How do i make my photos look like this?
crank your iso up and lower the contrast

What are your focal length combos, /p/? If you were to pick 2 or 3 prime lenses, what focal lengths got you covered?
Are you a 35/50 kind of guy? I feel like most people fall in that category.
I'm asking because I'm pretty curious about the sort of gaps in angles of view people are comfortable with.
So if you are a 35/50 person, would you be more likely to reach for a 28mm instead of a 20mm, for example.
I have aps-c equivalents of 50mm and 28mm now. I shoot with the 28mm 90% of the time and I'm selling the 50mm, it's too tele for me most of the time. I think 35mm and 24mm or 21mm will be my future duo, then maybe later I'll add a 50mm again for portrait stuff.
This is an interesting if often recurring (on /p/) topic, but you forgot to add the magic words "or 35mm equivalents" and have thus doomed the thread to arguments about crop factor, different image formats/sizes etc. I'll go with 20 and 50 for most situations.
50mm and 35mm. I prefer the latter, though.

What is /p/'s beef with Jared Polin? I like the guy, I think he's quirky and he knows a fair bit about photography. I also really like his real world reviews.

I liked his older content, but in general it's good. It's just he shoves advertisements down your throat, but that can easily skipped past. He takes good looking photos.
The main thing I like the most about him is his 5-minute portrait segments that showed behind the scenes of a photoshoot without being boring like that other YouTuber TheNikonGuy I believe his name is. It helped me with my portrait work.
He is trying to make money in his field. I would gladly take him shilling his products at me in a FREE VIDEO that he didn't have to make if it means I glean one little tidbit of knowledge from him for free. If you can handle his weirdness, which he call his branding, and maybe you're newer than by all means watch away.
I am hugely thankful for all the youtubers making content. Skip the shit that's trash. Watch lots and lots of shit. After a while you can learn to differentiate what is and is not trash.
Polin seems to have the business aspect and...

I like his videos but everytime he says "Fro knows photos" I get really annoyed.
So I got harassed on the street for shooting photos for the first time yesterday. I wasn't actually shooting street. More the kind of architecture stuff that you might find in Ming Thein's older stuff.
Guy called after me clearly drunk with a tallboy asking if I wanted it. Said no out of reaction. Then he threw it at me and said something like go take pretty pictures faggot or something. I walked away more insults followed etc. I'm sure worse has happened in LA and I sort of feel like a faggot for walking away and not taking a more chuck jines approach...

I don't know if I've ever heard a first person story that makes the teller out to be quite such a bitch before.
>>2861911
every woman has AT LEAST one story like this per day. so
I dunno. some general thoughts
>carry a knife or sth for protection
>learn to talk yrself out of shit
>dont carry too much of value with you if you're scared of getting mugged (maybe some cheapo film cam)
>ignore shit talkers, unless theyre getting real close-up
also on another note it seems like you just got screamed at by some drunk hobo and now act like you got raped or some shit. ignore it and stop acting like a bitch about it

Hi guys, not sure if this deserves its own thread but, I'm wondering how to get the sort of colour quality you see in film like this: https://youtu.be/lZmQCIbcm6w
I've seen similar results from polaroid cameras, but I was wondering if there was a way to achieve this sort of look without filters.
pic not related
>>2878495
>without filters
I'm not sure what types of filters you're talking about. If you're talking about physical filters on the front of the lens, then they have nothing to do with this. If you want to copy this cheesy as hell cheap 80's film look, then there are countless digital post production filters out there to help you achieve that goal.
>polaroid
I think you just want a cheap, fake vintage film look. Get some VSCO filters and go to town.

Post-process blurring is fairly sloppy and jarring, it's apparent it's been edited in and doesn't look natural.
Can you post the pic without the blur?

Relying on software to organise is a trap.
You should organise by folder structure, and only let the software manage more superficial things like tags.
Let's have a thread about shots you made whilst exploring abandoned terrain or buildings. This thread is not specifically for rating each other but rather just sharing pictures and perhaps stories.
These pictures are that of a area of which the building were going to be demolished, due to property rights and such. Thought it was a shame so I bought my camera with me and made a few shots.

/p/ whats the best compromise for someone who wanta to pursue videography as well as photography? Ive been looking at the GH4 with a metabones speedbooster for my canon glass. Any recommendations?
Sony: a7 (a7ii if you can afford it) and some vintage glass.
Panasonic: GH4, metabones, some sigma and canon lenses
Canon: 70D/80d for crop or 6D for full frame, Magic Lantern one good lens for photography and an adapter with some vintage glass for videography
Nikon: just don't
For any of these rigs throw in a Manfrotto action tripod or Benro fluid head monopod (depending on personal need) and a Rode videomic. Also check out the Edelkrone pocket rig, as well as their slider, if you start leaning more towards video, and a yongnuo IV flash kit or baja b4 set...

>6D for videography
I wouldn't. 5d mkIII is clear winner for video, 6D is only reliable for stills
Watch the vomit-inducing patterns when a 6d comes across lines. It lacks several other features, like a 2nd memory card, but you can potentially get around that with filming extra takes and swapping cards, there's no way to get around the video quality issues.

>Nikon: just don't
What do? I have a bunch of Nikkor glass 50mm 1.4 AI, 135mm AI f3.5 and Olympus Zuiko's for an OM (50mm 1.8, 28mm)
Should I sold these vintage glass and get Canon body and lens? Since I want to get into photography and videography.
The MFT is tempting however, I discovered it's a meme and sucks for photography.
