Just got a TTL flash. My first ever flash.
How do I into flash photography?
Can anyone recommend a good website that explains it? How did you learn? Any good infographs?
>>2768411
google "the strobist"
In the future, at least locate basic information on how to use a piece of gear before blowing money on it.

Thanks bro.
Question: Does my camera have a maximum sync speed? I have a HSS flash, though.
So the main tip seems to be
1. Underexpose the ambient light 2 stops
2. Increase flash by 2 stops
Hey /p/ went to photograph and event yesterday with my 35mm 1.8g DX and a D7100 and noticed that almost all of my pictures are "back focused".
Thankfully I managed to salvage some pictures and I'm able to live through another day
Problem is that I'm afraid that this happened again. I've never had this problem with a different lens with my camera, just yesterday with the 35mm. What can I do to fix it?
By selling your shit and buying a Sony a7II with a 35mm Zeiss lens. But seriously use the micro adjustment feature on your camera https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqhH2ELuCaE that should fix it.
Reminder not to listen to mirrorless memers

Sup /p/, I got two 8mm cameras, one is a Bell and Howell Model 430, and the other is a Chinon Zoom 8. Neither of them work, Bell battery compartment is rekt and Chinon just won't turn even after I resolder all the wires inside, nothing. There are no real deep info about these camera on google so came here to the good old place of 4chan to discuss the faith of these oldie. I really have to no clue what to do with them, my only option that I am thinking is to remove the lens and use them on my other 35mm cameras. What do you think, it's all up to you, and yes I will keep updating.
The lenses aren't gonna do you much good on 35mm, since they only cover an 8mm frame.
However, I like the idea of trying to reuse them. Are they permanently fixed or C-mount? You can get adapters for M4/3, and they have somewhat decent coverage there, or, even better, you might be able to rig them onto a tiny sensor mirrorless camera like a Pentax Q or maybe a Nikon 1.
>>2767281
your idea is not bad at all, but I have no clue on that, I'm going to disassemble the two and see if they are c mount. In the mean time, keep throwing out more suggestion, I like em.
here are some close up of the lenses so I can give you all more ideas.

Who cares, sony will release a new A7 which will make these hunks of metal obsolete.
>>2764448
It will probably be a lot better in some ways, and a lot worse in others. It will depend on your usage, your lens budget, your needs, etc. At will almost assuredly have better raw image quality.
>>2764448
Pentax has been feeding you with "FF soon! So very soon!" for years now, and you idiots still keep falling for it.
Hell, even if they do finally release a FF camera, it will have no lens system to speak of, unless you're one of those hipsters who put banged-up old takumars on a multi-thousand dollar camera and call it art.
Visited an odd part of my polish hometown - a small area which somehow avoided progressing in time past WW2
An area of poor, small houses clumped together, surrounded by contemporary districts
A maze of narrow dirt "streets", each one with a proper name and probably over a century of history behind them.
Basically a scaled-down version of the infinite american suburbs, each plot of land tightly packed with sheds, gardens or fruit trees. Or rubbish, mostly, these days.
"Although taking, sharing, and viewing photographs has become second nature for many of us, our regular engagement with images does not necessarily make us visually literate. This course aims to address the gap between seeing and truly understanding photographs by introducing a diversity of ideas, approaches, and technologies that inform their making. In this course you will look closely at photographs from the collection of The Museum of Modern Art and hear a variety of perspectives on what a photograph is and the ways that photography has been used throughout its nearly 180 year history: as a means of artistic expression, as a tool for science and exploration; as an instrument of documentation; to tell stories and record histories; and as a mode of communication and critique in our ever increasingly visual culture."

Is this a free course? What's the price if not?
>>2767367
$50 to get a certificate that I guess might be able to get you a cup of coffee with a $1.50...free without the certificate.
>>2767367
Nope it's free, you just have to sign up for coursera.org. If you want a certificate at the end (???) it's $50, but otherwise, free.
I highly recommend everyone here participate in this, it's fantastic knowledge that can really help anyone interested in photography.
It's about photos, expression, and art, rather than gear, the manual, or MTF charts.

What the fuck? I get the idea for video shooters, but making a video-centric accessory for a lens that'll be too slow for serious video work seems ridiculous to me. Anybody who'd actually want this thing would be much better off buying an actual camcorder instead of a ghetto-rigged DSLR setup.

What a pathetic mess of a shot.

Time to look for a new hobby, m8.
Hello guys, I have a Konica S Hexanon 48mm lens, rangefinder. The thing is the next...I found it a couple of days ago and I cant make it focus, like, its suppoused to merge the two images I get, but when I move the distance dial of the lens, nothing happens, it doesnt move nor focus. I can make the lens bigger (when I put it on 10m distance) and smaller (If I set it to shorter distances like 1m) but In the visor i dont notice any difference, it is suppoused to be like this or it is broken? Can it be fixed? Sorry for the fatal english.
The lens doesn't get bigger or smaller, it either moves closer to the film or further away (this is how it focuses). Are you saying that neither of the two images (if there are two, perhaps the mirror is broken) are moving to merge when you move the distance dial?
>>2771626
Can't focus? must be a Fuji.
Focuses
Unrealiably
Just
Incapable
>>2771629
The thing is that I have a fucked up english lol. Yes, it moves closer to the film or further away. It is a rangefinder, so the two images that I have to merge, they DONT merge, and they dont move neither...so I guess the lens is broken somehow? The shooter speed dial works fine (500 to 1 sec)
Can someone identify the top two polaroids for me?
tan one is the spectra 1200i. One on the left is a 600 series
Spectra is decent
Spectras are good so-long as it has all the controls on back.
How would one go about doing it? I've heard of photo agencies, but which ones?
For example, let's say I took a picture of a high profile celebrity walking their dog.. Where would, and how would I go about selling that photograph?
What's the process?

Email the Daily Mail and describe the photo and ask them if they pay for it.
Basically look for shitrag tabloids that post pointless celeb shite and contact them, offering your material.
>>2771063
How about agencies though? A middleman that can do all the selling for me and then he/her/they get a cut of my profits.. Something like that.

Bump for interest
For the first time in a while I feel like I have enough pictures to make my own post. It was snowing out pretty hard in Boston today and then there was a really nice sunset, so I took a half day and took some pics walking around before going home to snowblow the driveway.
Some of these I like, some I'm not sure about, so let me know which ones fall into which category for you to help me pick the keepers.
