There was a second one earlier. What do
Enjoy the sight?
I see them occationally when out fishing and it always seemed so cool, the whe n I started working at the fish hatchery we had 2-8 of them there per day , plus we had ospreys aswell that are rarer then the bald eagles
If you're Arab, you better hide.

I come here for the permaculture threads.
I want to try out picking morel mushrooms in the Yukon this summer, and I've never tried anything like this before. Is there anyone here who has had experience with that sort of thing? Is there a way to find someone experience to go with? I don't want to die in the wilderness and I'm not too experience with the /out/doors but I'm not mentally weak either
There are some good books on Piratebay if you're looking to learn about mushroom hunting. There *should* be books on mushroom farming/hunting at your library too. It's actually a pretty common hobby in my neck udawoods (Kentucky).
There should also be mushroom hunting groups in your area. Poke around, ask a librarian- they do exist and there are experienced people who enjoy teaching others how to not kill themselves.
Source: My moonshine-drinking, racist grandma taught me how to hunt for mushrooms in the backwoods.

Morels are only found in the spring. My experience is that you can find them about the time the apple trees bloom or just about the time you need to cut the grass in your yard for the first time.

I have been family trips around america but never really lefted my home town, I have a really shitty part time job and still live with my mother I have been really depressed and have been really thinking about killing myself lately I think its maybe because I never lefted my shelter of my home town and my chronic addiction...

Hey man
I'm willing to help you construct a plan, but want to know you're legit
What's your background? What work experience do you have? Are you willing to work various part time jobs while you travel? Are you open to 'dirty' work like farm work, commercial fishing, etc?
What kind of car do you drive?
What does your /out/ equipment consist of?
>>726220
>addiction to the internet and a hermit
>tons of bushcraft experience
Anyway just wing it man. You're young anyway. Go fuck around for a few months or a year or two and if anything goes horribly wrong you can always just get a bus ticket back to your mom's place and have a bed to sleep in.

yeah I live a duel life I dive to the city everday but if I have more then a day off I go /out/ and only being a few tools and make what I need
I have been hunting dove and duck on a property for the last three years that is also used for cattle. It has become an annual event that coyotes kill at least one calf and last year they also ripped the tail off of another one. There was also and adult cow eaten but I do not know if it was scavenged or taken down by multiple yotes. Word got to my group that the two adjoining ranchers and ours have invited us to hunt the coyotes across all three properties.
I am planning to hunt them later this year and I am currently researching strategies and general practices for...

I'd be more scared of a Coyote over a Bobcat or Cougar around here. Coyotes are pests a lot are rabid. I also prefer trapping over hunting. I can check my traps every day or do and put them down. No wasting a day sitting out if I don't have to.

You missed the boat. Winter is the time for pres hunting. They are most desperate then, and their furs are most plush at that time as well.

I am planning on doing my scouting and gear acquisition during the off season and have duck hunts morning and evenings while hunting yotes in some variation of afternoon or at night.

I can make any tool I want with a knife. Can make cordage out of bark to make a bow. Can make a hand axe or a primitive axe with stone. Can boil water in my water bottle. Got warm clothing. Plenty of lakes and trout streams around. All I need are sticks to make a trap.

What is your favorite military surplus camping/hiking/walking gear?
>move to beautiful place with nothing to do
>go camping on the side of a strange ridge formation covered in native paintings
>thinking of joining the military or reserve and need to get in better shape.
Basically looking for something that will hold a light but sustainable amount of food, tent, sleeping-bag, first aid kit, and can comfortably carry 2 liters of water, preferably...

I ain't bought it yet but I'm thinking of buying pic related for bug-out and basic camping and an ALICE pack for EDC/regular walking/day hikes ( I walk EVERYWHERE; including to/from the grocery store and buy my groceries a week at a time ).
>>725864
And inb4 people ask if I'm carrying grenades and stuff; I prob won't use a lot of those pouches for their original intended use although I will be carrying a defensive AR-15 for long camping trips in case of predator attacks.
No OC photo thread? Dumping a few from recent trip to Oahu.
I'm new to all this and I've spent the last couple of weeks gearing up and researching. Today I've been around looking for pants.. and well fuck, it seems I'm too fat for all innawoods pants.
I think I have a 52-ish inch waist and I'd rather not wear my pants under my gut so to speak. I am currently losing weight rapidly, but I'm anxious to get out.
I live in sweden and fjällrävens pants are way to small.. and so are all the other brands in all the other shops. I've been looking around online and even there. I'd rather...

Holy shit nigger. I was 350lb a few years ago before I discovered /fit/ and I had only a 44" waist. Just take a window curtain and make a man skirt out of it.
>>725566
I'm about 250 pounds and I don't consider myself THAT big. I'm obviously a fatass, not like morbidly obese. The size of my "normal" pants are 44 (I don't know in what system though), but I couldn't even get 44s over my knees today.
>>725567
If you really do want to get /out/ you'll end up losing weight. Don't commit to buying stuff that won't fit you in 6 months.
I mean if you really want to get /out/ the benefits of losing just another 10lb are going to far outweigh the benefits of buying $100+ pants. Prioritize the most significant improvements you can make, in this case your physical fitness. Once you've more or less plateaued then you can start specializing by buying better gear.
Hi /out/
Was wondering if any of you could refer me to a good resource for identifying plants.
What I would really like to do is find some source of information that would be comprehensive, specific to my region, and slanted for more /out/ things. e.g. plants that are good for tinder, cordage, edible, good wood for carving, etc.
The problem I'm having is when searching for plant ID and where I live (Western Pennsylvania) I keep finding forums asking gardening related questions
Thanks
Bump, also interested
>>725483
I am interested too, I live in the midwest, and need a good list of easy to identify edibles.
bampu~
Do workboots make decent /out/ boots too?
if they're worn in then maybe?
>>725461
I was curious about that too. I have some CAT composite toe shoes / boots I wear for work and I was thinking about wearing them to the lake. But instead I just have a shitty pair of Nikes if it's dry or a knockoff pair of Timbs if it is wet.
The composite toe is light so wouldn't be too bad but it still isn't the easiest on the toes. And I would never want to wear steel toes on a hike. Those couple extra ounces would make you so tired at the end of the day.
Also gotta look at the soles....

They can be but you might want to break them in and get a nice pair of insoles.
the air got to it..
THE AIR GOT TO IT!
Be me making fire, mid summer houston tx. Practicing my bow drill game, it's pretty strong, go at it for about 30 minutes, 175%humidity as ussual. Get a really good ember going about to pass it on to my bundle,
A SINGLE FUCKING DROP OF SWEAT DROPS RIGHT ON IT, I HEAR IT ZIZZLE.
It's happened to me twice, right on the ember.

*zozzle
You guys think pic related would have any /out/ potential besides just being a more hipster version of ENOing©?
Useful for when you go to a beach or park or something. Would get fucked up first day in a forest.
>potential for /out/
I suppose you could put your clothes in it to stay dry. Or maybe your food. or use it as a pack liner.
>>725146
Seems okay.
>>725149
>Would get fucked up first day in a forest.
Always prep your camp site. In this case, that'd be removing any problems before using this.
Hey sc/out/s
I'm in need of a new sleeping bag. Looking for a 15° bag, poly fill, and something that will pack small and lean towards the lighter side
Anyone?
There's literally hundreds of reviews on the top sleeping bags by a quick wee little Google search. And there's already multiple gear/backpacking threads. Also this is a slow board. Give 24 hours before bumping.
>>725152
That's the problem, too many reviews and half of them sound like shilling. Plus I'm not seeing a lot of reviews on polyfill bags in that temperature range except for big agnes.
