An astrophotography thread
havent been on this board in years, but there was a post that stuck with me. It was from a regular poster i believe, maybe someone with a tripcode, who posted a link to their blogspot where they had travelled through a few Asian countries and documented their trip on film. I believe over the course of several months.
Anyone remember what I'm talking about? Pic unrelated
http://www.photosomnia.com
Maybe?

omg! amazing! I believe this is it, and if not it's pretty much the same aesthetic I remembered. Is this site yours?
I went around Europe snapping some photos; I have never really held a camera before then but I bought my first DSLR and decided I was going to learn how to use it. All my photos were taken completely with manual settings.
I'm also going to move to Buenos Aires in a couple of months and I want to get new lenses. My focus is going to be on wide-angle architecture photography and nightlife (like closeups & groups of people). Looking for a lens and body recommendation for these two types (& possibly a new body, I'm shooting w/ a Nikon D5300)

Wide angle architecture photography and nightlife you'd definitely benefit from a nicer lens but your body is going to be fine. Glass is more important than your body but honestly you dont really need a new lens as much as you need to just practice more as you could have done better with that setup

Interesting thing about photography is that I can capture these types of pictures. ALthough, what type of lens would I need in order to have a wider view of area that I want to photograph. I'm currently using nikon d7000

Unless you want to do a lot of wide shots, try shooting ~30% overlapping pictures, and panorama them with Hugin.
Alternatively, of course you can use a wider lens, or get a FF camera with a lens of the same or wider focal length (but you're rid of the 50% crop factor vs APS-C).
I have a crop sensor (1.5X)camera and a 18-55mm kit lense. If I want to record a video which would be 35mm equivalent on a full frame camera, what focal length should I use on this one.

Played around with long exposures and lasers. Needs improvement, but I think the results are neat, to say the least. Any thoughts /p/?

ND filter so you can be less stopped down to reduce the diffraction

Looks fun, OP.
Post more and tell me about your setup.
do you know how this shit works?
>>2727275
You pop 120 film inside, extend the lens/shutter barrel by sliding it out of the body, estimate exposure settings and adjust shutter speed/aperture on the round bit poking out with glass in it, cock the shutter lever, aim camera at subject, frame the shot, guesstimate/measure the focusing distance and press the only goddamn button on the entire thing.
Seriously, what do you need a manual for? You can see everything about the camera on it. Or have you never shot film at all, OP? What exactly are you asking about,...

How do you feel about the works of the Australian photographer Paul Freeman?
I think most of his pictures are great, but sometimes I feel his work is plain kitsch instead of being just nostalgic in stylish way (which is his style).

Why when I see myself in the mirror I 'm 7/10 , but in pictures I am -500/10 ?
People see me as I am the mirror or as I am in the pictures?
Watch the first few minutes of this video to explain it.

I'm not OP but I just got a Nikon D3200 for Christmas. Is it any good?
where / how should I get my 35mm film developed? Also pic of a tasty camera I stole from my dead granddad. came with a big box of shit i have no idea how to use because im very new to this.
>>2727778
Why can't you just scan it with a good film scanner an print it with a good scanner and photo paper? No need to go to the photo store if you invest in a few things. It is also good because you get control over every step of the process.
Spoiler: Not a film photographer, sorry if stupid suggestion. Just intuitively seems more practical.
>>2727795
Well my problem is I don't know enough to know if you're talking about setting up a whole dark room or if you're just talking about buying a straight-to-pc film scanner, if the second; no idea those existed. Very, very new.
>>2727796
I'm talking about buying a straight-to-pc film scanner, and if you need to print then also a good quality scanner and some photo paper. That's probably what most people are doing today.
If you choose this way, though, I do know that digital devices need to be color calibrated so each device displays color in the same way as the others. You can usually select the color profile in the software - scanner software, printer software, image editing software. They all need to be the same so you avoid getting...
