How do you sleep while /out/?

I got some questions as a noob myself; basically how would I be comfortable during the summer in New England?

in a sleeping bag on the ground, in a sleeping bag in a hammock. also a tiny pillow.

Typically I curl into fetal position and lie awake pretty much all night. I sleep in snatches of a few minutes at a go til some noise or my imagination scares me out of it.
>>
>>707791
what about the floor? It seems sleeping pads are necessary. I did some car camping once when I was young and i just remember how uncomfy it was to sleep on a tent/bag over ground.

Maybe we set up over a small rock or something

This year will be my first attempt at growing. Will be outdoors in the middle of nowhere from different strains of feminized seeds I bought online. Anyone grow their own? Tips? I'm mainly worried about how to keep them watered since it's about an hour and a half from where I live. Also when or if to prune?

Its so simple. First get a drip system or another source of water for you plants. They are gonna drink a lot. If you grow away from your home then your main problem is gonna be people stumpling across your plants and snails/deers eating the plants.

Look up some online guides. There is 1 billion of them and they are more detailed then simple posts on a japanese noodle board.

I read that you can bury milk jugs with small holes punched in them next to your plants and fill them with water. You think this will work? I'll only be able to get out there once a week or so. It's on private land so not too worried about people walking through.

>I read that you can bury milk jugs with small holes punched in them next to your plants and fill them with water

Will probably work but get the gallon ones and test it out to see how much is actually gonna drip from them (pr hour). When they are smaller you can use coca cola bottles and make a hole in the cap.

>once a week

Where do you live? your plants can die in 1 week without water (when they get bigger). Ive had plants that needed...

LC Thread One

Hello /out/. I would like to take you all on a journey with me, more similar to that of a joint project that I will dedicate to this board and effectively archive.

With winter ending, salt levels are slowly decreasing on this board, so I thought it would be a good time to introduce the idea.
I am starting to plan the building of an off the grid log cabin.

I am buying land in an area where I can effectively hunt, grow plants, fish, and do other /out/ related activities. This will be in the northeastern united states. I will be using the...

I came back to my house the day after hurricane Ike and found a red wing dove amongst the downed trees.

I took him inside and put him in a box for a few hours. Once he dried out and rested he was fine.

I let him go later that day.

Relatively new to going /out/ but have been a boy scout and have a lot of hiking experience. I live in NE Ohio and my question is: where can I go camping? Preferably off trail and not in a campsite?

Google search it. National forest service provides good information about their land.
>>
So I can camp anywhere in a national forest?...It doesn't have to be on a designated campground?
>>
>>710711

Forest no. Parks I believe they want you to. I've tried making a campsite in a state park and a Ranger came by asking me to move to a designated campsite. Dunno about National Parks. But National Forests are fine. I grew up on land adjacent to one and always built random shit up there. Never even ran into another person besides some stoner looking guy carrying a pellet gun. I was 12 and he asked if I had a lighter. He was probably 16-7 years old smoking cigarettes like a faggot.

Looking for a job that will let me be /out/ in the woods. I'm going to college soon but don't know specifically what I want to do. I'm interested and good at math and the 3 big sciences (Chem, bio, physics) and with computers.

Anyone here work in one of these areas out in some remote spot? I'm planning on building a small home with my paps in the future, but don't want to be constrained to staying near an office with a cubicle.

In truckee, went on a hike with my brother and some other people and looked at some abandoned train tracks.

Also yeah I figured bio would definitely have some outdoors stuff, although I might miss plugging and chugging equations in calc.

Are there any such devices to where I carry a GPS tracker and anyone with a code or link or something can see where I'm at? Bonus points if it has a SOS button to call 911 or something, like those things they make for old people that have fallen and can't get up.

The one that fits you better under load.

Btw. there is no legal wild camping in Europe, save for Scandinavia, Scotland and Switzerland, so do your research and/or learn about stealth camping.

This is the 5th backpack thread in the catalog an the others are nowhere near their bump limit. Does /out/ not have a Janitor?
