Ok so /out/ has really gone patch crazy lately and I want them all.
Can we have a central thread with all the patches coming down the pike and links to them all?
As near as I can tell there are at least;
4 Cairn patches
3 picnic bear patches
MGTOW patch
1 bear knife in mouth patch.
Am I missing any?
Anyone have links?

I know the pvc picnic bear patches can be bought on the kommando store, and I don't think the cairn patches have been made yet
Pic is what the cairn patch is probably going to look like though, which is good because it looks the best out of all of them imo

There's:
2 /out/ bear patches one 2" one 3" which are no longer available
1 Bear on shield with ursa major also no longer available
A guy made a version of the bear with the mora in it's mouth with sc/out/ on it for himself so obviously that's unavailable
Another version of the sc/out/ bear will be up for sale soon along with the bear shield minus the ursa major constellation both are being sold by the same guy
Ivan is selling a round patch /out/ bear in pvc
I think those are...

Shield patch ursa major 50ex
One unique sc/out/ mora patch
New "sc/out/ mora" and shield patch available soon. 200ex of each I think.
3 or 4 people have said they want to make Cairn kicker. As far as I know, none is making them yet.
Post /out/ related skills you know, should know or want to know. Everyone pitch in!

Plant identification, plant utilization, fuel efficient cookery, trapping, first aid, hide out housing.
I study mushrooms....other plants...always nice to find a cheeky nibble....Whatcha know about that?
What brands should I stick to? Board and equipment.
Burton for everything to do with the board, the rest doesnt matter

i fucking love my gnu carbon credit. i think as far as all mountian boards go its the most bang for your buck but anything from Mervin whatever they are calling their traction system this years is pretty much guaranteed to be awesome and its all made in north america with great wood.
my best friend works at a board shop and boards all day/gets to try all the new gear and he was raving about the k2 MAYSIS. ill prob get the same myself.
bindings are all preference. i like toe caps. burton is a safe bet....

Just bought a demo board. Burton Custom Flying V for like $300. Seems to be pretty good for everything, and a hefty improvement over a 2001 Burton Clash. Get an old 2014 board to save the big bucks.
I don't really like Burton's boots because of how they fit, but the lacing system is clever. My old rossignol boots were better.
Is the Smith and Wesson 500 the ultimate bear defense gun for hikers? After all, it is the most powerful handgun in the world, and who wants do carry a rifle just to go hiking?
>>643541
I rather carry a rifle. More rounds, that quick reload, that stopping power depending on what you got.
That hanged gun would be what I take to go take a dump.
Plus have you ever fired a S&W500? Not the easiest to do a follow up shot. Recoil can wreck some one ppl.
No thanks. Rather carry a rifle for my main. Handgun for back up.
Really depends on if you are protecting against black bear, or brown.
I brought my S&W .45 M&P for black bear territory. I think that would be sufficient. I pack +p rounds.
For grizzly I'd say a .357 or .44 mag is sufficient. The 500 is too big and heavy to be practical.
Rifles looks sexy as fuck next to/strapped to backpacks in the outdoors
Is anyone here in the career of being a Conservation Officer or know anyone that is? I am looking into going into that type of career path and was wondering if it's shitty or awesome.
Border patrol would be a better choice. You get /out/ and have the opportunity of chasing wild brown animals

A few guys that still lurk /k/ were rumored to be. Possibly check there too. Not all of us came over when the board was made.

Do you like:
Investigating atv crashes?
Pulling the bodies of drowning victims from a lake?
Investigating hunting accidental shooting?
Digging through the carcass of an animal looking for the bullet of a poacher?
Killing wild hogs?
Riding on 4 wheelers looking for poachers in a woods?
Driving a boat looking for people fishing without a license
Teaching hunter education to kids?
Helping land owners keep trespassers off the property?
Hey sc/out/s, what do you use to start campfires?
a lighter
the blood of my enemies
A lighter + cotton balls covered in Vaseline
Hey /out/,
I was thinking of hiking town to town during winter in Iceland with no experience, will I die?
>>643587
Yes.
>>643588
What he said.
What if I stick to the main road and have good equipment? It would only be ~10-20 miles per day.
i see these packs all over, apparently from a billion different manufacturers. Have any of you used them? do they suck? are they a meme? if i give this as a christmas gift, will the recipient actually use it?
>>643047
do not give that as a gift it is a tiny child's size backpack. I got the largest version they make for like $15 on amazon and it's still small as fuck and feels like a ripoff.
>>643051
ty, exactly the kind of thing i wanted to avoid
They look nice but are very small and also hang so far off the back as to act like a lever. Makes hauling 20 lbs feel like 30.
I bought one and re-sold it literally days later.
What sorts of out related gifts do you want for Christmas, anons?
for muh field recordings. thank you in advance anon you're the best ;_;
DD frontline hammock with underquilt, sleeve, treehuggers and of course a 3x3 tarp.
Tired of using a crappy tent.
Fresh snow for skiing
Have any of you ever tried to wash yourselves with snow? I'm headed out for a couple of days, our shower at home is being renovated, and I'm pretty greasy. Thought I might try rubbing some snow on myself when I get out there.
Does this work? Will I die?
no it doesn't work and no you won't die
>>640371
> snow bath doesn't work
> smoke bath does work
What ev.
OP, yes it works. Stick with it until your dick looks like $0.45 in nickles.
Ow! Why would you do this?
Fill your sink with soapy water. Get a rough washcloth. Scrub yourself with the cloth while standing in front of the sink. Once you're clean, drain the water and scrub yourself with the non-soapy cloth until you are no longer soapy. You'll get a hell of a lot cleaner and you wont freeze/cut yourself on the snow.
Is there a more shocking /out/ place than Mt. Everest? Do you have any neard dead /out/ experience? If youd die while /out/ would you want to rest there or do you want your bodie to be return to your family?
>>621608
i wouldn't care i would be dead. but my family would probably want my body back. but yea if you die in a place like everest summit, you can't really expect to get it back.
i have tons of near death experiences, all of them happened outside. but none of them camping/hiking or normal /out/ stuff. they are all from jobs being on boats, or when i was a lifeguard, and then my combat stories.
if death shocks you go to the vietnam memorial in DC. it really hits you when you see all the names.
Kangchenjunga and K2 are way more dangerous. Both are around 20% death rate.
> graveyards
> 100% deathrate
Get on my level.
Hey /out/, I think it's time to get a new battle buddy, had a German shepherd, lost him a few years ago, think it's time now to get a new one.
I'm thinking Rottweiler. They are supposed to be good with kids , good /out/ , good to protect the home and don't have a high a drive as German shepherds , what does /out/ think ?
>>645247
Meme doge is best doggo
>>645247
>Hip problems, fatty tumors, trouble from certain areas that declared Rottweilers dangerous dogs
Just get a mutt from the pound, after its checked by a vet to make sure it isn't sick it will be a very healthy dog without any of the issuesyou get from pure bred dogs
>>645247
they are good dogs, just watch out for the control-freak nature
Hey anons. In Spring I'm enacting my life's dream of wild living for as long as possible in a roaming way, likely starting in south of Britain and migrating North. I'm adequately versed in trapping, botany, herblore, bow/crossbow hunting, tracking, survival etc enough that I'm not worried about being killed by malnutrition. This will essentially be backpacking that ends either when I decide to stop or in the following September, when I'm going to uni. I'm here to ask whether there's any obscure help /out/ can supply before I go, since my long-term...

It's a quiet place to be alone with your thoughts.
Unless you're some kind of sperg that hates being alone in nature it is the prime location to search oneself.
Whether you come to some kind of revelation depends on what you were planning to find out.
