My bad homie. I think they use the same headlight/shroud and possibly fender too.

She probably wasn't into you because your bike is air cooled. Too bad m8.
>>
>>15457968
alot of these have people have the bike slide out from beneath them while pulling out, are they giving it too much gas? I can see that a fair number are on wet/icy roads, but alot of them aren't.
>>
>>15458233
Ice is nearly impossible to ride on a bike because you have to steer to maintain balance. Rain is usually braking/accelerating/cornering too hard if it slides out from under you. What would be a little skid or wheel hop in a car is falling down on a bike.
>>
>>15458233
It's a combination of a lot of things that can be summed up as "new riders" It could be a wet/icy road like you said, could be to much throttle, could be another road hazard (rocks/gravel) could be a strong gust of wind or passing car. An experienced rider knows how to roll with it and handle stuff like that, a new rider panics and gives it more gas or more brake and makes it worse.
>>
>looking at oversized tanks
>half of the additional volume is lower than the fuel pickup/petcock/float-bowl or on the other side of the frame so that it can't ever reach there.
>just extra fuel weight sloshing around that can't be used
I wonder how much extra fuel volume is actually usable.
>>
>>15458257
>strong gust of wind
kek are you cruzinmoto?
>>
>>15458221
yeah, no worries

pretty much all dual sport bikes look the same if all you can see is a piece of the headlight shroud and front fender

>She probably wasn't into you because your bike is air cooled. Too bad m8.

Who knows, we didn't even interact with each other. I passed her then got stuck in traffic and she passed me, and then we both got on the freeway and got swallowed by traffic and I lost her.

Some old granny working the register at the convenience store said my helmet cam was really cool at least, and I talked to a pretty cool guy who was riding a Buell Blast with his girlfriend on the back for a bit. And then some old timer who claimed to be a motorcycle mechanic back in the day talked my ear off for about 30 minutes.....
>>
>>15458266
I often wonder about that when I see those kind of tanks. Why?
>>
>>15458233
Sand / fine gravel on the road can easily lay a bike down like that if you don't notice it.
>>
>>15458274
Wind is no joke, m8.
>>
>>15458274
No, but when turning onto a street at low speed a strong gust of wind could unbalance you. Its easy to deal with but it could fuck up an inexperienced rider. Did you even read my post?

It was just bants mate I didn't really think your bike had anything to do with it and assumed you didn't even interact with her at all.
>>
>>15458266
What tanks are you looking at and for what bike?
>>
>>15457968
does no one in Asia strap their helmets on? half of their shit ends with a rolling helmet.
>>
>>15458289
I think it's a marketing ploy so they can claim a large volume of fuel can be held in the tank. I think to have it actually work it would need 2 fuel pickups and a pump to push the fuel up to the level of the carb.
>>

So maybe it's just my experience but has anyone else noticed that the only type of bike universally liked by motorcyclists are dual sports? No matter what someone rides, cruiser, sportbike, touring, vintage, dirtbikes, they all like or at worst are neutral about dual sports. And yet every single person who doesn't ride motorcycles looks down on dual sports for some reason.
>>
>>15458323
I have a buddy that lived in Angola for a while (he works for Haliburton) and he told me that most of the locals there just put their arm through the chin strap of their helmets and ride around with the helmet hanging off their arm. Apparently they have a helmet law that requires them to "wear" a helmet but doesn't specify that it must be worn on their head so they can pretty much just hang it off their body anywhere and be in compliance with the law. He asked why they did that instead of just putting the helmets on their head and was told that the only helmets that they could afford on 3rd world shanty town tier wages were so shitty and uncomfortable that no one wants to keep it on their head for very long.
>>
>>15458356
Eh, I've never had anyone show any hate towards my dual sport bike, but I also don't engage in hooligan activities or ride in big groups.

Been looking at them (just considering all the options) for the DRZ and EXC. The Acerbis tanks specifically look like the worst offenders.

In pic related:
The tank sits on top of/around the piece of frame where the green line is. The fuel pickup is on the left side so anything below the lowest point of that (the blue line drawn there straight across for reference) on the right side can't be used at all without leaning the bike way to the left and/or sloshing it over. Even with the stock tank there's a lot of fuel that goes unused, but with a tank that size it has to be a huge amount.

The carb and fuel pickup are about the level of the red line here. Since it is gravity fed, there's no way to get the fuel below the carb to actually go into the fuel system so anything below that line is useless. Also notice how the tank goes up a little bit there and dips back down at the front. Even if the fuel was pumped up into the carb the fuel directly under the motorex sticker below the red line couldn't make it to the fuel pickup.

This is why I only ride fast at the track, even if you fuck up, its usually no big deal.

>At track today
>Go for a pass on a ZX-6 ahead of me
>late on the pass because the ZX-6 is only slightly slower on top end than my RC 51
>too fast and not in position for corner (star in shitty ms paint photo)
>Should have braked hard, downshifted, and tried to lean in more
>Lock up and try to slow the bike for imminent grass
>Dump it in the grass at 50 mph, no injuries to me and only broke the foot peg off the left side

I'd probably have been dead if this was on the street

I attempted to cut down 2 trees today. The gas chainsaw wouldn't start though and after tearing it apart I *think* the fuel line is clogged? Now my hands smell of gasoline and I curse poulan for their whole integrated tank/chassi bullshit. Found an old electric chainsaw in the shop however and it started right up. Thunderstorm and darkness means lumberjacking will wait for tomorrow.

I'm not sure how much of a pain in the ass 2-stroke bikes are with their issues but I'm appreciating electric and 4-stroke right now.

Do you think Zero or any of the other e-bike makers are going to ever put out bikes that can compete cost and range wise with the big 4's commuter bikes?

I hope so. So far all the wrenching on my little 250 has been within my level to do on my own. Things like adjusting the valves or messing with the guts kinda scares me but I'll try to tackle them when the time approaches.

That said, I like the idea of a bike where the extent of normal servicing is lubing the chain and checking the tires/brakes.

I'm surprised Zero hasn't developed a faired bike, wouldn't the aerodynamics help them get better highway efficiency numbers?
