A dim alley with a thin sliver of bright light coming in at the top is always going to turn out like that.
On the other hand if you'd waited until twilight you'd have had light, both direct and reflected, from three lamps, the windows and doorways plus a blue evening cast in the sky to play with. Rich colours without having to trowel on the HDR like a cheap hooker

Dig some of your photos, I can't dig the photo of that guy skating the brick hip. I forget if it was Atiba or Arto or whoever it was, but a good reminder when taking skate photos is keeping the subject against a blank background, like the sky or a wall to avoid clutter around them. The board in that photo is going through 3 people and makes it hard to distinguish.

One piece of advice I could give (if you're looking for any) is to show people actually doing something whenever you're taking pictures of them. I see interesting setups like that girl in a room with a bucket of paint or that graffiti guy. There's obviously some story behind the images but in most of the shots they're just... standing there looking at the camera.

your composition is generally good but your colours are awful. most are over/under exposed and if you're taking photos of people get closer to them and bunch them closer together so the subject is clear. if not take pictures of the landscape without people.

basically the worst the photo you post the more favorites and followers you will receive. it seems to be when they think you're going to fave or follow them back they'll do it, if they think you won't do that they probably won't fave anything you have even if they like it. occasionally photos make it onto 'explore' by chance and if it makes it on there it will get a ton of faves and comments etc, so sometimes there's a shit tier photo with a ton of color in and by some mysterious algorithm it makes it onto explore and all the flickrtards will spam fave everything on there thinking it's good. it tends to be a certain exposure and highly saturated image that makes it on there, for some reason.
