Why are you this mad?

Like I said, I know almost nothing about GPS units.

I just want something small and durable that I can use for brief hikes/shooting sessions in the woods so I can find my way back to my car. No multi-day outings or extreme hiking.

Sounds like one 7.5' topo would cover your ao. At least until you learn your way to and fri.

I do. I'd bring firearms for plinking, hunting, firearm testing (seeing how the gun preforms when dirt and crap gets into it) self defense is at the bottom of the list.

Usually I just bring my mossberg 590, bring couple hand fulls of bird, buck, rifled slugs. Nice being able to have dif loads, gives me more hunting options. Love fresh meat when camping.

If I am feeling the /k/ommando in me. Might bring my AR and chest rig.

If it is just hiking, I usually just have my glock 19 that is my...

How do you not be scared if you are in a tent all alone at night out there?

I can deal with it if I'm on some sort of camping ground with some other people there even if I don't know them, but just all by myself still spooks the shit out of me and I hardly sleep. So how do you cope?

no one is out there waiting for you to go to sleep to fuck with you
that animal you heard outside your tent? it's just rummaging around doing normal animal shit, not out to get you
you just gotta get over it. i'm a hobo, when i started i was creeped out every once in a while, i'd just have to remind myself that I was the scary dude sleeping in the bushes that everyone else was afraid of.

It's scary no matter what. That's the point.

Really, by the time the night falls you should be so tuckered out, you don't give enough of a shit. You'll fall asleep in a boiler room with logs being unloaded next room if you're tired enough.

Depending on where you live OP. If you got animals that could pose a danger, I.e. bears, cougars, moose, etc. Just practice not leaving food around, prepping your food a lil ways away from main camp, don't be a slob and leave trash around.

While you're up and about, don't be afraid to make some noises to alert animals that you're there. Most attacks is due to them getting startled.

Usually humans are not a problem, just like any thing else there is a what if situation. I've...

Answers you'll get on out include: Wool, merino wool, synthetics, down, fleece and space blankets (kek).

Wear layers, avoid cotton, invest in a couple sodium acetate or battery powered handwarmers.

Around here, there are a few little taxidermy shops and they seem to always have business. I think for a deer it's around 200 or 300 dollars. Maybe more. If I dabble into this stuff, I'll probably start with some kind of small bird but I'd like to be able to mount fish and deer eventually.

Hi /out/, can we get a thread about self sufficiency?

Basically, I hate my life. I hate that we live in a world where it is absolutely necessary that you work to make money for someone else, and collect a small percentage of that so that you can live.

I want to start learning about gardening, construction, general survival.

I mean, were all going to die. Might as well do something great, interesting, etc.

Is such a unique challenge even possible? Especially for someone like me, I'm completely submerged in the technological world. Would it be...

>absolutely necessary that you work to make money for someone else, and collect a small percentage of that so that you can live

Do you even have a skill? If you are like most people you produce less at work than you get paid. You are a freeloader in life and you come here wanting us to do work for you, for free. You are a lowly parasite, your plan is unachievable because you can never scrape together $10,000 to get started on your failure. Your life is already over. Happy holidays faggot!
>>
I work for a non-profit. We have a board of directors that are not paid. My boss makes about the same as I do. There's no one getting rich off me, and I help people for a living.

You don't have to work for a corporation that makes other people rich.

>>652518
That's not really what I'm worried about; there are probably plenty of non profits and volunteering things I could do that would bring me fulfillment. I would like to try Americorp at some point in my life.

I just want to learn all that stuff and realize the dream at some point.

80 KB,
I recently moved to Denver, Colorado and I want to start going /out/ more. I go on hikes and go shooting in the mountains, but I want to get into camping, bushcraft, and shit.

However, it seems a bit more challenging than other parts of the country. We don't have an abundance of materials to work with. For example, if I want to build a lean-to, I don't have any grass/ferns/tree branches to use as thatching. Basically we have pine trees(whose branches often start higher than I am tall), some aspen and then... sandy dirt and rocks.

All the cool bushcraft...
