pretty new to photography still. Recently got into it on the begging of my Cosplaying GF

Oh, there are a lot of ways.
The easy options are *very big* strip lights and octaboxes together with radio triggered strobes. Godox has them fairly inexpensively, but they're going to be at their limits for groups - group shots and the ability to place lights in more distance is why you might get a huge Bowens octagon. That said, you probably don't want to spend so much right now, so... Godox or DiY it is?
You could also use YN strobes as the actual lights.
That said, you could also pick a smaller plain white room and bounce the light off the walls or such.
> how do you do evening outdoor photography with well lit subjects?
Honestly, I'd start with a single portable off-camera strobe, a radio trigger, and a human-sized reflector board on the other side so the contrast doesn't get too extreme.
Obviously having a strip light or big octabox is more fancy, but they're annoying to use outdoors due to wind and so on.
So my local photo shop is selling a used nikon sb-25 for about $40. I've been thinking about getting an external flash for a while and might go ahead and spring for it. I know it won't have TTL metering but can still do manual.
Is this a bad idea? Should I just save up for a more modern model or will it be okay?
>collegepracticefag
No one can explain me how to use that external flash, everyone is asking for perfect pics.
>shooting some political bullshit, indoors.
>get faces red or underexposed
>change settings on flash
>switch angles
>FFS HOW DO GET THIS SHIT RIGHT ?
So, my setup is canon 400D+tamron 18-200mm+canon flash(cant remeber wich model is it, cuz it aint mine). As a photographer,...

So i recently started taking some pictures, some are better than others, some are utter shit but let's get to the point.
Is making an instagram account a good thing for a beginner photographer?
How do you go on about promoting it and stuff like that
Pic related, took it yesterday

Well, I'm glad we've got the utter shit out the way.
On Instagram, you need to focus on your tagging mainly. That's the trick to it. I use Instagram for my lower tier photos, stuff that is just nice. I also keep a 500px account for my best work, aggressively trimmed to keep a particular style going.

do you think that pic is utter shit, or what?
Also thanks m8

Yeah, it's okay though. As a beginner most of your stuff will be utter shit

That's a nice moment, and it's great that the woman's hand (which really makes the shot) is silhouetted against a darker gray. Maybe tighten up the crop to a traditional 3:2 or even a 4:5 ratio... I think there's too much of nothing going on in the left 2/3s of the frame.

I stopped using Flickr years ago when they decided to fuck with my password after forcing me to merge with yahoo.
I went through like 5 different passwords with them before I decided they didnt offer me anything i needed so I said fuck it and left.

for a while ipernity was the one everyone was moving to
Local selling a canon powershot sx40hs for $300 CDN OBO. I've never owned a camera, aside from phone cameras, but I thought it would be fun.
Do you think it's worth it? Condition is "new" and comes with a 32gb card.
What should I look for, if I do decide to take a look? Should I bargain lower, is it worth my money/time? It's not a huge investment personally, but I think a camera would be nice to have, would be mostly taking nature shots.
Any input is appreciated, thanks for your time.

I take a lot of pictures for my accounts on social media and i have gained a bit of a following -so much so that i want to upgrade from taking pictures with my Iphone 6 camera and move up to the big guns.
The only problem is that I am as poor as an Ethiopian with a mortgage so i pose this question...
If the Iphone 6 Camera is a 1 in the spectrum and a £600 ($800) digital DLSR is a 10 - What kind of product would be a 3 or 4 in the spectrum and make my pictures look better than what i have previously produced?
(picture not related but its a nice giggle on me)
Are you just looking for manual control or do you also want interchangeable lens capability? If you want manual control there are probably apps that let you control shutter speed, apreture etc. on iPhone.

Hi /p/,
There is this competition organized by a lab in my town that I want to participate.
I've never done a photo contest in my life, but I think it can force me to give the better of myself and really focus on my shot, subject and composition.
The title of the contest is Back to the Future and I will have 48h to

I was thinking about a picture where the foreground is...
