Share your favourite vintage photos. Something that's capable of reviving the fragment of beauty of a forgotten time. Black and white is acceptable, but colour is more captivating.
This is Porsche 911 manufacturing in Stuttgart, Germany, in late sixties/early 70s. The sunlight really brings something to this shot that is devoid in many other warehouse/manufacturing shots.

Fear not the location and subjects may have changed but the VSCO usage and white borders haven't, if anything VSCO usage is at an all time high.

Can someone give some pro-photographer names so I can study their pics. I can't even name a single one.
>>2770529
Two that I think everyone should study:
Ansel Adams
Henri Cartier Bresson
After that, just google up the kind of photography you're interested in. You'll find names pretty easily.
Outside of that, fucking lurk a bit. There's a good number of named, great photographers listed on this board right now (which is part of why I'm just giving you two names).
Edward steichen
Martin Parr
Josef Koudelka
On second thought just go to Magnum photos and look at all their photographers.

I did some tests, and jpg turned out as good as raw.
I took some photos of a house with a very bright sun. Locked the exposure where it was the most bright.
Then tried to recover some shadows and couldn't see any difference from recovering the shadows with raw and jpg.
Raw is just not worth the space.
>>2767652
If it doesn't help you, don't use it then. I can think of no real reason for you to post here beyond you making a rather poor attempt at trolling.
>>2767652
>I did some tests
Raw is better for pushing shadows than it is for pulling highlights, but even with highlights, there should be a pretty noticeable difference.
Post your results.
>>2767652
>couldn't see any difference from recovering the shadows with raw and jpg.
Canon camera detected.
Has anybody here ever joined a photography club? I don't want to learn how my camera works but I'm hoping there's an old guy with awesome composition and subject knowledge who will do walks around my city giving me advice.
I keep turning in a gearfag and realise I just need to go outside and shoot some stuff instead of googling lenses!
>>2769627
It's all about the gear man, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Real pixel peepers know that when it comes to photography image quality is king. If your equipment can shoot optimally in any setting then you are golden. Composition is just a meme of timing and luck. Just take pictures of what looks good to you. Also you will meet gearfags in many stages of life.
>>2769657
After a while I get cravings and look up the prices of cameras.
After a shooting session I'll review the photos I took and critique them in my head but after I'm bored of doing that I theorize what lenses and cameras are around.
>>2769657
This guy is a troll
Go join a club, take pictures, get into film, do anything BUT rely on /p/ as your *main* source of info. There is good advice here but you have to know how to weed out the shitposters.

Ge Zhen is a church leader of the Church of Almighty God. Because of believing in God, she was watched by the CCP government secretly for half a year. Once in transferring the money used for preaching the gospel, she was arrested by the police. In order to seize more church offerings, the CCP government cruelly tortured Ge Zhen and another church leader over and over, even dragging them to a secret place in deep mountains to set up a court and interrogate by cruel torture. Under the extreme torture of the devils, Ge Zhen's...

So this darling client of mine is insisting of getting me to do an HDR photo of their new venue, packed full of pissed people, at 10pm on a Saturday. I've always steered clear of HDR, mainly due to the notorious clown-vomit you see splattered around online; I've always preferred to use ND grads (the bulk of my work comes from real estate).
So is this going to involve a week of masking in every fucking person in the shot, or is there a more effective way of doing this (HDR of moving subjects at night)
>>2768365
take a normal picture and just put an "HDR effect" in it. Don't tell the John.
Pic related. I did it in 2 min using some random online picture editor, you can do something similar in a better way using LR or w/
>>2768392

>>2768365
Can't you fake an hdr effect with a raw image? Just mix 2-3 versions of the same pic with different exposure settings and he'll be happy
Have you ore-ordered your GR killer yet, /p/?

How does one become a professional photographer? Is a college degree required or do you just have to be good at it?
>>2772410
To become a professional, you need equipment that is up to the task you will ask of it, you need enough skill to operate that equipment reliably, and you need someone willing to pay you for your work.
College is not required, and generally won't give you skill. It will give you practice, an environment that supports immersion in your art, and it will give you contacts, but it is not required, no.
Above all, you need people, marketing, and business skills.
Camera equipment is important. Technical ability and knowledge is important. College degree can be helpful, but not required.
But even the most extraordinary photographer, whose images are routinely on par with photography legends' photos, will fail if they can't do the people and business side of photography.
The ability to sell out and compromise any values you hold.
A tolerance for shitty weddings, shitty product photography, shitty model shoots, shitty cliche garbage of every color under the sun.

Hey /p/,
I want to publish my portfolio so I'm looking for printing options. I have checked out Blurb, Snapfish, Lulu, Artifact Uprising etc.. they all turned out to be a little bit expensive with worldwide shipping.
I'm trying to print 15 samples of my portfolio (60 page hardcover). Do you know of any publishers which offer worldwide shipping for a tight budget? Thanks a lot!
