Hey anon, why is your camera covered in black tape?
w-what do you mean?
>>2715036
As a street photographer, that's how Henri Cartier Bresson did it with his Leica back then. That way you are less suspicious and can get closer to your subject, like Bresson said "if your pictures aren't good you are too far away"

so I mentioned this camera in the last thread, a Pentax P3n with lens that I could get for $20
I went ahead with it & the thing's in nice condition, even came with the manual and has an Energizer battery in it
I'm gonna buy a lens cap, UV filter, & a strap, maybe some black & white film. is there anything else I should get? is it true you need a yellow filter for b&w?
Fotasy 35mm f1.7. Any experiences? $30 is laughably cheap and I'm not expecting much desu
>>2713078
Damn that looks nice. Remove the P3 and it would be minimalist as fuck

The highest percentage of the price tag on a phone is towards the camera, especially iPhones, when people freak out that a phone takes a somewhat decent quality picture they're surprised. I don't get it.

So in national news the killing of Laquan McDonald has been in the headlines for weeks. I realized I have some really good photos (6 shots) I took of the officer who killed him, Jason Van Dyke, beating peaceful protesters with his fists and a billy club in Chicago during NATO '12 protests.
The photos are NEF, well shot. I'm trying to sell them to press. A major Chicago newspaper has offered me $125 for rights for 10 days, $125 more if they publish.
Considering these are hot photos of national news, what is fair?
ask /pol/
They won't offer you what they can actually afford. If you are the only one with these images you should bargain for much more
>>2715713
>The photos are NEF
Damn I'm sorry OP. Your shots are worthless for journalistic work now.
In the film era, if you couldn't see your photo after you took them. You only knew the result much later. So if you did mistakes you would fail. You had to know what you were doing.
Now, anyone can take photos, just take one, preview, if it is shit do it again. Sooner or later you will have the outcome you desire.
Also cameras are becoming smarter, Sony A7 can detect faces, I don't doubt sony will release someday a camera that analyses composition and will tell you where you should aim.
Also photography isn't art. Never was to begin with.

Ok.
People at weddings/parties still want to party/wed and socialise, not follow everyone being sober and doing your supposed amateur re-try till it looks good camera ritual. So they'll still pay someone to do it.
Companies needing product photos won't risk/have their employees stop their designated tasks/jobs to waste time taking pictures of their products - it'll still be faster, cheaper and overall convenient to hire a professional.
Amateur photography has always been the domain...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
No, like everything you need practice. Also what you are talking about honestly depends on what you are setting out to do with a camera.
Some people just like trying to take the coolest pictures possible. The people who actually have professional jobs have to abide by shit that might get in the way of their creativity.

Different types of light have different color temperatures. The histogram is just a way to visualize the black point and white point of different color channels. You can adjust those levels to compensate for different color temperatures.
In Lightroom click with the WB eyedropper on a neutral grey. That's pretty much all you need.
>>2715431
not op but I'm on a similar boat. Trying to git gudder, and while I know how more or less to do a decent post, I want to know what diagrams I should look at and how to read them, if I ever need to. Hell even learning how to read diagrams of lens/camera performance would be highly appreciated just so I know what they entail . I'll try to find one I saw yesterday and post it, and hopefully someone can help me understand it
Hey /p/, I'm buying myself a Nikon D3300 for Christmas with the standard kit lens, any advice/tips? Pretty new to photography and have been saving up for a while to start off.
Buy a 50mm f/1.8
A lense >200m can be cool too.
>>2714937
Just buy the camera w/o kit lens.
Buy 35mm f/1.8 instead.
thanks :) you got a link?
So I'm looking for a fish eye lens, saw this one very cheap. It also comes with a microphone. Was wondering if any of you have this lens? Opinions on him? Also any other suggestions on fisheye lenses? Also I'll dump some photos here.
Further note, I own a Nikon D3200.
Pic related it's the lens.

Paul C. Buff. The least you can spend to still get good quality studio kit.
You can try to make your way with flash guns, like Yongnuos, but it's really not the same.
