Some camera my mom bought for me from a flyer that came with the Sears credit card bill. Fixed focus 35mm, I don't rememeber the brand, but it had two lenses on a rotating disc in front. Twist it to set it in wide or telephoto modes.

First I bought was a Fuji Fotonex 200, I bought into the APS system. Selling points to me were sensible. Storage in the film cartridge seemed awesome since my parents never stored negatives properly. I remember playing around with them as a kid and probably put scratches & shit all over them. Mid-roll change too, though the 200 didn't...

Is there some quick rule of thumb for Reciprocity Failure for B&W film? I went out with my 4x5 at early evening and made some very thin negatives. (Photo is one of the less thin negatives.)
10 replies and 2 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
No.

It depends on the film. Some films aren't so bad but some like the cheaper Fomapan 4x5 films are a pain for long exposures. If you have an iPhone there's an app called reciprocity timer that you can put your exposure value into and dial in adjustments for things like reciprocity, filters, bellows extension, etc. Very handy. I'm trying to find a similar android app but can't find one.
>>
Chances are there's info about your specific film on the manufacturer's webside.
Here's a link to HP5 as an example.

I'm playing around with the cheap Shanghai 4x5 B&W film, and haven't been able to find any detailed technical information.

Want to eventually upgrade to maybe a 6D, don't have the $. However, I wouldn't feel bad about dropping a grand on a new camera if the money was made through my photography. What are some ways I can start making money as a photographer? I've had people ask me if I can take their picture for facebook or something, but never charged actual money for it.

>get better at photographer
>actually shoot for a purpose
>stop taking snapshits like this

You might be able to con a few self-indulgent teenagers into throwing you $30 for some portraits but you have a long way to go before you can be charging real money man.
>>
Weddings.

You're going to need to invest in some lenses first though.
>>

>but never charged actual money for it.
Charge money, and you might make money. If you say "This is free" most people aren't going to DEMAND to pay you $1000.

Take photos that people want taken. Someone selling their house? you can take the listing photos! Graduation? Prom? Senior pics? Family portraits? Weddings? Take nicely exposed photos of waterfalls and flowers and go to a local art show with matted prints. Etc.

Hey anons,
can you tell me what is better, this b/w or the following colored version of this photo.

Are there any things to make better in future, or maybe in postprocessing?

I'm just about to begin making photos regularly, more than bad looking snapshots. so newbe advisory is wanted.

I use a Kodak T MAX 400 on my Revueflex SD1, but it seems that the film is 'nerver ending'. What should I do ? Remove the film from the camera or wait and continue to take pictures untill it will probably end ? I've never met this case yet

Sorry, man.
Sounds like the film didn't catch on the takeup spool. That means it's still in the canister and you haven't started shooting it yet. The photos you think you took are wasted.
Open the camera in a darkroom and feel carefully to see if the film is stretched between the canister and the spool or if it's just a flap of it sticking out of the canister like with a fresh roll.
I'm afraid it'll be the latter.

I've got to do this for a university project and I'm not entirely sure how to go about it so I thought maybe some of you might be able to give advice, if you could I'd really appreciate it

I'm supposed to photo these other two students in a way which shows their relationship and personality, they have great chemistry but are total opposites, like one is kind of mischievous and the other is very strict on rules

I'm not sure how to get this across in a photo so any tips would be really helpful

Under £99?
You wont get one better than the camera on your smart phone for less than £200
>>
>>2762298
film is always an option if you want a cheap camera, but developing costs quite a bit
>>
>>2762298
under £99, probably only film cameras will make the cut. you can get going with b/w film for very cheap if you develop it yourself; but then, it's another technique to learn.

maybe you can get an digital canon 300d or 400d for that price, that is, an old dslr, but still very good image quality (compared to point-and-shoot cameras, smartphones etc).

Dont sweat it too much, they are all really nerve wracking the first time. Just make sure you get to know everyone a little before the business gets going, itll relax everyone, always remember that a laughing smile is 2000X better than a forced/posed smile

During my 3rd wedding, the ceremony was held 45 miles out of town int he middle of no where, and i got lost trying to read directions and was 2 hours late to the party. I arrived in my loud ass lemon car literally seconds away from the kissing of the bride, and i thought the big redneck groom was gonna kick my ass

long story shot, i got the most important picture, and 2 hours later, when everyone was drunk and partying, they all relaxed again and i could take the photos i wanted

pic related was from that wedding

Hey, so there is a construction sight a few feet from my house of a new 3+ story school. Looks about as a school can and I would love to sneak in a try my best to take some snapshits.

Does anyone have experience with "illegal" photography or trespassing generally? I'm sure they'd bust my ass if i was doing graffiti but I doubt a photo will get the cops called.
Obviously gotta be careful at an active construction sight too.

As long as you are not breaking anything to enter, there is nothing wrong.
I've been doing this shit for a while now, and really, the worst they could do is take you to the station to release you a little bit after because you technically haven't done anything wrong
Just go, maybe bring someone with you if you can (for safety reasons), and have fun

Btw, that's a pretty interesting picture you've got there, how did you manage the effect ?

Well there are signs saying there are video cameras and I can't remember for sure but there might be a no trespassing sign.

And for the picture its surprisingly simple. I used the side panel of my computer because its clear acrylic, but any glass or plastic works. Used an eyedropper to make perfect(ish) circles so that the light is reflect properly, lift it a bit off a bowl or plate of M&M's or you're favorite candy and boom.
I'm planning to do the same again but with heart shaped candies and place the drops in a heart shape. This pic is my digital version.

Oh hai /p/, I noticed that there are a lot of youtubers for photography that is geared towards beginners, mwacs and gwacs, or gearfags like froknows, Imogen, snapchick or digitalrev.
Is there anything out there that discusses at I higher level than entry?
