Redpill me on 50mm lenses.
They're the cheapest lenses in a manufacturer's lineup, fast and can be very sharp when you stop them down. They also reproduce a somewhat natural horizontal field of view.

if you ever need anything else you're a meme yourself
They're some of the cheaper lenses you can get and are more or less what your eye sees. Seriously, you can walk around with the other eye open and just see the frame lines.
>bought a tamron 70-200 vc usd for my 5d2
>great lens
>now I am switching to Nikon (due to better lenses, tougher cameras)
my 70-200 tamron which I've always kept in a ziplock bag with silica gels in a drybox has fucking like 6 pieces of dust inside
>a few right god damn behind the front element, a couple specs behind the rear element
How in the fuck does this happen to an internally focusing lens with no push-pull zoom which I have...

> has fucking like 6 pieces of dust inside
Oh no!
Get a fucking clue, internal focusing lenses still have components that cause vacuums within the lens, that sucks air in and dust with it. Dust doesn't make a blind bit of difference and only serves to infuriate autists
http://kurtmunger.com/dirty_lens_articleid35.html
There are several articles on this, my 80-200 2.8 L has plenty of dust particles inside it and makes no difference to IQ.
>now I am switching to Nikon (due to better lenses, tougher cameras)
>tougher cameras than canon
Well, /p/, this is it.
We've finally has something that surpasses the 19th century optics technology that we've been using for over a century.
http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-36438686
First prototypes are small (about the size of a microscope lens) but will eventually come in all sizes.
This technology will
>focus sharper
>be manufactured cheaper
>completely eliminate aberrations
it will look like shit.
>>2854796
Microscope objective vs equivalent lens
>focus sharper
>completely eliminate aberrations
nice priorities, gearfags.
Polishing some turds as I go along on a day to day basis seeing as the last thread I started fell off the board.

I have to take, print and post, on an exposition at my college, an photo which represents my city. This is the municipal lake, but i don't know which one to print, and i have to do it today!
Maybe you experts can help me with that?
Photoshopping the picture would help aswell ;)
Here's an imgur with all of them: http://imgur.com/a/QYePu

ITT: We post the sweet spot of various lenses which produce the sharpest images.
Example
Lens" Canon 18-55 IS STM
Sweet spot: 35mm to 55mm at f/5.6 to f/8.0
Lens: EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM
Sweet spot: 135mm at f/8
Isn't the sweet spot of these kit lenses the bin? That's where I'd like to put my 18-55
Fujifilm
Every lens at every focal length at every aperture
This thread is stupid
I'm mid-road trip and have a chance to go through some photos. Any C&C is greatly appreciated, especially composition or pp related. Most of these are just snaps, anyway.

Hello /p/, it has been a long time.
Alright douchebags what are your thoughts on this man's photography. If you have to ask who he is you have no business here. so fuck off
He had balls and his photos are crude and magnetic. My favourite is the one with the kids sleeping in that tiny spot inside a NY building.
>>2856941
fuck yes. my favorite is the one with the midget on new years wearing a hat that reads 1943
he did the flash thing right.
sup /p/,
I'm coming to you, camera experts, because I am looking for a way of getting the most out of a lumix dc vario for timelapse. the software seems to cap the amount of pictures taken in a timelapse to 1000 while I need to go on for much longer.
The reason I stick to this camera is because we are setting a huge amount of those underwater in order to aquire fish abundance data (and we already have 20 of them). I have used CHDK on a canon camera before to make timelapse possible for thousands of photos, but I couldn't put my fingers on any similar tools for...

Not a lot of underwater/waterproof stuff on this board. There is of course a "famous" video of a guy who covers his Pentax DSLRs in sand, lens and all, and then simply washes them off with a hose. Worth considering, though it's obviously more investment than a simple tough-cam usually is.
Yeah dropping a dozen dslrs into the water would imply a much bigger investment which we just can't afford, sadly
>>2854886 Battery will run out long before your sequence reaches 1000 pictures. AFAIK.
So I shot my first "concert" a few weeks ago and all I had on me was my film camera. All these are with a Nikon FE, Kodak Ektar, and a 135/3.5 and 35/2.8, manual focus. Critiques would be appreciated as this is my first time shooting non-candid portraiture/concert.

Let's imagine I was doing video work and managed to fuck up the focus. How fixable is soft focus? Anyone ever have good results? I need some good news.
reshoot
>>2856842
Let's imagine it's not reshootable.
I shot a wedding and slightly backfocused the whole ceremony with my B cam, unfortunately the B cam was the continuous shot of the whole ceremony.
I had used focus peaking to check focus and it was highlighting the couple for sharp focus, this is when I found out focus peaking was not 100% accurate.
I slightly sharpened the footage, this footage was for DVD only, by the time it was sharpened and then put on DVD for TV play it was unnoticable.
Depends how bad you fucked up though..
Im going out tonight in hopes of catching the MW center around 10pm or so. If you have any MW center photos, tips, tricks, or feddback, please do share!!!
This one's from a few summers ago. This time around, I am trying the get sahuaros in there as the subject.

How did you light up this cacti?
>>2855389
You can use any type of direct light source in a long exposure to brighten up the foreground. Just flash a flashlight on whatever you want illuminated for a second or two while the shutters open.
