I was invited to shoot this event up in Orlando Florida this year and i was wondering what a good all around short zoom lens i should rent.

For reference i have the Fuji XT1 (pic related) and i will be shooting exclusively indoors at Hotwife Convention 2016. Thoughts?

What kind of venue? What time of day? What kind of event? How much access will you have?

I'd hesitantly say a 24-70mm 2.8, but depending on the above, you might be better served with a 70-200mm.

Also, fucking gear thread asshole.
>>
>>2790765
As i said it's a indoor event called Hotwife Con. I will be shooting in dimly lit rooms and mostly people. I have full access to the entire premise and i'm allowed in and outside the premise. I will be up close and personal with the people and the rooms are quite small. I may be shooting video but photography is a must. Sorry for not posting in the gear thread.

1 MB,
What's a good monitor for editing photos? Mainly in lightroom, I'm currently using a cheap samsung 1920x1080 and it feels a little claustrophobic, I'm looking for a 4k monitor. I've read about the BenQ BL2711U and it seems a decent price (~£500 britfag coins). Not looking to spend over £700. Only complaints I can find about it are some dead pixels but if I get it from Amazon it should be fine?

I do photography with models and gels, colour is slightly important but I don't want to get excessive. Do you need one of those gay expensive colour matching thingy shits for this shit?

Bumping, because I am planning on building a rig for video editing and am a noob. Doesn't necessarily have to be 4k, but how important is color accuracy in monitors for editing. As important as good monitors for audio mixing?(I come from an audio recording hobby).
>>
>>2790573
Something with a wide gamut, and IPS (not TN)

Don't worry too much about it unless you're doing commercial printing. No matter how accurate your monitor is, and no matter how perfectly you get your colors and contrast, I'm going to look at it on my $200 acer monitor that's never been in the same room as calibration. Most of your viewers will not have calibration, and those who do, will have profiles that are very different from yours.
>>
>>2790591
Agree, color accuracy doesn't mean much unless you print a lot. It's meaningless when everyone is viewing it on uncalibrated consumer TN panels, phone or tablet screens. Most displays will come pre-calibrated in some way, and I haven't had to touch the calibration since I got mine a year and a half ago. I also own a BenQ.

That said, once you get an IPS display with truer color accuracy, wider gamut and larger viewing angles you'll never want a typical TN display again.

Would it be legal in your country to film yourself having sex in your own house if you never show it to anyone?

In Finland women often make up fake rape allegations to destroy a guy's life if he doesn't want them anymore. A tv presenter in Finland decided to film all the women he fucks in his house for personal insurance protection. What would happen to him in your country?

perfectly fine. but wait, do you plan to film without the woman you're with knowing that you're filming? if that's the case, then even though the sex is consented and you're in your house, maybe the revenge porn laws (after the fappening) might come into play and make your footage illegal in the usa
>>
In most sane countries the footage would not be permissible in court.

Some examples to draw something a photo can't capture? Especially in architecture?

1 MB,
I just got some film scans back (I don't have my own film scanner at the moment, so I have a local place scan them), and there's this line on the bottom left half of all of them, as you can see in this photo. Can anybody tell me what it is and why it's there? It can't be something on my lens or a problem with my camera, can it?
8 replies and 1 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
Also, I don't see it on the negatives, so either it's too small to see on them or it's a scanning issue.
>>
Is that not just the bottom of the negative...? Just crop it off.
>>
>>2790101

I don't think so because I can see a bit of the photo under it. I am cropping it, but I'm just curious about what caused it.

I bought a 50MM lens nikon 1.8
I use a nikon D3300 because i'm a noob.

now , i put on the lens on my camera body
Manuel mode
but i set the apparture on 1.8 it says
LOCK LENS APERTURE RING AT MINIMUM APERTURE ( largest f-/number )

and i can't take pics ?

If i put it on 22 , it will work ...

how ? what ? help ?

did i just rip myself off

aperture is controlled through the body
only focus will be manual on the lens
>>
>>2789737
This.
There's even a little locking switch to help you keep the lens set to f/22
This seems like something that could have been fixed by reading the manual. Or you could have at least posted it in the designated gear thread. Just a heads up for next time.
>>
>>2789736
i hate when cameras / lenses do that

if you're shooting manual it's easier to just twist the aperture ring just as you would twist the focusing ring

fucking nikon
