aliasing filter, while avoiding the issue or moire that a Bayer color array is usually plagued by)
Adobe hasn't nailed down a way to deal with that unique color array in a very good way. They claim to be working on it, but it's yet to be seen. Meanwhile, other companies handle it much better. Iridient, Capture One, Photo Ninja, etc.

It's not as bad as it's made out to be, and you can absolutely take and process perfectly great photos with Lightroom. But if you want the most from your files, you'll need to find something to supplement your workflow.

The magnifications are different, which I can't explain, but you can still see how the fine detail is watery and smeared in the Lightroom file, and a lot less so in the Capture One file.
There are also times where Lightroom does a fantastic job. (pic related) I can't figure out a pattern to know when it will do well, and when it won't. It may have to do with the colors in the scene, or it could even be the lens used, and issues with profile correction.
