I want to start using Lightroom to manage my library, but what is the best way to sort my files on a hard drive before importing them to Lightroom?
I'm thinking of just creating a folder for my raw files, dumping everything in there organized by date or event, and then having a separate folder outside of that for exported images. Is that a proper way to do that?
>>2811409
Folders
Year/Month/Day-Subject
Inside there are raws. Once you convert to jpegs, put a subfolder called "Edits" or "JPEG" or whatever you want right in there.
>>2811410
If I put the JPGs in a supfolder with the raws, wouldn't that cause Lightroom to import the JPGs as well the next time it scans the folder? Or is there a way to prevent that?
And thanks!
>>2811409
i organize them by film emulsion :^)
Sadly these are only the photos I have on my phone. All were taken with an iPhone 5s (it's falling apart).
As I sit next to my wife's bed in the hospital I'm reflecting on this last trip we took to Myanmar and Thailand to visit her family I'm reminded how special she is and incredible times we've spent together. I couldn't ask for a more amazing wife.
Night shot of hotel pool... Timed exposure. Not to much noise on the iPhone 5s
Thai truck with 0 f's to give... And no blind spots. I think Mercedes calls this a 360 degree view.
I call bucket!!!
Where should i place the camera to take a photo like this?

What can you tell me about vintage cameras? I'm look for something from around the 1960s era. I like the way picture from that time looked and I'd like to get a camera from that era.

Pictures from that time looked that way because of the film (which you can't get anymore) the time it's been since they were printed (can't really be faked) and the content of the photos which was all period correct 60s clothing, haircuts, cars, decor, lighting, and colors. None of which will be present in your photos.
Buying a camera from the 60s will take photos that look the same as they do from a camera released in 2006, except maybe less sharp.
>>2811108
That sucks. Thanks anon. I guess my hipster fantasy will never be fulfilled.
You need a Leica M2 and a 50mm Summilux
So basically I'm staying in a very humid place for the next 2 weeks, and I only have one place to store my lenses that has over 50 percent RH.
I'm very afraid of fungus growing in my glass, what should I do? I've put a bowl with some salt in it and a bunch of silica bags but the RH is still pretty high...

Humidity is much less a concern than taking unsealed gear into the rain is.
Toss the silica bags into your bag for safe measure, but it won't prevent what is unlikely in the first place.

What is /p/'s thoughts on post edit?
I just started getting into Photography, got my first DSLR and took some shots today but found very few of them hit the mark without editing in Lightroom.
This pic is post edit, I will post pre-edit right after. Any tips to get better shots? I know it's gonna take time and practice but again. Total Noob so advice and help is welcome.

Anyone serious does editing in post.
Even for film. It's a naive attitude to say that only the pre-edit version is the real version. There is no 'real' version except for the actual photons that went into your camera.
>>2810946
people used to pp film as well, just in a different way. also, make sure you fix your horizon and remove that fucking watermark.
Do you carefully process your snapshits before posting them on the innernettes?
Why bother?
One of these images was carefully processed to correct colour, with a multi step sharpening method to preserve fine detail in the shot.
The other was exported at 1000px from the Canon raw converter, with an appropriate in-camera colour profile and whitebalance setting and default sharpening.
Is it worth it, /p/?
Is it time we all started shooting small JPEG?

If you're fine producing mediocre shots due to some form of purism, go nuts.
Look at it from this perspective: people may not notice it was post processed, but you achieved what you felt was the right look on your shot.
>>2810939
You process the images that need processing. If the image doesn't need it, why would you do it? Or are you from /p/, meaning that you follow "rules" every time, regardless of whether they benefit you or not?
Took a bunch of photos recently, looking to get some feedback.
Tell me what to work on, things to adjust, etc.
I'm a pretty shit editor, so most of these are unedited or just have minor adjustments.
Most of these were either shot on a roll of ektar 100 or BW400cn.
