Hey /out/, my dad and I are going to do the PCT SOBO for a month, however far that takes us. This gear is what I am taking.
From top to bottom:
Backpack
Insulated pad
Down quilt
Dry bag for quilt and clothes
Down jacket
Waterproof jacket
Homemade hammock with sil-nylon tarp, netting, and tyvek ground cloth in case hammocking is banned.
Food bag with hanging rope

Slack lining gear that doubles as my hammock's suspension

We are shipping food boxes to ourselves once a week or so. Currently on the menu is instant rice, instant potatos, tortillas, PB, honey, taco seasoning, some granola bars we got on clearance, olive oil, oatmeal with dried fruit and nuts, and whatever fruits and cheese we can find when we pass through a town.

Really love my Firebox stove. Picking up the Solo stove "camp fire" next. Folding firebox is nice because you can use the grill attachment to cook on and doesn't take up much space at all. I just want the campfire to make it much more easy to pan fry things.

How is hunting in your country? Is it accepted by society?, strict laws?, licenses etc etc..
In My country, Sweden, it's pretty accepted by the former generations but people born -90's and later are more against it.

yes on most things, but I have yet to hear back about the proposal to allow hunting humans
I don't think the system(s) in the us are against hunting, there are plenty of laws and regulations, but they're more to protect the species that shouldn't be hunted and maintain levels of others that are
some people may not agree with it, I say it's all fine and good as long as you're doing it ethically, legally, and actually for the meat

What are you doing with it?
What do you mean by metal framed? Many internal frame packs have metal reinforcement, while Molle rucks have a plastic external frame (molle rucks are also the worst bag you could imagine)

Hey /out/ long time Lurker first time poster. I'm going to the Durango/purgatory area this coming weekend for a nice camping trip. Can anyone tell me anything I might need to know about the area? We'll be somewhere around Andrew lake. I'm told we'll be off a dirt road so I'm hoping it'll be somewhat off the beaten path. If anyone could give info on crowd level and amenities/locations that'd be great. Also the nearest recreational dispensary location would be nice

Anyone ever gone and lived off the wilderness for any amount of time? Any stories or advice? I am currently 19 living in nz and would like to at some point in the near future go spend a couple months alone in the wild. I definitely have more knowledge about this sorta thing than the average person my age (went through an SAS phase) but I assume I'd need to do extensive study/practice to be prepared.

Would it be possible to survive in middle Europe out of civilization? Lets say SHTF happens and supermarkets, etc. are empty. Is there still enough food and water in this kind of "nature"? We rarely have wild animals and I can't think of many edible wild-plants (I'm still a beginner to /out/ so I might be wrong).
if people were starving then millions of people would roam through the woods and shoot any animal they saw, it would not be sustainable hunting

This. And most would not know how to dress and butcher the animals. Your best bet would be to make your way to farms that rely on tractors to do most of the work, and offer your services and protection in exchange for a promise of food.

How big a backpack do you really need? I was looking at a British army Bergen for trips of three days to a week, but is a 100l excessive? How big a pack do you carry and for how many days /out/?
Depends on what you pack but 100l, for me is far too much. I have done 10 hike with a 40l backpack in the past.
I would say 60/75l is the sweet spot for a week trip.
100L for three days in the UK is kind of excessive. You don't have any major weather extremes to pack for, nor do you have to haul something like a bear can around.
I'd say you could be well served with a 65L pack for three days.
I've heard good things and bad things about the Bergen. I suspect that you'd be happier with a modern civilian pack though, as military gear tends to be designed with mission requirements in mind that won't really fit your needs, and they also tend to be designed for extreme durability more than comfort. yes. i just upgraded my 45 for a 75, but i only went that big because i haul climbing gear to the backcountry and wanted the heavier suspension, and in the next few years i'm going to need extra room to pack stuff for my kids.
