Please tell me whats wrong with this reel and why it wont pull inn the line when im reeling. Super green fisher here
>>790202
Is it looped anywhere? Is the drag set too loose? Is the line lapped over itself?
>>790203
Im sorry English isnt my first language and im super green, so I can only answer the part about the drag, and no its not too loose.
Is this video any help?

did you just imply that Colin Nathaniel Scott could only read Chinese?
>>789898
well it would explain how one might end up 225 yards off the boardwalk
>>789906
I fully admit the Chinese are dumb animals less worthy than rats but I don't think a language/literacy barrier was the issue here. I think it was entirely foolhardiness, recklessness, and hairbrained and temerarious impulsiveness.
Alright which one of you /out/ists did this? Were you trying to shit in the fumarole?

he was handicapped, perhaps someday you'd do the same
Can we start putting shock collars on tourists going to Yellowstone and installing radio fences on trails so that they get a nasty jolt for going off trail? Seriously, this shit is getting ridiculous.

We finally got some cloudy and rainy weather down here as the remnants of that tropical storm have been hanging around. Haven't had a ton of time to go fishing, but the few min I have been at the lake, I have been having even worse luck than when it is sunny all day. I thought the weather would help but I guess not. Or I'm just fishing the wrong spots with the wrong lures.
Talk about fishin'
Went striper fishing this morning. It was windy as hell and cold ad balls. Got a few though. I'm going out to plum island again Friday night. Hopefully the bite will be better. I got a new lucky strike needle fish to try out. $20 for one lure, shit better produce.
>>789240
The few times I have tried to fish with bait instead of lures the past couple years, I end up walking away with another rod that has a lure on it and get nervous my rod is gonna fly into the water.
I do need to hit some catfish or carp one of these days. I see so many huge carp and I'm sure these FL lakes have some nice catfish.
>>789244
thats why i wont just set 2 rods down and fish with a lure on the third away from the other two, i want to sit right by them and il watch bideos on my phone or some shit while waiting
yo - looking to buy a decent knife but im a noob when it comes to which manufacturers i can trust for quality and reliability etc
can u recommend some knives pls !

Gerber is an American brand. And bear grylls is a trusted outdoor enthusiast.
Have you considered a gerber bear grylls survival knife?

how much do you want to spend?
How bad of an idea would it be for me to take my first backpacking trip alone?
I don't really have anyone I could go with, my girlfriend isn't exactly the outdoorsy type and plus she can't afford to buy a bunch of backpacking gear, and my friends certainly wouldn't be interested either
I'd do a one or two night trip and take plenty of precautions, but how dangerous would this be?
>>788478
>how dangerous would this be?
That mostly depends on the location and what you are sharing it with.
Have you done you research? My advice is this;
Know the area you're going to go, and tell at least one person from home. Tell them the time frames you are planning. Stick to your own time frames. Don't be afraid to call the trip. And of course have all your gear and a knowledge of LNT. It's always dangerous, keep risk mgmt in mind.

As far as I know the only wildlife threats are bears
General Sunglasses Thread
>and a little request
You spend time out, right?
I am thinking of buying Polaroid sunglasses.
Has anyone bought a pair?
Are they any good, for their price of course?
Tell what you are wearing, also any preferences.
>pic related, the pair I want.
>>788159
I didn't know poloroid made sunglasses. Look like those old ray bans.
I have bought probably 10 pairs of nice polarized sunglasses over my life. I have lost or broken every sigle one.
Polarized sunglasses are great. They let you see great for fishing. But get the cheapest ones you can find no matter how ugly. You will lose them.
I run cheap-ish safety glasses. Z87.1 approved when I need that, nice to know they're held to some degree of safety when I'm on snow or moto and there's chunks of ice, snow, dirt, rocks etc being hurled at my face.
Inexpensive to replace when they get scratched or if I lose them.
Also, fuck air travel.
>Flight's delayed an hour!
>the $15 sandwich was good, but not $15 good.
>>788172
They are 3 times cheaper than ray-bans and they are known for their lenses, but I don't know about the frame quality.
And yes they are wayfarers, copy of the Ray-Ban.
>mfw i see someone on the trail wearing jeanshorts and sandals.
ehh, if they can do it and not feel like shit, good for them.
like we walking keens or flip flops? also jean shorts are wat better than nylon for sliding down rocks, scree
>>788134
>giving a shit about other people's clothing
>mfw
Yes, that is your face when because that face in the pic is barely visible through the pound of makeup, dyed hair, and contact lenses. No wonder you give a fuck about how everyone else looks. You can't stand how you look.
Hey /out/
I, like many of you I'm sure, suffer from this.
It can really ruin a good trip innawoods.
I don't like the idea of taking tablets/sprays and being reliant on them. (Just in case SHTF)
Any anons found any good cures/remedies?
Thanks

if it ever comes up again then just get more local honey.

Any idea how local it should be?
Git some! Git some! Git some, yeah, yeah, yeah! Any cairn who runs, is a cairn. Any cairn who stands still, is a well-disciplined cairn! You guys oughta do a story about me sometime!
I done got me 157 dead cairns kicked over. Plus 50 water buffalo, too! Them's all confirmed!
what is your cairn kill count /out/?
On my first trip I saw some and I sort of liked where it was done. Just a little rocky area surrounded by trees.
Best way to do it tho is to get a large rock and hurl it, I'd imagine
>>787539
What would you do to this carin op? Please tell us in detail. And tell it to us slowly.
>>787539
Wuts a water buffalo?
What does /out/ sleep on?
I just want to take some kind of informal census of what the board uses, because I simply can't sleep on those cheap roll-up ground pads.
Tits to make it worth your while.
I got a cheap foam pad cause 1 im cheap and 2 all I really need is a head rest + something on my lower back (extra clothes)
This was just with experience from 1 night ive done recently and i could probably see my self buying an inflatable in the future, but im afraid they're not as comfy as I think.
I sleep on my sides, can on my back but naturally when I fall asleep i go on my sides.
It makes me wonder what the hell humans did to sleep before mattresses.

Gorillas will make beds out of palm fronds and shit.
I think growing up without beds might make you a bit less delicate though.
