I have a 16-45mm lens which is nice and sharp but in a few occasions I found it being not long enough. Should I replace it with a 17-70 which is optically a bit worse for somewhat twice the money I can sell the 16-45mm?
Or just keep it and switch to the 70-200 when I need a longer lens? Maybe get a pancake instead for my GAS?
Is there still any real reason to spring for the Nikon 35 1.4G when the Sigma 35 Art seems to do literally everything better at a third of the price?
Objectively it's the weather sealing and the AF being designed by Nikon.
Subjectively lots of people go on about the "character" of the Nikon 35, the colours, the nano-coating, the bokeh.
Don't quite know how much is marketing BS but this is my first real expensive lens purchase so thought I'd ask.

I bought a Mamiya 645 Super recently and did some dslr scans of the first roll of negatives. It seems hitting focus is more difficult than I though, especially with the aperture wide open, but here are the ones that turned out quite okay

Has the quality of photography equipment gone down over the years? This is the third entry level camera/lens combo I have picked up in these last few months and consistently I am just not that impressed with the image quality.

One is a 40mm equivalent, the other is 50mm equivalent. Get the one you are comfortable with and/or like the image qualities better. Check Flickr for the lenses.

iirc, some of the panasonic lenses has a really slow autofocus. at least their pancake has in low light.
so watch out for that..
their leica 25mm collab is great iq wise, but i dont know about the autofocus on that one. but all this is basic research you would've found out by basic googling so gtfo.
