If you have questions about a new camera, what lenses to buy and anything related to gear or wondering about getting into photography, post it in this thread.
Do not attempt to make a new thread for your new Rabal, broken glass and being new. You have been warned!
I repeat, ANYTHING GEAR RELATED goes in here!
And don't forget, be polite!

Anyone here used the Canon 85mm f/1.8?
>>2706767
Jah. Is good lens. Makes very bokeh.
>>2706747
>Ps.: Asked in prev-prev thread what lens is that, it is a DA* 200mm
actually that's a DA* 300/4. You can tell because it has a tripod foot, which the 200/2.8 doesn't have

It doesn't look very good, though.

You actually have Pentax equipment in your store? I have to go over an hour away to find the closest place I can play with Pentax. How does it sell?
>>2705129
It sells very, very poorly. But we love pentax and we have a huge Pentax/Ricoh shelf that no one ever gives a shit about. I just have to walk past the 645Z all day and everyone and a while a gear enthusiast wants to touch it and talk about it, but never actually buy it.

I bought a Yashicamat on the Internet a few Weeks ago.
When it arrived and i opened it i saw that there was still a roll of Film in there.
So i rolled up the film while the Camera was closed and had the roll sitting on my shelf the past weeks.
I was to cheap to let it be developed for 7 Bucks, but still not wanted to throw it away (who knows, might be nudes)
Today i remebered hearing about Color Film Developed in B&W Chemicals as Monochrome negatives.
i Had nothing better to do so i gave it a try.
Will post the 11 Pictures that i got in this Thread.
Sadly there are no nudes, only Pictures from what seems to be a Christmas family party.

Hey guys,
I'm new to photography and picked up a Sony A6000 with the standard kitlens to start learning compositions as I wish to become a cameraman.
Any tips on what to learn?
Pic related, shot this yesterday, yes I'm aware it's dark. I loved the creepy look of it.
Learn to use iso, aperture and shutter speed properly so your photos don't come out really underexposed. This would be a decent photo if half of it wasn't black.

Don't name your photos. It's pretentious and unnecessary.
your composition is very left-heavy, and while the color in the leaves is pretty nice, there's really no reason to look at this image
Thx for you comment !
I don't know why i name my photos .. I took this habit from the beginning, bad habit?
I was trying to take the leaves colors, cause the brightness was very interesting

I got 3 cops called on me last night for taking photos about 10 minutes away from my house on a main road yesterday. Said they got a call about someone acting "suspicious" AKA me walking around, taking photos at a few different spots. They searched me and ran my name for warrants.I had the Canon nifty 50 on my camera too. I don't even know what would've happened if it was a telephoto.
Hey, /p/
I seek some suggestions.
I like to keep my bodies cosmetically clean, but I've found that my straps always scratch up the body at the site where the strap connects to the camera.
Any of you guys have a suggestion for a strap that won't damage the camera?
Cheers.
>>2705650
due to the friction on the loops, I'd say you can't avoid this without not using a strap
>>2705653
Oh I meant the black area. Not the metal loops sorry.
I have never heard anything good about this product, never anything bad - I just saw mentioned in a magazine and thought of this thread

Hey folks, no photos to show yet, picture unrelated.
Long story short.
Haven't photographed anything with a real camera in years.
Dug out old Nikon D90.
Bought AF 50mm 1.8 D.
Need advice.
I bought a lens and dug it out because I want to shoot small landscapes, like a 20cm square area where dunes meets moonscape rocks, air pockets in sand etc.
>>2707375
You need advice doing what exactly?
>>2707385
maybe a pointer in a good direction for a crash course in the basics, whether theres a video or guide that /p/ sends newbies to so they dont ask stupid questions
Go read books, visit galleries, get lessons.
Imagine turning up on /mu/ saying "I just dug out a guitar from the attic, how do I music?"
You need to leave this place and take a minimum of 10'000 photos, use this time to become fluent with your camera and editing and decide on what things you enjoy shooting.
There is no definitive starting guide, it's a long and dedicated path. Unless you just want to click a button and apply a colour preset - calling this photography is akin to pressing the demo button on a casio keyboard and claiming you made music.
