Something I've noticed while watching post-processing tutorials for Lightroom is that the person will say to turn the highlights all the way down, and shadows all the way up. And then they will say to set the white point, and black point (by holding down the alt key and dragging).

I used to think this ended up looking bad, but now I'm trying it out again and it actually makes photos come out pretty good after also editing the exposure and contrast.

I also found this while googling:

"The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Book by Martin Evening has...

>So is it officially intended that you edit in this order (bring down highlights->lift shadows->white point->black point), at least for most photos?
No, they mean more like; you adjust the exposure, then the curves, then the colors, then any split toning you may want, then sharpening, etc. Each "group" goes in order, but not necessarily each slider.

For instance, in the HSL panel, you don't have to adjust red, THEN orange, THEN yellow, etc.

Welllll it says "tone adjustment controls" so I think it is specifically referencing highlights, shadows, whites, and blacks, because those are labeled "Tone" in Lightroom

I recently started to shoot dead animals (I live near a place were animals are found killed by predators and such). Post your best death pictures! I want to get an idea of how to shoot this type of things. Social websites are preferred so that more images can be seen. Pic related (first pic I took of a dead bird)

I just want to do some death photography of my own but the only animals around here are either stubbornly alive or eating whatever corpses present themselves.

Why are there horizontal shields in the adapter barrel of that camera?

I'm not into video; I don't understand.
>>
>>2821205

The sensor is rectangular and not circular, I can only assume it's for an extra layer of matting to stop flaring.
>>
>>2821217

So why aren't there vertical shields as well?

Why do people put up with Sony's LOSSY compressed RAW files?

HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT TO HAVE AN OPTION TO TOGGLE COMPRESSION OF RAW FILES ON AND OFF?

I have a fast 128GB card, I don't care about file size. Why is Sony always so fucking cancerous?

If you're in some shithole in the Middle East or something and you have to transmit your shit to a photo desk with a janky satellite antenna thing (but why would you be using a Sony then?), you might be able to send compressed raw files instead of jpegs, depending on how much space is saved with the compression. Can't think of other reasons to enable raw compression other than in that specific scenario.

It's great. I use it all the time.
>>

Why?
>>
>>2835058
Because it's fantastic for increasing the overall range of the image, which helps it to look more filmish and natural to what you see in the real world. It also helps when I want to keep highlights in check, or hell, even when I accidentally bump from auto ISO into ISO 200 and shoot a bunch four stops under exposed.
