I'm not trolling
It's a serious question
I don't know shit about digital photography or computers.
I asked on /wsr/ and got directed here.
The pic is just a snapshot I took of a sunset in Indonesia
I wasn't asking to get my photo rated
If you can't answer my question, please don't bother shit posting..
>>2776303
It might help to give some details, like what sort of camera you are using and whether or not you have used that card in other devices besides the camera.
Going to be posting a sequence of images related to the metamorphosis of Monarch Caterpillars, there is a shit load so be patient.

These two are when the Caterpillar is preparing to turn into a chrysalis. Unlike moths they actually bust out of their skin instead of "spinning" a cocoon.

Shooting a bridal shower in what may be a cramped basement party room.
What are some disadvantages you've had to overcome during events? (weather, small venue, lighting, lack of experience when first starting...)
Not having at least one prime lens
Using popup flash since i didnt have a real one yet
Investing in speed lights was one of the best things I did for my photography and taught me lots about shooting manual

Not trolling or joking.
Oh man, if it can go wrong, it probably has gone wrong.
One time, I got to my destination 3 hours late because I got to the gate for my flight on a regional jet, and they said the carry-on space was full and I'd either have to check my camera bag or wait for the next plane. I waited for the next plane, because showing up late is better than showing up without working gear.
Another time, I was shooting a 3-day event at Laguna Seca, and had to drive to San Jose and back (2+ hours each way) on the first day after realizing that the 500mm I'd rented wasn't...

Hello,
I'm a landscape photographer who is still learning the ropes and would like to get a more ,,professional” look from his photos. I believe the problem to be in the post processing area and I have been taking all the common advice into acount (tripod, remote, mirror lock, etc). I am really aming for a clean sharp image with no noise, but no matter what I do I end up with a ,,dirty” look on all my photos. Could anyone give me some adive? Thank you, here is a shot that I am very proud of, will add more in this thread.
Here is another, I believe that the problem is more obvious here
>>2775426
So i guess that it's a color issue. Thank you, I've been realy searching for this in a lot of internet tutorials, but all of them are really lacking advanced stuff.

No exif? Probably because I downloaded straight from Flickr.
Well I shot it with my a7 24-70mm lens zoomed in all the way at f4.0 with 30' exposures back to back.
/p/ you spend too much time talking about gear and posting shitty photos to get critiques and followers on [Photo Sharing Website]. Can we start having threads talking about great photographers (new and old) to talk about their work, what we like, what we don't like, introduce people their work, etc...
Here is Nick Brandt's newest project. Many of you are probably familiar with his work. Discuss.

Not OP, but every time you post, I understand the rampant hate you get a little better.

I'm sure it would get plenty of likes on social media but I find it a bit contrived. The only real benefit in making it black and white is to force the black and yellow stripes on the pick-up truck and the train to match the black and white stripes of the zebra

Gear Thread
If you have questions about a new camera, what lenses to buy and anything related to gear or wondering about getting into photography, post it in this thread.
Do not attempt to make a new thread for your new Rabal, broken glass and being new. You have been warned!
I repeat, ANYTHING GEAR RELATED goes in here!
And don't forget, be polite!

I'm new here, but why do all gear threads have Pentax cameras as the main image? Wouldn't Sony be the most appropriate since the rep of all being gearfags?
To contribute: Have a K-3 and picked up a 50mm1.7 and holy shit I forgot how hard it was to focus similar lenses. One of the reasons I stayed away from my 50mm1.4 Cannon FD mount when I was in a basic film class for so long.
>>2774245
Why would you buy a manual focus lens when you can get an autofocus ona with the same f-stop for the same money? The DA 50/1.8 is cheap as nails.
Hey /p/, first time poster here. I only know the bare basics of photography, so forgive me if I'm spouting terms I know nothing about, but I was wondering if there's a name for the style in pic related (lots of blue/green, "vintage" lo-fi quality, some sepia tones (I guess?)). I see it a lot in Asian urban/landscape photography and I love it. Is it all done in post or is there a way to capture that "feel" with just a specific lens?

i don't know a name for it but different films have different tones, so you could possibly check out this list of films with examples for each
http://curatingcuteness.com/2013/05/35mm-film-guide/
and then look that up
it has virtually nothing to do with the lens and more to do with the film or the post-processing done to the digital photo

>mfw most lenses can't even produce an image sharp enough to utilize the full megapixels of your sensor
>>2770862
Many can in the center.
So you can crop without losing sharpness.
>>2770862
That sounds like a fatal blow for cameras with shit lenses, like Sony.
>>2770862
Even a shit lens will still improve with more sensor megapickles. It will just gain progressively less.
Also, dxomark's wonderful testing method produces 13 MP resolution on a 12 MP 5D with certain lenses, so take it with a grain of salt.
