Whats a good 35mm film scanner /p/?
Dedicated 35mm Scanners like the Plustek 8100 or 8200i.
Do not get a flatbed as they tend to provide worse results.

Im going to do a photo project in the mountains. It will be shot on film. Now, what is the better option, color negative or slide? Ive seen lots of color neg documentary work, specially portra, it behaves pretty well and its management of contrast is outstanding. But is a look we all know by this time, its pretty predictable id say. Will slide film be a safe aproach? I love the slide look, but i dont know if itll be able to manage the changing light conditions.
pic unrelated.

Pic is gorgeous.
Slide would be my choice. Also, slide is not finicky as it sounds. If you know how to meter, it'll be alright. Of course, in a contrasty situation, either will something blow out (looks bad) or something will be cast in shadow (usually looks good); so follow the rules of thumb.
Colors, especially greens and blues, will have much much more depth on slide film.
>>2727966
I'd rather shoot provia over a color film, and let the shadows fall into black, any day of the week.
You might be surprised about how much details you can pull out of the shadows of slide film.
I'm new and dying to shoot in RAW format. The problem comes when I currently can't buy Lightroom or Photoshop.
Are they any decent free processing programs that will let me edit RAW files?
Rawtherapee works well

What's the issue?

wide angle with bokeh.
Theres no way in the early 19th century lensmakers made superfast wide angle lenses to achieve that result.
So, inspired a bit from Un Jour, La Nuit by Zachman, i went out with a Canon A630 to have some fun and try new things.
The idea was to get some kind of atmospheric vibrant colors.

Post shots that could have been been better with minor adjustments such as better framing, focusing, lens, or timing. And 1000 px on one edge, please.

Hey /p/
I'm considering getting into making and selling stock footage, video mostly.
I have no realistic perspective of my likelihood to succeed.
All of the stock footage sites I've checked out have no way of showing how many times a file has been purchased.
Even if I knew that, I still wouldn't have a clue if my footage would hit.
I'm considering investing in a better body for filming. (Currently sporting a Canon without video)
I was thinking of capturing mostly still shots of urban environments. (e.g. traffic, trains, subways,...

You mean because it does show the number of downloads? That's cool, thank you.
Anyone with any experience though?
>>2728324
No, I mean because that's an area where you could sell stock video you may not have thought about yet.
good .
I talked to a family and has recommended me this forum .
They can help give a more festive look to this photo.

Dumping my stuff as I process
Hey, these are some raw images I took today,
I've lurked for a while but I'd like some tips on how to make these better in post-processing.
All help appreciated immensely.
This is another photo of the same-ish angle
I liked this photo the most because of the colors, but I couldn't think of how I should make this one better, especially because I like the colors as they are already.
try again
Hello, just got my first own personal reflex, Pentax K-S1 with 18-55mm lens.
here's the first pictures I took on my flickr, please take a look and tell me how random and shitty they are .... and how can I get it better.

If I were to give you any advice, I would say that:
* You REALLY need to learn to simplify your compositions. Too many irrelevant objects in them.
* You also REALLY need to train up a steady hand. These look a lot softer than they should look when zoomed in. Even the slightest shaking on your part is undesirable. It's bad enough that the world itself keeps moving (remember adequate shutter speed too when you shoot moving objects like the cars driving in front of that church).
* Also, think of the "uses and gratifications" that your viewers...

Agreed, that's why you'll see that the more shootings are recent, the less objects are in the picture, but I still have to work on it.
