Hey sc/out/s,
can any ausfags out there help,
I live in victoria and there's no decent places to find proper outdoor gear.
Places like Kathmandu, Mountain Design, Mitchells Outdoors, Rays Outdoors, Annaconda, they all have the same, overpriced luxuries people buy to make a camping trip more like a living room in the woods.
I wouldn't care but it doesn't leave room for anything useful, and if there is theres never a good range of anything useful.

Can anyone recomend some good stores, I just want to enjoy the outdoors properly, but commercialism...

Aussie disposals to some extent, maybe. They won't have the same range of stuff and what's there is more likely to be milsurp though obviously. On the overpriced front though, their gear is often a bit cheaper. The ones near where I live often tend to carry maps and stuff like that too.

Gun shops, sporting goods stores and archery pro shops that cater to bowhunters have some general outdoors stuff, but again, limited range compared to the ones you mentioned.

Similarly I envy the Americans - second...

Can you list any stuff you're looking for in particular?
>>
There's a site called Wild Earth which typically has prices cheaper than most.
I think they have a real store too. In Brisbane.

I found this site the other day:
http://www.findsports.com.au

It looks like they have a real warehouse store, but how much of it is on site to have a look at? I don't know. Their prices are also really fucking cheap.

As for handling stuff irl? You've said it. There's no place that's going to have the range of big US chains here.

Have you tried Little Bourke Street in Melbourne and Smith St...

Sounds good to me. 500km is not that much, you won't need to take spare tires. Be sure to get flat-proof tires like schwalbe marathon, though. Always carry enough water and always have bananas with you. Get a micro-fibre towel if you can, they're lightweight and dry super fast.

Also you don't neccessarily need expensive stuff to tour. I toured the netherlands on a supermarket bike with cheapo-panniers. Had no major problems. The one thing you need to put money in is a good an sturdy rack, everything...

Ok so /out/ has really gone patch crazy lately and I want them all.
Can we have a central thread with all the patches coming down the pike and links to them all?
As near as I can tell there are at least;
4 Cairn patches
3 picnic bear patches
MGTOW patch
1 bear knife in mouth patch.
Am I missing any?
Anyone have links?

I know the pvc picnic bear patches can be bought on the kommando store, and I don't think the cairn patches have been made yet
Pic is what the cairn patch is probably going to look like though, which is good because it looks the best out of all of them imo

There's:
2 /out/ bear patches one 2" one 3" which are no longer available
1 Bear on shield with ursa major also no longer available
A guy made a version of the bear with the mora in it's mouth with sc/out/ on it for himself so obviously that's unavailable
Another version of the sc/out/ bear will be up for sale soon along with the bear shield minus the ursa major constellation both are being sold by the same guy
Ivan is selling a round patch /out/ bear in pvc
I think those are...

2" round patch, not sure if 50 or 100ex

3" round patch ~270ex

PVC round patch. Available, unknown quantity.

Shield patch ursa major 50ex

One unique sc/out/ mora patch

New "sc/out/ mora" and shield patch available soon. 200ex of each I think.

3 or 4 people have said they want to make Cairn kicker. As far as I know, none is making them yet.

hammocks are for those with refined taste and good sense. hammocks are practical, comfortable, reasonable, and economical. hammocks enhance the /out/ experience over tents. hammocks help you relax, tents make you tense.

Meh, horses for courses.

I live in IN USA and every /out/ spot I go to has plenty of trees to hammock in. Our weather is also pretty easy as well. So around the Midwest in the spring and summer and a good way into fall I mostly hammock camp when I'm out solo.

But out west in places where trees are spotty, like mountains and that dry semi-desert shit? Tents rule. Also when backpacking with either a qt you want to snuggle up with or another dude you don't, tents rule. A good one can go up just...

>>593576
The knife is great and will serve you fine. It's a shame they cost so much here in europe, we always get rapped. Americans pay like $85 for that knife which is a great deal, we end paying twice as much, we could get a Survive in 3V steel for that price. If you have a m8 in the US ask him to send it to you.

Guys I'm going to go fishing off the gulf coast soon in about a month. I've always fished off lakes and rivers, and only been surfing fishing once with some bros. I'm going to be fishing off a pier for a good part of the trip, as well as a boat. Luckily I have an Abu Garcia C4 baitcaster that I use for catfishing, so it's should be good for fishing off a pier. But what kind of rod would be best to pair it with from the surf and the a pier? Any recommended rigs for mackeral or redfish? Is it worth getting a really long landing net if I'm fishing high up from a pier?
>>
Any suggestions for a good fish finder to rig on a sit inside kayak? I'd like to spend no more than $200. I've never used one before.

Also what's the best kind of battery to use in a kayak? Are there any compact batteries specifically for kayaks? Would be great to have something that would let me power other electronics for future upgrades like nav & cockpit lights. Being able to charge a phone out on the water would be really cool too.

I play a lot of these. If you're a non-PC master race, good luck finding good ones. Steam has a lot of promising ones in alpha and beta.

-the forest
-Rust
-dayZ (more zombies though)
-Minecraft with mods and texture packs (lies realistic but there are many ways to play this game)
