Is there any good reason why won't nikon simply put a fucking af motor on this lenses and call it a day?
Also I guess this is the only nikon 50 mm fixed lens with 9 blades.
I really don't understand this.
>>2787597
To make you buy screwdrive bodies
>>2787599
It is a MF lens.
>>2787599
Screw drive bodies are the best bodies anyways. And D lenses are best value for money in Nikon land anyways.
Anyways, Nikon probably doesn't want to dump the R&D into redesigning the 50/1.2 for AF, because it will end up a $1200 lens like Canon's 50/1.2, and the return on it won't be high enough with only pros and rich enthusiasts being able to afford such a lens.
What I really want Nikon to make is a digital sensor inside the FM3A body. Manual everything (shutter, aperture, ISO, focusing),...

Muh fast lenses is what is killing photography.
f4 on the left, f2.8 on the right
>>2787098
Nothing is killing photography except for your unwillingness to engage in it.
>>2787098
How are large, fast lenses killing photography? an f2.8 24-70 needs to be larger than an f4 one. Do you understand how aperture works?
>>2787098
High-end lenses are *enabling* better photography, also because they're now often sharp with pretty wide apertures.
Lazy people who don't want to use them are flooding photography with technically poor images, but that's life.
Hi guards,
/v/ here. I played last year's GOTY Life is Strange and it got me interested in photography. I would like to take pictures like Max with a Polaroid, mostly because it produces good quality shots with the built-in flash (pic related, shot in a dark corner of a girls' restroom) and because it would let me save on the prints, SD cards and all that other stuff. I have not red the LIS book yet, but those of you who have, do you know if the author describes any cool techniques Max uses in the game to take good pix.
Thanks in advance. I've read...

unfortunately anonymous, polaroid ceased to exist as a company several months ago and as a result polaroid cameras are only available used, and the film is no longer in production, nor is there a single company out there making film for them, as that would be an Impossible filmstock because many of the chemicals are now outlawed by the EPA. Some still deal in illegal bootleg films and antiquated expired film that will give unpredictable results, but most often just completely black frames
There is however a shining beacon on a hilltop, or rather, on Japan, atop Mt Fuji where the 財閥 of Fujifilm has assembled their research and development forces to launch the Instax line, a more modern and incredibly widespread line of instant film cameras and film, and even a printer so you can print your favorite photos from Instagram or Facebook or your iPhone's DSLR-killer camera! With Black&White and Sepia affects available!
I hope you enjoy your newfound interest in photography, nati/v/e.

To catch falling rain, small aperture, fast shutter, compensate by bumping ISO up. If you're lucky you'll get some sunlight on it too.

shoot rain with a flash.

Ass.
Boring.
The camera definitely needs a better photographer.
Honestly, it's terrible. The ISO is too high, so the pic is grainy. You tried going for an Ansel Adams shot, but failed to use the rule of thirds, or even fifths for that matter. The empty space should only be used to create space. It looks like you were trying to hide some stuff under the tree.

Why the fuck did you create a thread for this? Use the recent photos thread.
ive heard the previous american travelcam is mia.
and as it so happens, ive got an original ultra wide and slim. i got it in original packaging and it's in great condition. for those of you unaware of the vivitar uws, it's a pretty famous toy camera known for its 22mm plastic lens which produces some unique aberrations, especially real striking lens flares.
it has a fixed shutter speed (1/125) and a fixed aperture (f/11), so its not really suitable for anything but daylight shooting. all the same people like it and its quite collectible.
some info: http://camerapedia.wikia.com/wiki/Vivitar_Ultra_Wide_%26_Slim
and a demonstrative video i took of mine: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwdNwD9FhukOcWtXN0NNZVhIVlk/view
would yall like the vivitar uws as a new american travelcam? i've always been a fan of those threads so i'd be happy to contribute it if there's interest.
talk about it in this thread, but (and this is important!!) if you want to sign up to participate u gotta email me at [email protected]

So I was looking at my 28-70mm f/3.5 lens, and I realized that the maximum was literally not physically wide open, as you can see in the picture compared to my f/1.4 lens. I know that f-stop does not necessarily describe the quantity of light that hits the sensor, but why can't my f/3.5 lens open even wider? What would happen if the aperture was removed all together?(not that I'm planning on doing that). General aperture discussion thread?

because the aperture blades have width that doesn't magically disappear when they're retracted.
It's constrained by the size of some smaller elements than the front. Try looking at it from the back.
>>2786716
No.
The aperture is literally the ratio of the opening of the aperture blades to the focal length.

Hello /p/!
I have been browsing and posting here for a couple of years and have to credit this board for helping me land my first real photography gig. I'm now working for a large company as their commercial photographer, building their studio and photographing all kinds of products for e-commerce.
Here are some things I think will help others looking to get full time gigs.
1. GO TO SCHOOL. I didn't neck still get finish my degree when I got hired but I did get into a good photography program at a local college that taught me the fundimentals of...

6. HAVE SPECIFIC GOALS. Don't think "I can shoot anything! Hire me for all of it!" While you will have to branch out, you want to hone a specific and valuable skill so capitalize on being a macro shooter or a portrait shooter or a corporate shooter, etc.
7. You may have to travel for working interviews and yes, it will be on your own dime. This is the toughest part. As an unemployed photographer money is tight so try your best to negotiate travel costs or make sure the company pays...
