4 MB,
This was my first roll of black and white, and my first roll using an actual light meter rather than completely guessing (second roll of film ever...).

They all seem a teenth bit under exposed, should I open up an f/stop/slow my shutter speed down by one or could this be in the development process?

This was on a Rollei if that makes a difference.

Unless you're posting the whole roll, this doesn't deserve it's own thread.
But to answer your question, it's more likely you don't know how to use a light meter.
If you just pointed it at that scene, the brightness of the highlights would definitely have thrown off the reading.
You should meter for what you want correctly exposed., or if that's too complicated for you, for the shadows, in most scenes when shooting negative film.

How the fug do you destroy a shutter while inserting a roll of film?

Get a new camera. Shutter problems are never easy to repair and letting a professional repair it would cost more than the camera's worth.
You could always screw off the bottom and see if something's wrong. Maybe it's a simple fix. Probably not though.

Right now, what do people think is the best well-rounded option for internal 4k in terms of features to price?
>>
>>2762885
I don't know you pick it out. Just go find a camera you like. Probably rent it and then buy it. But just don't be a hipster and just try to be cool with a mirrorless Red Epic and start claiming you are better than everyone because of that camera.

Yes the RED Epic is good, but seeing fucking trees with piano music is shitty the 545th time when labeled under test video and not a short film title.

107 KB,
In terms of salary, what is probably the max I'll ever earn doing retouching or photography?

Currently I do both for a local cosmetics company and get paid 55k plus budget for photography; its extremely lax, I know all the equipment in the studio, and since I'm extremely proficient in photoshop I can do things in minutes compared to other illustartor designers, so my security is there.

However I feel like I should eventually ask for a raise but Google is saying I make practically the ceiling, with the 90% percentile making at most 75k.

Should I continue retouching/photography or focus on a different concentration?

55k with job security is pretty decent for photography, sadly. I made a little more doing a similar job for an auto parts company, but I was also doing a lot of sales and customer service, running the website and social media, and helping to run the business at the same time.
>>
>>2776604
How do you land a job like this? I'd like to learn retouching, but I get the impression that it's not like earning tech certs; it's a little less discrete than that. Where would I start, both as far as jobs and in learning?
>>
>>2777037
Worked as IT first, but then they started ramping up emails so I ending up helping the design team. Since I was photoshopping since middle school (or around the first CS; making mostly forum signatures and just doing whatever tutorial I saw) I practically knew most of the shortcuts in PS, which led me to a recommendation to photography. Company had a marketing fallout so all inner-working knowledge is retained through me and a few other people, which gave us budgeting oversight and security.
Retouching is learning...

Some snapshits from a rare day of sunlight and frost here.
This is APX 100 that I found in a bulk loader in a thrift store. Shot at ISO 25 and developed for 18 minutes in xtol1+3.
Still a little thin, though. Could easily have given it a couple minutes more in the developer.

Here are 4 photos from a bi-weekly activity, that I have been doing for the last month, with 4 to 6 year olds.

This activity involves the children bringing in objects that the wish to see enlarged in a macro photograph.

Every two weeks I also use a set of photos I take with them, surrounding a common theme (e.g.: different types of paper, fabric etc.); this set is incorporated into a 'Guess what?' game that I have set up at the entrance of the school where I work.

The whole point of the activity is to show the children that their environment beholds more detail than that seen by the naked eye.

I have also started trying out a few homemade 'camera obscura's to see if it's something I could do as an activity with the children.

Unfortunately, insofar I haven't found an opaque paper translucent enough to act as a good screen, nor the proper distance the screen should be from the pinhole.

I built a light tent out of foam core and white nylon from the local fabric store once. Basically, I just made a box out of the foam core and then cut out all but the outer 2" or so of each side, and then covered it with the fabric. It worked pretty well but took up a lot of space and wasn't really something I could take apart and reassemble later, so I got rid of it and bought a real light tent later on.

Hey /g/ I'm looking to buy a new camera to take my hobby of shooting video (which is also my career ) to the next level and I was considering the Panasonic HC-X1000 and I was wondering if any shutterbugs here had any hands on experience with it. Or would a DVX200 work better? I hear the blacks on the HCX1000 can be dookies and that it sucks at low light.

Took my X70 to a Trump rally just now. I also got the Creative Cloud and I've noticed that as I load an image, LR will change the colors just a bit after it has loaded my RAW file. Is there a way to stop that? It seems like it saturates the image a bit and it teases me with colors I prefer as it loads the image and then takes it away.
