What does /p/ scan their negatives with? I'm planning to shoot a roll of 35mm film and was wondering if any of you guys have had any luck scanning your negatives through an ordinary printer/scanner device (not meant specifically for photographs). I've also heard of using a DSLR to capture negatives. I'm on a budget so I'm looking for a cheap alternative. Thanks.

Pic related is my printer/scanner. I'm also going to community college so that also might be an option, although I haven't took a photography class or know anyone in that department. Walgreens/CVS scans photos, the results aren't very good though from what I've researched.
This if I'm making a large print and/or for paid work.

and this the other 99% of the time.
Hey /p/, I bought a used camera yesterday and took a couple of pictures today. When I come home to edit them, I realize that the pictures are 16 mbs in size, and they come in a CR2 format? Is there any way I can change the size of the pictures and change the format, if not, is it something that has to do with the camera itself?
help?????

It will make one this year.
Someone needs to elect themselves as leader, collect submissions, coordinate a group of curators, and assemble that shitfight into something that can be printed and bound and bought by the overly keen, or downloaded as a pdf by everyone else.
This is the thread where the leader will be chosen.
This is the thread where we will determine the categories and criteria for selection.
I humbly submit that this years...

I am the Führer. I will also be a curator of this fucking book. Don't have the nerves to wait for Iggy put his shit together this time. Color & B/W. Every anon can submit three images.
Anyone against what I just wrote? No? Good. The entire thing (rules etc) will be posted tomorrow.
Who wants to be a curator?
>>2723473
No curation this year. It's antithetical to /p/ and the democratic nature of 4chins.

Does anyone else have trouble pushing themselves to go out in the world to take photos? I'm such a solitary homebody that sometimes it's difficult to get out and engage.

You've posted other stuff from this work site, right?
Should I feel guilty about wanting to shoot a young model friend of mine wearing sexy outfits such as leather corsets and metal-studded chokers? What about sexy adult Halloween costumes? Or Victoria Secret lingerie? At what age should it be not be considered unethical or just too creepy for each of those items? Seriously.
Inb4: why would I want to wear such things while taking photos. Yeah, and one morning Groucho Marx shot an elephant in his pajamas (how he got in his pajamas is a mystery).

Only the reference to Groucho. Seriously wondering if /p/ would shoot or not, given the opportunity. I already have some wonderfully inappropriate clothing. Just don't know if I would be able to edit the photos afterwards without feeling terribly ... guilty.
>>2715482
No need for guilt because there's 0 chance for anything remotely sexual happening. Only a hyper autistic permavirgin would post as awkwardly and as humorlessly as this.
Hello /p/. I've had a Sony DSLR from the alpha series for a few years, and have enjoyed it, though I would like to take a step up. I've been looking into and considering taking on the Pentax line, and would like some recommendations, reviews, and comments you guys may have with regards to Pentax.
My intended first model might be the K3-II. Please let me know,
Thanks!

I just noticed the coincidence of the exif data for this photo provided. It's not mine, but I do like it a lot.
My Sony is on the lower end of the line.
>>2725019
For what.
What are the limitations of your current camera that are making you want to step "up" to a Pentax?
>>2725024
First of all, I want to change to a different product line (Pentax looks good), and secondly mine is lower end so I want increased quality.
I see absolutely no reason to keep going higher, as something like the K3-II is totally fine.
I'm assuming as a whole, you guys would know much more about them, as a product, a line, and a company, than I would.
Anyone here do back button focusing? I just started trying it out and I'm not did if I like it yet.

Should I get a 35mm DX 1.8G prime lens or stick with the kit lens for my first camera (Nikon D3300) ?
>>2718624
gear thread you cunt
Listen to me bro. I have a d3100 and i have bought recently the 35mm dx 1.8. I quit to use the 18-55mm. The quality and the sharpness of the 35mm lens is beautifull.
>>2718624
You should stick with the 18-55 for your first step in photography.
The 35mm should be useful later when you will know what you can and can't do with it.
So /p/ why haven't you bought your Leica Monochrom yet? Don't you know that color is vulgar?
>>2725149
you dont own one either. go away, poorfag.
>>2725149
if this shall be ironic then you obviously have no clue how sensors work and where the advantage of a non-beyer sensor is.
so go be "smart" somewhere else.

Because I prefer Tri-X in my M6.
I'm considering selling my dad's old Nikon "Nikkor" F, basically the chrome version of pic related, with the Nikkor Auto-s 50/1.4 and its case, all in good condition.
Apparently these are quite rare, only made for the German market.
Anyone got an idea what it might be worth? If it's only a bit more than a regular one I'll probably keep it, cause it's a fun camera. I could only find one sold on ebay but it had a "Nikkor" Photomic finder so I'm not sure the price it sold for is a good indication.

Pretty sure it's just a regular Nikon F.
Only with a different label to avoid the trade dispute raised by Carl Zeiss (Nikon is too similar to Ikon)
I doubt people will pay extra for the different name, but with hipsters you never know.

what does she think she is doing. that tripod isnt even on all of its legs
whats the purpose of a tripod if it isnt stable on the ground
Well fuck me /p/, my sister just asked me to photograph her wedding tomorrow.
Now before you tell me to not do it, hear me out. Tomorrow is what we call the "civil" marriage at the courthouse, and it's supposed to be small and quick. Only family and close friends, sign the papers before a judge, exchange some rings, read some stuff. No bridal gown or tuxes, but formal wear nonetheless. Should be done in 45 minutes or so. The big event will be the "religious wedding" at a church with a priest, and that's when the tuxes and gowns and lots of...

Always shoot from the brides side.
Include parents, ring stuff, family and friends.
Make a group shot at the end.
I'd bring the 16-55/2.8 with one body and the 56/1.2 with the other.
I have no idea what I'm talking about though.
>>2724879
I don't know if they'll let you use a flash inside the courtroom for photos so it'd be best to go with >>2724928 and bring fast glass. But yes, bring the Yongnuo just in case they do.
Move around as much as you can. Now, don't go up to the judges stand there and play with the damn gavel but maybe set specific boundries before the preceding and stick within them. However make sure you pre-frame the shots (if you can) so you have the best angles...

Do you not own a tripod?
I'd probably try to bring the smallest amount of gear possible. X-T1 and the 50 and 85mm primes would be your best bet, since you're going to be taking mostly candid portraits.
>A thread for sharing great experiences you've had because you are a photographer, that you would not have had otherwise.
Personally, I've been to more cities, and seen more sights along the way, than I EVER would have without the job. I'm grateful every day for the trips I get to take, and the things I would never have seen otherwise.
I traveled before I considered myself a photographer. Photography came first as a way to express the amazingness there.
But then again, it's not my job.
>>2724539
Doesn't have to be a job! Just thinks you did with a camera that you wouldn't have done without one! A side trip to take a photo, exploring down a dark alley you would have otherwise ignored, and happened to find a $20 bill! Just ways that photography has positively changed your life from what it would have been.
And share photos!
