Hey /out/, what is your headgear innawoods?
I have this peter grimes cowboy hat I got at a music festival for free. I wrapped a Chocolate Chip camo bandanna around it. I often keep a book of MRE Matches, a lighter, a little pocket knife, and a pencil.
I like to wear a keffiyeh to scare little kids and Trump supporters passing by with their camp group.
>>707739
Chocolate chip is my fav camo pattern!
Puketarn is next, so fwiw.
>>707739
I wear one of those swagfag hats or a chocolate chip camo hat whichever i happen to grab.

Hey /out/
I currently own this Fjallraven Skogso jacket. Its a nice coat, good pockets etc but I'm looking at better waterprrofing options than rubbing it with a bar of beeswax and melting with a hairdryer.
After a little bit of googling, i cam across tincloth. Is this a viable waterprrofing option? is there any experience of using it?
as far as i know its boiled linseed oil and beeswax melted together and then soaked into the fabric.
pros / cons?
>>707584
Can you not just spray some silicon-based waterproofing shit on there?
>>707591
Not old world enough for op
>>707584
Tincloth is just Filson's marketing name for their heavy weight waxed cotton.
Cons are it is heavy and has to be replenished at least every year if you wear the garment much. Also it isn't 'waterproof' and not even as water resistant as modern membranes like goretex. Even in a middling rain, mist gets through.
Pros are that the water resisting properties are part of the fabric rather than a distinct membrane (like goretex). This means a garment can be composed of a single layer that...

Okay, I've been unemployed for about a 5 weeks now and I'm god damn sick of it
I would like to figure out a way to live without a house and just hitchhike around and camp every night
I live in England and I have the option to travel anywhere in the EU so I could go to warm countries in the winter and travel around for the summer
Pic related, its me
I'd be up for learning anything, ideas?
Money making\ food \ supplies
>>707523
learn to check catalog and ask in a relevant thread instead of making a new one
Alright how long do you think I could hitchhike in Europe for with about 200 euros
I already have the equipment
>>707565
Probably for a pretty good amount of time if you are willing to work on farms and shit to make some cash/get free food.
Has anybody here considered buying a bunch of land and setting up a tiny home with solar power and gathering water from a stream? I'm thinking of buying land in eastern Washington and setting up a tiny house on a foundation rather than trailer, getting satellite internet, and being a semi NEET (I earn interest from my investments).
>>710298
Well my dream is make lodsa of dosh and buy a large property and make a comfy large house there. Probably in the mountains.
>>710302
You can buy a nice house in Washington on 10-20 acres surrounded by National Forest to also /out/ on for less than $500K. But I could buy 30-50 acres for less than $75K, build a small house for another $50K, and have more land to own. Which I figure won't make a difference if I'm surrounded by National Forests. But at least I can do what I want without a babysitter. Plenty of privacy to raise chickens, grow pot, shoot what I want, etc.
>>710305
>Which I figure won't make a difference if I'm surrounded by National Forests.
And then one day a hippy was seen wandering in the forest next to Anon's land... And the next day two more. By July 4th there were thousands. Most obvious example of why I'd rather own the land.
I have acquired a giant black walnut tree section. What do?
Make sweet table tops.
Also talk to >>>/diy/, they know their shit.

Hello, /out/.
If the sun has set and a person is without light how does one know when to stop?
Thanks for reading,

Normally like the 3rd time I trip over something or after I lose something important and can't find it.
Anthough this normally just applies to fishing for me. When I set a rod in the grass and can't find it for 20min, it's about time to call it a night.
if you poo in the river, you wont need to wipe, the river will wash your backside as you find pleasant relief in the movement of your bowels.

What's the nicest pit toilet you've used? This one's at Boulder Pass in Glacier National Park, though when I shit there I didn't get the view because of clouds.

I really enjoy some nice scenery when following natures call.
There was a fall family trip last year and we had some bad chilli. For e reason there was a 2 bowled shitter with no divider and me and my sisters stomachs were really fucked up so we ended up putting our backs together and shitting in unison. Our asses were touching for like 15 minutes.

Did you fuck?
Hi guys!
I thought it would be really cool to design an ultimate fishing box that an aspiring angler could do well with out on the lake without spending too much money!
So, if you could only own one Plano/Flambeau box with lures for the rest of your life, what would you include?
P.S. it would be great to include a picture/link to the lure and write why you choose it.
I start with a Rapala Jointed Shad Rap.
Casts far, good depth and can be retrieved with different speeds. My favorite crankbait overall - you can catch everything from small perch to big northern pikes with this lure.
original rapala
mepps
williams spoons
jigs
hooks
misc crankbaits
bucktails
really depends what you fish though, I do mixed species but if i fished just pie itd be trebel hooks, spoons and cranks, for walters it would be cranks and jigs, bass hooks and jigs, ect ect
figure out what is around you and google what they bite and how to work what they bite
also unless you exclusively fish from a boat, fuck actual tackle boxes like the one in your OP. Get a cheap (or expensive whatever) backpack and fill it with plano boxes. plus then you...

Hi there, CA /out/ist's
At the end of this month I'll have week to drive along the coast. I'll start in LA and wanted to hit some not so crowded beaches or do some hikes. Some good waves for surfing would be cool or some place to catch some fish with a spear from the Shore. Every input is much aapreciated. I'm not from around CA so I don't know shit ;) Thank you!
>>707267
Anyone? Please?
>>707267
I live in the central valley, Not much i can say to help you. Anywhere in Cali is pretty unique and cool
a) it's sc/out/s, not /out/ists
b) how far north are you going?
c) hwy 1 or 101?
Hey, /out/doorsmen.
Last year I started wearing glasses as I my eyes went to shit. The frames that came free with the appointment are faggy hipster glasses, but I was okay with it at the time as long as I could replace them in the future.
Now that I've saved enough moneys, what are some /out/ approved eyewear that will protect me from the elements as well as wear and tear? Do anti-fog glasses exist?
>what are some /out/ approved eyewear
Just wear normal glasses, you gear fag.
>>709468
m-muh gear...
>hating on BCGs
It's like you don't want cheap, durable, frames with a wide field of view.
To answer your question though, I think there's high-impact rated prescription glasses. Although most of them look gay as hell,
Sj4000 plus vs xiaomi yi? Any screens, experience, green stories welcome
Bumping for interest. I'm searching for one for urban exploring and just hiking as i moved to making videos of my travels than the boring old hundreds of photos.
Also whats the best mounting for action cameras in your opinion? I think having it in front of your chest would be the most practical but might the arms be in the way or something like that?
>>709420
I bought a cheap chinese cam that had the same quality as my phone sony ericcson w300i had like 10 years ago... Ordered a head mount which i still have (camera sold tho) and from youtube i can tell head is better... Especially for fishing (my main reason) ... Any experiemced helping helpers here?
>>709397
i got Eken H9, 1080p@60fps and pretty sharp image
also it doesnt cost shit, like half of the cams youre saying
"Survival" Blanket, are these made with quality material or a waste of $12 USD?
Tarp with thermo reflective fabric, what would better supplement a thick wool blanket or sleeping bag?
*Pic related.
>>709117
I would use them as sleeping pad. but 12 petrodollars?

ultra-light tier
>>709126
>I would use them as sleeping pad.
That's retarded because they would provide zero insulation from the ground.
What does /out/ think of camouflage? I read something recently about some new thing based off of or similar to Multicam was supposed to roll out in 2015 to replace whatever that digital-looking stuff is that the Army currently has. Which do you like most and why? Which do you believe is most effective and why? Pic related; gibbed it from Google.
I actually just started phasing out my UCP with the OCP (modified multicam) ACUs. Shits pretty great for work but I'd never wear it backpacking or camping
>>707212
But as far as my favorite for effectiveness; PenCott Greenzone for lush areas, Multicam/OCP for transitional, and Multicam Arid for desert environments
>>707202
Shit-tier.
>You look autistic in front of others
>You are almost invisible if you need rescue
I wear bright colors when climbing or camping outdoors, and while I agree bright, neon-like colors are tiresome, I still prefer plain natural colors to cammo.
Great for the army not so great for civilian use
I wanna sex my gf inna woods.
How do? Pic related.
Any green text stories?
Am I the only one that gets real bad chafing after I ejaculate? I usually only ever have sex (just kidding) or masturbate before I shower for said reason.

lol wtf is using bronners peppermint a thing? i guess the 100th monkey is real
I have no idea what the smartest or most efficient way to start this thread is... but here goes.
Im going to take a sort of 'National Forest Tour' when Spring breaks in full. I plan to leave from Detroit, MI, in early April. I am an avid and experienced outdoorsman, but Ive never taken a road trip...
I want to start in Wayne NF in s. Ohio, and from there meander through some of the southern and Appalachian NFs before booking it westward.
I have so many questions, however, and I have no one in my life whose ever done this sort of thing, so I only have you sc/out/s to rely on ;^)
So I'll be roadtripping quite a bit kind of all across the US.
But some pretty major questions have remained unanswered, and I havent been able to find what I need with google.
>Where will I be able to get water? I have purification tablets and a filter for innawoods and such, but what about general water? Should I stock up on store bought gallons? Do I fill up at public park drinking fountains or something?
>What about electricity? I can charge my phone in car, but what about my laptop? Should I even bring my laptop? I am a writer and digital painter so thats where most my work is done
>What about eating on the road? Im obviously not going to be fast fooding it most the time, where can I wash my dishes?
>Can I really do dispersed camping in any national forest? This is what I was told previously and what I did for years in Michigan
I am sincerely relying on you shitposters for some guidance or advice. Even sites with the answered to these questions would help.
Thanks, sc/out/s
>>707139
>Where to get water
I typically only go into forrest where there are water sources. Google Earth is your friend. I also keep water inside my vehicle in case I need it.
>charging
Those little battery banks might be an option or even a solar charger. Also your developed camp sites will have power hook ups but you will have to pay to stay there.
>wash dishes
Extra water in your car/water sources. I also like...

>water
yes to all. and almost all urban water (barring flukes like flint) is potable, so once you buy a bottle you can refill it in any mcdonalds or walmart bathroom
>laptop
ummm, charge it in your car also?
>washing dishes
wipe em out real well. hobo wash them in sinks. bigger problem is going to be washing you, desu.
>dispersed camping
pretty much totally legal in national forests and on blm land. but you usually need a permit to camp in national wilderness or national parks.

I know thanks are kinda pointless on an anonymous Colombian stained glass chatroom, but thank you for the advice.
On another note, is there a place to reference state laws (mostly pertaining to what firearms I can carry, travel with, use) where the language isn't so thick in legal-ese?
I dont want to get arrested in Arkansas for misinterpreting adverbs on some legal website
