Well friend, you're using up way more space than is necessary on your SD or CF card. There's no discernible difference between medium JPEGs and large JPEGs or RAW files.
what is "contemporary photography"?
ive seen that distinction a lot lately. yo never see a definition, but if you see the pictures, you see more or less a common pattern. its not that they are contemporary because they are active in a certain time frame, but because of their themes and overall look.
pic related looks contemporary. but is it?
alec soth is like the epitome of contemporary, but is he?
how do you draw the line, where do you separate the classics (?) of the contemporary?
>>2839034
what the fuck are you talking about
>>2839034
I'd assume they use the term "contemporary" to mean "now", because in the art world "modern" and "modernism" already have specific meanings and relate to periods other than right now, i.e. contemporary.
hey /p/ i'm not a casual here but I do want to get into photography. I need a camera though, an iphone can only do so much, the battery life is she, and they break easy while backpacking.
I need a good camera for backpacking, I just need a camera that is cheap, takes good pictures and would be lightweight for backpacking.
I'm not a photographer, i'm an outdoorsman, so please hold back the bantz.
Seeing that you didn't give us a price range, I'm going to say the Canon 1Dx Mark II is best for you. :^)

How I can learn to create comfy photos? I tried myself to make some but the right feel isn't there i think

Directional glowy warm light. Scene containing cozy inviting environment. Process for warmth and softness (Not crazy sharp, raised black levels, emphasis on warmer colors)
To create comfy you first have to be comfy with yourself, seito.

How does one efficiently emphasize warm colours? increase their saturation/lowering cold saturation? Change up the hue for the warmer and colder colours?
Do different lenses have different f-stops for peak performance?
I know that f/8 to f/11 usually gives the best results.. But I want to know EXACTLY what f-stop each of my lens gives peak performance at.
Like my 14-24mm what f-stop would give me the absolute best results from this lens? Shooting on FF, is there any way to find this out without pixel peeping?
And I know that sounds stupid that I want to find the peak performance but don't want to pixel peep but I just don't want to spend the time trying to find out.
No, all lenses are exactly the same.
If sounds stupid because it is stupid. You're stupid.
you should just test your own lens

Curious, anyone know where I can get more of these kind of wallpapers? These being things like, vintage scenery I guess?
go make them
What makes that photo vintage?
>>2838580
Modern road markings with that reflecting things melded into asphalt, of course.
But something tells me he talking about hipster film look(that is good in this case).
One can achieve this by using VSCO powers, or lurking around in depth of hipsters VSCO related communities.
I took this. How do I into composition? Any books that have good techniques? Was thinking of only using a smartphone for awhile so I focus on composition alone.

Try doing a long exposure later in the day so you get better lighting. I like this spot though, update me if you take my advice

I want to know this too
Composition is ridiculously overemphasized and a lot of beginners treat it like some magic formula that will make their pictures better.
Find interesting subjects or scenes. That should be your main emphasis. Don't put them in the center unless it looks better in the center. Strong diagonals are cool, wide angles help with that. Use layers to create interest (foreground, middle ground, background). Compose with your feet and not your lens or arms. Learn how perspective works and how to see it.
Above all, don't treat composition like the most important...

Hi /p/
Is there anyone who could zoom/edit this photo to see what the license plate numbers are? Simply zooming on it is not enough to clearly see the numbers but maybe someone who's good at editing could make them out?
This is very important for me.
UR GETTING KEKED, M8.
>>2838126
Contact CSI Miami. They have the ability to zoom and enhance.
>>2838126
Using state-of-the-art enhancement software I can clearly see that the plate reads: OPISAFAG. It must be one of those personalized plates.
How long till Canikon go mirrorless seriously and make everyone who sold their Canikon gear to buy inferior products feel like a bunch of assholes?
>>2837975
why dont you want a mirror?
>>2837975
But Canikon has mirrorless cameras.
>>2837975
How long till any Canon ILC finally has at least dynamic range of recent cameras with 1" sensor?
How long till Nikanon start using Dual IS in their objectives and cameras?
How long till Nikon stops mangling RAW files to make them unacceptable for astrographers?
How long till Canon stops drifting EF specs so that older objectives do not stop working with newer cameras?
How long till Nikanon use/make at least one APS-C or larger sensor with full readout?
How long till Nikon finally has lightweight pancake objective with autofocus?
How long till Nikon finally starts making oficially weather sealed objectives?
Bring your crap to gear thread fag.
Hey have any of you ever built a large format camera? I've built a monorail 4x5 camera, and I can't see anything in the back of the camera, even when the shutter is held open. Maybe it's because I bought a really cheap ground glass? Anyone have any experience with large format cameras?
>>2837769

Have anyone of yall ever shot a funeral? I was asked by the family of a close friend to shoot the photos, i honestly didnt want to.. i was close to him and idk, but yea, you thoughts experiences?
>>2837647
Pictures of grieving people is never a good idea seems to me
>>2837665
I thought the same, I mean the are amazing photos, RAW emotion... but i just feltl like when i did it, i was invading their personal space, you know? and people maybe looking at me and thinking, "why the fuck is he taking photos right now!?, but i know in the end, years from now, they will be glad they told me to take those photos.. idk... like i said its my first ever funeral PERIOD, not just shooting, but being present at a funeral period... it was hard
Just say NOPE!
I think this is disrespectfully to deceased person, and to grieving people as well.
Does nikon plan to replace the 14-24mm at any point? It seems like its about damn time they brought out a new superior superwide.
Or should I just give in and buy the Tamron 15-30mm 2.8? It seems to have very solid reviews, and dat VC.
You'll see a release like a 14-24 once every 10-15 years. It's a god-tier lens and one of the best on the market, so why would you want a replacement?
>>2837586
>You'll see a release like a 14-24 once every 10-15 years.

>Well it came out nine years ago so... soon then?
Who knows? Probably not?
when will you come to terms with the fact that you are not miroslav tichy?
> MIROSLAV TICHY HAS BECOME FAMOUS in spite of his need for privacy. Born in 1926 in what is now the Czech Republic, Tichy studied painting at the Academy of Art in Prague until the Communist takeover in April 1945. Arrested for being “odd,” therefor subversive, Tichy spent many years in jails and prisons, until he was released in the 1970s. Upon his release, he wandered his small town in rags, pursuing his occupation as an artist photographing the female form in the streets. He made his cameras from tin cans, childrens spectacle lens and other junk he found on the street. He would return home each day to make prints on equally primitive equipment, making only one print from the negative he selected. He stole intimate glimpses of his subjects through windows and the fences of swimming pools as well as in the streets, sometimes finding himself in trouble with the police.
