Can an excessive amount of hiking cause hemorrhoids?
I do a lot of hiking. About 200 miles of hiking this year, and that's reduced from previous years.
And now I have developed one large, painful hemorrhoid. Should I stop hiking to prevent it getting worse? Could it be that hiking is what caused it
What can I do to treat it short term? I don't want to go to the doctor with it.
>>656582
this is what doctors and professional medical services are for. as embarrassing, costly or awkward as it may be. you need a doctor to take care of things like this.
in the future maybe some kind of jock itch spray / monkey butt powder can help control irritation in this area.
a doctor can tell you how to control and avoid this
>>656582
You're shitting too hard/not getting enough fiber. Get some preparation H. If it's that bad, go to your fucking doctor.
>remembering this is 4chan
>troll threads a plenty
>can't believe I'm falling for it
It could be that you aren't drinking enough water. You get back dehydrated and when shitting sit there on the toilet pushing out the dry poops. That could cause hemorrhoids.
So who else is enjoying the heat in the south East?
Sc here and thought I would share what a friend in dnr just told me regarding the south East
Due to the almost non existent winter, deer aren't dying out like normal and dnr is really freaking out internally (at least in sc)
most plants think it's already spring and are already flowering, meaning there will be a huge glut of food for many deer right now and noaa suggests the south East won't really get a winter at all this season meaning many animals will be severely over populated.
Apparently...

I'm enjoying it a bit, but it didn't get cold enough here in NC for the deer to go into their ruts. Only a few people in my area got a deer, tthe biggest one was a 6 point
Hi /out/, wanna share camping stories if you have any good ones?
Here's one from last night:
>Me and boyfriend decide to go camping at Lake Louisa state park
>go there and look around, its super lame
>decide on going to Lake Eaton at the Ocala National Forest
>get there at 6:00PM
>quickly set up tent and try to get a fire going before sunset

Is that you, BaconRider? Are you ok?
Considering getting a new Archwood backpack. But not sure if I should go for the Black Geiser L5-PSi, or one of the Flextrek Whipsnake series.
I already have a Crevasse French Wedge on order, so I know I'm ready for either one.
Is this the new gear general? I was wondering if pic related will come through on the owner's promises.

Hey /out/, /trv/ here
I'm heading off to the Harbin Ice Festival in a week and, being Australian, have no idea how to deal with days of -10 and nights of -25.
At the moment I'm thinking
>thermals, couple of flannel shirts, fleece jacket +/- light raincoat for wind
>thermals, jeans (I know, cotton kills, but Harbin's pretty dry and I won't be venturing far from the city anyway so maybe I could get away with it)

This was on page 10. Why can't you degenerates answer his question instead of shitposting about moras and MGTOW?
>>653421
If you're still here, you will want a proper winter coat for those temperatures, even if they're celcius. Down to -10C can be tolerable with enough fleece under a goretex but a real coat is much better. -27 and I wear a fleece or two under my winter coat, or break out the down parka.

Did you say mgtow. That caught my attention. I know you chubby roastie will get your flaps in a bunch but I love mgtow. Mgtow rocks. Go mgtow for the winning!
Anyone live in the LA area? Anyone know of any good places to hike or just get outdoors? The city life is really wearing me out

I'm about to do a day trip up San Jacinto trying to get as far up and then turning back. Its a dry run to see what the cold is like for my try at getting to the peak, camping, then heading back.
Looking to maybe go to Banff nation park this summer. Anyone ever been there? If so what hotel did you stay at and how was it overall.
Go to the hostels, they're fun as fuck and you meet a lot of nice people.

So the other thread about metal detecting is garbage, so I'm making a better one. My friend owns a Bounty Hunter Time Ranger, and the other day we went out near a dry pond and an old cattle ranch.
Found a brooch with a psychedelic design on the front, a couple pennies and a quarter, part of a hydraulic ram cylinder, and a 1901-1914 era Winchester shotgun shell.
I actually searched without a metal detector, mostly for mushrooms and trash, and found a tin of air rifle pellets(still good) 4 pennies, a lapel pin with a lotus on it, and some Witches Butter fungus.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

That's a nice cat I have thought about magnet fishing. Some questions about it I have.
>Do you just tie a magnet to a rope/cord?
>Do you stand on the shores/docks/piers?

OP here, I haven't actually tried magnet fishing yet, but I imagine the best places to start are fishing piers, boat launches and along bridges. You could also try along dams where fishing is popular, I'm sure you could pull up a couple spoon lures and tacklebox knives.
Today I searched a spot that may have been an old pump house or pharmacy, I'm really not sure. All that is left is some steel cables, scattered brick and a shitton on old medicine bottles, vials and test tubes all piled up in a...

Anyone offroad here? I have a Jeep Wrangler that I want to take off the pavement but I need tips on how not to total it once I do
>>652105
Generally prefer the 1WD if i'm going offroad, but the truck does a fairly good job when I need the space.
Having the right tires makes a huge difference.
Get a winch in case you get stuck.
Do the easy stuff. Don't try to go out and run the Rubicon or something.
Dear /out/doorsmen,
I'm writing you today because I want to know what you believe to be the best "outdoor"stove currently on the market. I know I could easily heat rocks to cook with but I don't think the people I'd take camping with me would appreciate their food cooked in such a manner. The Firebox G2 is making waves and the BushBox Ultralight ( see picture ) along with the Emberlit are popular but if I'm going to sink money into a stove like this I want to do so only after getting opinions on which one is best and why. Maybe you like the...

The best outdoor stove is a Jetboil minimo.
>>638911
Saying something is the best is something anybody can do. What I want to know from you and others is what makes it ( in your case what makes the Jetboil Minimo ) the best? An example of this ( see image ) can be seen in the avertisement for EmberLit's Fire Ant; listing why they think it is a revolutionary product.
>>638910
I have a ring of aluminium sheeting with holes in it, that I took from an old Apple MacBook. It fits perfectly over a sterno can, and when unhooked, it slips right into my tiny cook pot. MacBooks do make for pretty pricey stoves, though.
Could a top-of-the-line GoreTex cycling jacket also be used as a three-season backpacking softshell/waterproof jacket? What would be the pros and cons?
>>656100
Can you fit your insulation below it? Is it durable enough (three layer laminate, top fabric strength)? Is it long enough to cover your ass if you so wish? Will you not miss the pockets or the hood?
>>656100
It'll work but most bike jackets have shitty pockets and are cut short in front (and tbqh, these days a lot are too short in back to be ideal for cycling). You might be better off cycling in a backpacking jacket, as long as it has decent vents and a double zipper.
The main benefit of my bike jacket over my hiking jacket is it rolls up smaller in my bag when I'm not wearing it.
Your main concern will be your pack belt and shoulder straps rubbing away at the goretex. My macpac coat has pertex reenforcements.
I'm looking for suggestions, advice, and general discussion about 72hr+ survival bags. I've started assembling mine, and would like tips from anyone who's got experience with it.
Ideally I would be assembling a bag that allows for an extended stay, assuming I can get fishing, snaring, or small game shooting to provide some meals.
Additionally, what do you think about packing a tent + sleeping bag onto an emergency survival bag? In theory I would keep them separate, but strap them onto my bag if I felt the circumstances called for them.
I've...

>what do you think about packing a tent + sleeping bag onto an emergency survival bag?
a tent could be replaced by tarp to save space but a sleeping bag is well worth the extra space it takes (along with a sleeping mat for insulation)
you could save space with compression sack tho
>>642350
>Compression sack
I'll look it up. I haven't used one before. I've always gone camping with some huge bag that seems to hold everything for 5 days+.
I've got a few of those sleeping mats. I actually forgot about them somehow... I'll go put those with my supplies now.
>>642341
don't pack food in a "survival bag" your not going to die from starvation in 72 hours.
